00:06How does it feel to be back out there performing and seeing the crowd just react so well to you?

00:12It's amazing. I think we didn't have any massive expectations and we just wanted to get out

00:19there and do what we love and then all the fuss that's been made of us, that's just been

00:25the icing on the cake. We weren't expecting it, but it's very welcome and we're enjoying

00:30every minute.

00:31How did it all come about then? Was there like a WhatsApp group chat and you were like,

00:34shall we?

00:35Well, like 10 years ago actually, we decided to get together and just really make music

00:40to see if we still had the chemistry and we did and we just continued from there. It's

00:46been a long, long while and we went through so much together, got our name Sugar Base

00:51back and we're just happy to be back and everyone's been so amazing and supportive

00:55so we're super happy and grateful.

00:56We just get to enjoy the journey now.

00:58Yeah, because I feel like you guys have been through it with so many different things,

01:02so now is it just like pure fun getting out there to sing songs that people just are screaming

01:06back at you?

01:07Yeah. No, I think that's probably the best thing when you have the legacy and also people

01:14singing your songs to you. You do forget when you've been away and you've come back, you

01:18forget that-

01:20The songs are timeless.

01:21The songs are amazing.

01:22And we're also working on new music as well, so it's great to celebrate the old in the new.

01:27What's the new sound then? What can we expect?

01:30Oh, that's a secret.

01:32All you just need to know is that it's going to be amazing.

01:34It's going to be family style and it's eclectic, but we're really happy with where it's landed.

01:41Absolutely.

01:42And the power of TikTok and the internet means that younger audiences now are getting to

01:45know your music. Obviously, I'm older, so I've been a stan since day one, but is it

01:50nice to see a new audience coming to your tracks now?

01:53Absolutely.

01:54There's a lot of young ones.

01:55Yeah. For the past festivals that we've been doing, it's been very young, and very young

02:00to the point where I've been shocked. And they've been singing our songs and they're

02:04loving it.

02:05And we've had viral moments as well on TikTok, which has been incredible. There's been so

02:08many remixes of our songs, especially Push The Button, which keeps reliving different

02:13moments.

02:14Absolutely.

02:15Well, this is quite niche, but my song is probably Too Lost In You. That's probably

02:18my favourite. I know that's niche. What's your favourite song to play live?

02:22I think that one's niche, and it's lovely to perform.

02:26I think mine is Too Lost In You. I love that song. I really love performing that song.

02:30Yeah, I love the take that our band did for Red Dress, Believe It Or Not. I mean, that

02:37shocked me because I was very adamant I wouldn't sing it. I was like, it's just not me. I can't

02:41fake it. And they said, look, we'll rework it and then make a call on it. And actually,

02:47I love doing it now.

02:48Sounds amazing.

02:49But I love the new band version of Overload with the brass section.

02:53Oh, yeah.

02:54Because it's got a whole garage. Overload is like, it feels very London and kind of

02:57the music we grew up on.

02:58Because we sing it so much, you know? And so for them to make a song like that feel

03:02fresh for us, that's amazing.

03:03Also, it's very timeless, just saying. Singing Overload, it feels like we just released it.

03:09So, yeah.

03:10What song do you think the crowd goes mad for the most?

03:13Ram, Ram, Ram.

03:14Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the one, isn't it?

03:16That hair-squishing. Oh, yeah, they do.
