00:00It is said that if there is a part of our body that suddenly hurts,
00:08it is because of your cell phone.
00:11But is it true that we use our cell phone too much?
00:16Is it possible to get sick?
00:18Especially to children?
00:20This is Zane, 6 years old.
00:30He got a video of how he changes his movements while using his cell phone.
00:37Eye twitching.
00:42He can't stop moving his neck and shoulders.
00:46It's like he's floating and his fingers are moving.
00:54Zane, when he was 2 years old, we were allowed to use our cell phone.
01:03But not very often.
01:06When he was 3 years old, we gave him a cell phone.
01:10We thought that he just wanted to watch, but it became his habit.
01:15I always play with my phone.
01:18Zane is a big grandma.
01:20My mom is busy with housework.
01:23My mom is asking her to borrow her cell phone.
01:25Since the pandemic, she has been focusing on her cell phone.
01:30She watches TV in the morning, lunch, and even at night.
01:34There is a time when she can sleep early, around 1 am.
01:39This June, Mommy Erica noticed the unusual changes in Zane's body.
01:44I noticed that his neck and shoulders were twitching.
01:48I asked him if his shoulders were hurting.
01:52He said nothing.
01:53I thought it was just an itch.
01:55My brother noticed that Zane has different movements.
01:59He filmed it and sent it to me.
02:01I was alarmed.
02:04Mommy Erica noticed that her son got it from the way he touched his cell phone.
02:10That's why she prohibited him from touching his cell phone.
02:15She also underwent an electroencephalogram, or EEG, to determine his condition.
02:23The electroencephalogram, or EEG, is a painless test
02:28where the activity of the brain is recorded.
02:32Here, there is a small sensor attached to the patient's head
02:37that picks up electric signals from the brain.
02:41Is Zane's condition related to the excessive use of gadgets?
02:47Stay tuned!
02:51Zane has not used his cell phone for almost two months.
02:55If he wants to watch TV, he is only allowed to watch it for a limited time.
03:01For now, he does not notice the symptoms of the child.
03:05We also did not notice any movement in his body.
03:09I think it helped him stop using his cell phone.
03:12I really feel that he got it from his cell phone.
03:17The most common seizure that we know of in children is convulsion.
03:22The whole body is shaking.
03:24But there are minor seizures, not the whole body.
03:27It is a type of absence seizure.
03:31Sometimes, it just comes and goes.
03:35It only lasts for a few seconds at a time.
03:38But it happens repeatedly.
03:41It's considered a type of epilepsy.
03:44But what is the result of Zane's EEG?
03:48We asked a neurologist to read the results.
03:52The EEG report showed normal.
03:54But that does not mean that Zane does not have seizures.
03:58What EEG means is that at that specific point, he did not just have seizures.
04:04In order to get seizures from EEG, we need to do more EEG.
04:10It is said that this is possible because of genetics or it is inherited from the family or from the environment.
04:17When he was seven years old, he often had seizures at that age.
04:22But usually, by the time he was 12 years old, he would be gone.
04:29But during that time, he had seizures.
04:32He should take medicine so that he would not have seizures.
04:35Because if we continue to have seizures, it can affect his brain in the long run.
04:43But the question is, is Zane's case connected to using a cell phone?
04:48Usually, the triggers of seizures are bright lights and blinking.
04:54The cell phone is not the cause for seizures, but it is a trigger.
05:00But wait a minute.
05:02Doc, is it true that using a cell phone has an effect on health?
05:06Prolonged use of cell phone can trigger epilepsy.
05:11It is important for children like Zane to eat properly.
05:15Enough hours of sleep and physical activity that he can enjoy as a child.
05:21I really prayed that there would be no negative results.
05:25Then I was told that it was normal.
05:29I said, totally, we will remove the cell phone case.
05:33Since last year, Zane has been using his cell phone strictly for three hours a day.
05:40Mommy Erica also assured that Zane has more time to play with other children.
05:47And because the time in gadgets is limited, the result is that the eye twitch does not return.
05:55In addition, Zane has never experienced sudden movements of his fingers and other parts of his body.
06:02Having seizures is not bad for children.
06:05As long as it is important, it is monitored and does not affect their health.
