NATO defence ministers agree on long-term security aid and training support plan for Ukraine

Ministers gathered over two days at NATO headquarters in Brussels for final high-level talks before an upcoming summit hosted by US President Joe Biden in Washington in July.

00:05 on a plan to provide long-term security assistance and military training to Ukraine.

00:21 NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the defence alliance needs to sustain its

00:26 level of support for Ukraine.

00:29 "Since Russia's full-scale invasion, Allies have provided around 40 billion euros worth

00:36 of military support each year.

00:38 I have proposed that we sustain this level of support as a minimum for as long as it

00:45 takes."

00:46 NATO's central focus for Ukraine is long-term, predictable security assistance amidst growing

00:52 global insecurity.

00:53 Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said there has to be an end to gaps and delays in the

00:57 transfer of weapons, given what has been an extremely harsh six months for the country,

01:05 Defence ministers are also discussing training for Ukrainian soldiers and financial assistance,
