Public Bank holds inaugural Run For Change 2024

Over 1,200 staff of Public Bank Bhd gathered at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (June 9) to participate in the inaugural Run for Change 2024 event, in an effort to champion sustainable health and wellness. 00:00It was a sea of white at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, as thousands of public

00:07bank staff gathered for the Run for Change 2024 event.

00:11The inaugural event, boasting 10km and 5km runs, was not only aimed at promoting physical

00:17fitness and healthy lifestyle.

00:20It was also to raise awareness on fostering a culture of sustainability and enhancing

00:25quality of life through environmental, social and governance or ESG practices within the

00:31community.

00:32A portion of the participation fees was allocated towards purchasing young trees, contributing

00:37to the nation's Green Initiative.

00:48The event also saw the participation of 100 students from the public bank Berhad Green

00:53Growth Asia Foundation Eco-Schools Program.

00:58Residents from 3 special homes, namely Lovely Disabled Home, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak

01:04Istimewa Insan and Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Maiga also joined the event and

01:10participated in the special 3km run category.

01:26Besides the run, the event also featured a Zumba session for both senior management staff

01:32and younger participants.

01:34This is the first of many events from the public bank, so it's amazing to see so many

01:40people around, so many happy faces and after all it's for a good cause as well.

01:46So it's an amazing feeling.

01:48I find that mental health is among one of the most common issues in the workplace.

01:54A lot of people don't express it.

01:57So having an event like this, having everyone get together, have some fun is very important.

02:03It's a good starting point for every company, every corporate.

02:09So let's hope for more of this event in the future.

02:13This time is the public bank's first running event, so I must join this event.

02:18So I want to take part in this event because I need to try for my best.

02:23This event for every runner, for everyone, is also very healthy for everyone.

02:28Be there with jogging in the office, with less exercise, know how to set the open law.

02:38So we need to exercise for this running.

02:42I was motivated to join this run because I wanted to challenge myself physically and

02:48mentally today.

02:49My office mates and I, we trained for the past one month.

02:54After working hours, we ran nearby our office to build stamina and fitness for this event.

03:01So I'm just happy that I managed to complete this run.

03:03I hope through this event, we can create a supportive and positive work environment so

03:09that we will have a good company culture.

03:15Yeah, it's a good event, it's a fun event with our colleagues.

03:20We can bond together as a community in the public bank.

03:25Yeah, and also it's actually a very, very good program because it creates awareness

03:30to the society also because with this run, actually, it promotes our ESG initiative,

03:34which is in line with the bank's direction for 2024.

03:38By doing this run, it creates a very good environment and also it creates awareness

03:43in our working environment so that it will create a good mindset moving forward.

03:49This is my first time joining a 5km category and yeah, I had really fun and I feel like

03:58this is something that I would like to do continuously to live a healthier lifestyle.

04:05What I can highlight from this also is that the bond among public bank employees, among

04:10other groups as well, are quite strong.

04:12So I guess this is something that we should do regularly or an annual event for that matter.

04:18I think it's very interesting to see everyone coming together, the management, the executive

04:23levels and all working together and then taking this as a success.

04:26I think it's very interesting and I think it's very good that we invited a lot of the

04:29community to take part in this event, the orphanage, the disabled homes and all the

04:35schools that we work with for EcoSchool program.

04:37I think it's very good to get everyone together here.

04:40Also present at the event were Public Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

04:45Tan Sri Dr. Teh Alek and Deputy CEO Datuk Changkat Kiam.

04:50Reflecting on the event's success, Teh said witnessing over 1,200 individuals unite for

04:55a cause that champions sustainability and community well-being was truly inspiring.

05:01He added that Public Bank remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting ESG practices

05:06and contributing to a greener, healthier future to make a lasting positive impact on the world.
