00:00We did discuss all the issues, some outstanding, some ongoing, very well, the economic zone,
00:09the financial zone, the increased trade, phenomenal, and investments into Malaysia, and similarly
00:20our participation in probably a smaller way in Singapore, but also we did touch on the
00:29broad parameters to discuss issues of water, FIR, maritime borders, which I think can and
00:41should be resolved in the interest of the future relations and strengthening the bond
00:47of friendship between the two countries.
00:50Hello Prime Ministers, I'm Yuen See from the Straits Times in Singapore.
00:54Both of you mentioned the outstanding issues of water, airspace, and maritime boundaries,
00:59so I'm wondering, did you discuss any maybe strategic change in addressing these issues
01:05such as a holistic package, and also is there any timeline you have in mind?
01:11Thank you.
01:12If you ask timeline, they should have resolved it yesterday, but we understand the complexities
01:21and we appreciate the need to resolve this amicably, notwithstanding some minor differences,
01:31it should not deter us from exploring new avenues and working together.
01:34There's no question that water is quite established, that we need to send water to
01:44Singapore.
01:45Similarly, FIR, there's no question that it is required for Changi.
01:50The issue is to get the nitty-gritty and get the details to be resolved.
01:54The faster it could be done, the better for these countries.
01:58If you ask me, I assure Prime Minister Lawrence that I would certainly insist that our staff
02:07work fast, at a faster pace, and try to resolve where they can.
02:15If they can't, then bring it up to our attention, and it would be wonderful, it would be marvellous
02:21if we could resolve it before the bilateral meeting towards the end of the year.
02:27I think if they can resolve it tomorrow, next week we'll get Prime Minister Lawrence to
02:31come.
02:32But then we may take some time, but it would be marvellous if we could really resolve it.
02:39The issue is, to my mind, clear.
02:43We need to resolve it at one time.
02:44There's no way we can get out of it.
02:47It is something that we, as good neighbours, have to get this.
02:52And I am a bit ambitious.
02:55I want this to showcase to the region and to the world how good neighbours should behave
03:02and interact.
03:04So I look forward to that sort of final, amicable resolution.
