00:00Black Sheep Brewery was founded in 1992 by my father, Paul Theakston. We're in Massam
00:08in North Yorkshire. We focus on cask beer, English-style cask beers based in Yorkshire,
00:16but we have grown over the years and we sell beer all over the country and all over the
00:22world actually. We grow a lot of British hops here in the UK, which are very specific to
00:28English beers and English-style ales. They do like a particularly English climate. We
00:35use barley and we malt barley for one of the main ingredients for beer. A lot of that is
00:42grown in the UK as well, so that will be something that will need to be looked at as well. Again,
00:48I know that the guys growing barley are in constant development of new types of barley
00:52and they're very good because the English weather throws a lot at us. They're very good at
00:59developing strains of barley that are really resilient as well. The pub for us is the best
01:07place, the best environment to be socialising. It's the hub of a community. They need supporting
01:14because they're so important in communities. They're not just a place to go and have a pint,
01:19they represent so much more for people, for social interaction, for all sorts of things that
01:28kind of get forgotten in the modern world of social media and all the rest. Actual physical
01:33social interaction is still very important. For us, our major thing is cask beer,
01:40and cask can only be served in a pub. Post-COVID, cask beer has had a really tough time
01:48with pubs closing. There's a lot less of it being sold,
01:52so it needs the public to get out to the pub and support cask beer.
