00:27The western region of China is vast. In the past, many rural communities faced challenges
00:33such as inconvenient transportation, harsh natural environments, lagging development
00:38and poor living conditions. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of
00:43China, addressing these issues has been a top priority for Xi Jinping. In June 2015,
00:49Xi visited Huamao, sat in Wang Ziqiang's courtyard and chatted with villagers about their day-to-day
00:54lives.

01:44Pan Ke Gang, who was then the party head of Huamao Village and a delegate of the Congress,
01:50presented a recent photo of his village to Xi, who likened it to a beautiful landscape
01:54painting. Developing rural tourism, Xi stressed, is an important support in poverty alleviation,
02:00and it was essential that rural tourism should seize the opportunity to turn resources into
02:05assets and action the concept of lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.
02:21Huamao has integrated ecotourism with agriculture, culture and commerce, and now boasts dozens
02:34of rural tourism-related businesses. By the end of 2019, each and every one of Huamao's
02:40impoverished population had been lifted out of poverty.

03:56million yuan, or roughly US$4.15 million. The average disposable income per capita in
04:03the village is now 24,000 yuan, more than double that of 2014, bringing even more smiles
04:10to the villagers' faces. The transformation of Huamao illustrates how the CPC under Xi's
04:16leadership is ensuring no one and no region is left behind, as the party fulfills the
04:21people's aspirations for a better life.
