00:00 We are here at Billboard Latin Women in Music with one of our top honorees of the night,
00:05 our legend award Gloria Estefan and her date, Emilio Estefan.
00:10 He keeps trying to run away, I'm telling him no, you're here with me, I'm gonna hold him down.
00:15 Tonight's about you.
00:16 Okay, thank you babe, but you're a big part of me, like I need it personally and professionally.
00:22 I'm gonna leave you alone.
00:23 I'm gonna leave you alone, no, I'm kidding.
00:25 Now that you said professionally and personally, we've been asking everyone,
00:30 who's that woman or you know, women who have inspired your career, you know, your career and your personal life?
00:36 Okay, my personal life, my grandma and my mom, two amazing women.
00:40 My grandmother was ahead of her time, super humble, spiritual and a great business mind.
00:47 And my mom worked incredibly hard to make sure my sister and I had the life that she wanted us to have.
00:54 They were strong women and when I saw them do everything,
00:58 there was nothing that I thought that I couldn't do because I saw it by example.
01:02 My dad was ill, my grandfather was ill and they took over everything.
01:06 On a professional level, absolutely Celia Cruz.
01:09 Since I was a little baby, I listened to her records that I had from my mom
01:14 and then later when I got to meet her in life, she was even more incredible than I ever thought.
01:21 She was humble, warm, loving and when she got on that stage, she was ageless.
01:27 And she taught me a lot of things just observing her and being her friend.
01:31 I still miss her but she's still with us because of her music.
01:35 I have to ask now that we have Emilio here with us, what do you think makes Gloria Estefan a legend?
01:41 She's real, what you see is what you get.
01:43 You know something, I think artists, when people come through the way Gloria,
01:46 not only with her music, being in person, especially with her fans,
01:51 that's why she has such loyal fans.
01:53 Even this week, we have an album that's been released now, Otra Vez.
01:57 And Río.
01:59 And Río, they went and bought the album.
02:01 It's number one and number two on the iTunes Latin American albums today.
02:05 Which is amazing.
02:06 And it's really amazing.
02:07 Those two old albums from '82 and '83, incredible.
02:11 I can tell you, I'm her biggest fan because I know her as a person,
02:14 I know her as a daughter, as a mother, as a wife, and as a real human being.
02:19 Thank you guys for being here.
02:21 Felicidades, Gloria.
02:22 Enjoy your night.
