00:00World Cup in a country where it was not held, and taking on a mighty and experienced India.
00:09Do you expect the luck of the Irish to smile on you too, on this day?
00:14Always. I think it's shown in the past that the luck of the Irish has always been with us.
00:19Playing in a country which we don't know a lot about, and it is what it is, we don't really focus too much on that.
00:25We've really had a nice opportunity to prepare and try and control some areas that we feel like we can control.
00:31Part of that is making sure we do our preparation and our planning.
00:34As you've mentioned, India is an experienced side, which means there's a lot of dots and a lot of information out there.
00:39Hopefully we can look to find a couple of areas we can try and exploit.
00:43You guys were not allowed inside, and you have not had a view of the stadium.
00:57Was it still the case, or did you have a chance to visit the stadium and get a feel of it?
01:02Yeah, look, we haven't been there. I'm going to head out there soon.
01:05Again, I guess that's one of the things you can't control.
01:09There's a lot of logistics going on in the background.
01:11Again, we're focusing on the things we can try and control.
01:14We've got the dimensions. We've seen what's happened yesterday.
01:17At the end of the day, it's something we can't control.
01:20We'll make sure we try and control the controllables.
01:24You said you haven't seen the pitch yet.
01:27Have you guys worked on your game plan about the Indian team?
01:32Have you guys thought about the likes of Roy Sharma, Virat Kohli, Bumrah?
01:37Have you guys set up their plan?
01:39Yeah, look, I guess after yesterday's game, it might be a little bit of a change in plan.
01:43Like I said, we haven't seen the wicket. We haven't been out there.
01:46I'm going to head there soon.
01:48At the end of the day, it's not a controllable.
01:50Whether we can train there or not, there's no training facilities there.
01:53For us, we don't need to spend mental energy on that.
01:56We'd rather spend our mental energy on having clear plans, doing our preparation work,
02:01and making sure that everyone's aware of how that can impact the game.
02:10I'm asking you because this is the first time such an international ICC World Cup is happening in a new continent.
02:18You have the idea about the pitch and the entire ground.
02:24Whether it is just like an international standard or below that, your opinion?
02:30Look, I guess if you look at the pictures and how quickly they've assembled the ground and erected it, it's a great effort.
02:36The surface is obviously dropped in surfaces, and I guess if you look at the way the wickets have been in the training facilities as well,
02:43that's what you can only guide it on.
02:45Obviously, we had the game yesterday, and you try and take as much out of that as you can.
02:50Hopefully, we can make a little bit more of a concrete conclusion of what it will give us once we've actually been out there and heading into tomorrow.
03:00What's your view on the logistics of everything, the distance from here back to the hotel and everything like that?
03:06Has it been a bit disruptive for you?
03:12What's your view on the logistics of everything, the distance from here to the hotel and all that sort of thing?
03:17Yeah, look, it's a challenge.
03:18But again, I think the one thing that we've constantly been trying to focus on is being adaptable, being versatile.
03:24We can't control that. It is what it is. We've got to get on with it.
03:28We're not here to have a holiday. We're here to play cricket.
03:32At the end of the day, those are the cards we've dealt, and we've got to try and make the best of it.
03:37There's obviously a strong Irish community here in New York.
03:41Have you guys come across people, or are you expecting and encouraging people to come out and support you?
03:46Yeah, look, there was a nice little event last night in Gibney's in town,
03:50where there was a fair few of the players around to meet up with the Irish community out here.
03:56Yeah, hopefully over the next little period, starting tomorrow, we get a couple of people coming to support us.
04:01I'm sure they will, as they always do.
04:04How great of a challenge was it to separate from Britain and Ireland from the cricket perspective?
04:11Because sometimes I know some of you guys used to play for England when it was just one team.
04:15So how is it now?
04:17Yeah, look, I think the Irish have got their own identity.
04:19It's great to see that we've come through the ranks and we've been able to build up a brand of cricket that is exciting
04:25and people want to watch and people want to follow.
04:27Hopefully we can start the World Cup in that same sort of vein and ensure that we keep building our brand
04:33and keep having the next generation of Irish cricketers wanting to come through
04:37and represent their country at the highest level of cricket.
04:41Ireland have played India in T20 format in recent years and you guys have been quite competitive
04:47and recently have beaten Pakistan as well.
04:50So how big a confidence booster will these performances be going into this game?
04:55Again, it's not necessarily just about the World Cup or playing against India or anyone on the top side.
05:01We try and put a process in place and a system and a structure in place
05:04that we can play consistent, good cricket.
05:09Hopefully if we do follow the process and we've shown over a period that we can play a good brand of cricket
05:15and if we do that well, over time, like I've said, we've shown that we can beat the top sides
05:21and then it becomes part of what we do as opposed to it happening every now and again.
05:26Is there a last question?
05:29Thank you very much everybody.
