00:00 Hi! Welcome to BAKURA!
00:03 When the pandemic hit in 2020, everybody was stuck at home.
00:18 And when it started to get a little bit more chaotic,
00:20 we couldn't go out because we have three children.
00:24 They're still small, so it's scary.
00:26 And there was still no vaccine during that time.
00:27 We had an acquired lot here in TRT Bulacan years ago,
00:32 but we couldn't go there.
00:34 So during the pandemic, we thought of this as a "passion land"
00:38 because it's a mountain, a province, and there's no one.
00:42 So we thought, "Can't we remove our masks?"
00:43 because we're the only ones who can go here.
00:45 So we tried it once.
00:47 We enjoyed it until we made it monthly,
00:52 and then every other week.
00:53 Then we stayed here for a week.
00:57 Until we thought,
00:59 "Why don't we put up a Bakod?"
01:02 The Bakod we made wasn't the normal stone.
01:09 That's expensive.
01:10 So we just made the "Kawayan" Bakod.
01:13 That's also the trend here in TRT.
01:15 That's what you'll see in most houses.
01:18 So that's what we made.
01:20 We called it "Bakuran" when there's Bakod.
01:25 When we used to go here,
01:26 when there was a Bakod,
01:27 the next thing we did was
01:29 we put up a pond,
01:31 and we put up a chicken coop.
01:33 So that we'd have a place to go.
01:36 And it wasn't as comfortable for the kids
01:39 because it didn't have electricity or water.
01:42 So we thought of building a cabin there.
01:46 So this is our house now.
01:49 And when it was built,
01:50 that's when the official construction started.
01:54 This house is just for me.
01:57 So we didn't rush.
01:59 There's no timeline.
02:00 But when this house was finished,
02:02 that was in July,
02:03 that's when we officially started
02:05 constructing the other two cabins
02:08 and the other common areas.
02:11 Bakuran is located in DRT, Bulacan.
02:21 For the design,
02:22 my husband is an engineer
02:25 and we have our own construction company.
02:27 That's why they helped me with the design.
02:29 So the architects in the firm
02:33 designed the cabins first.
02:36 And then when I saw it,
02:39 we just edited it and revised it.
02:41 It depends on what's right for the place.
02:45 (upbeat music)
02:48 Each cabin is around 1.5 million pesos
02:57 because every part is detailed.
03:00 It's not like when you buy a condo unit
03:03 that's very bare.
03:04 So our units have details.
03:08 There's a table that's already attached.
03:10 There are cabinets.
03:11 It doesn't have a plain part.
03:13 So everything has details.
03:15 So if you think it's expensive,
03:16 that's the reason behind it.
03:18 The name of our three cabins
03:24 is inspired by our three children.
03:26 That's why this is Balay Ate.
03:28 We have Balay Kuya for our oldest son
03:32 and then Balay Bonso.
03:33 So three.
03:34 We can't have children again
03:35 because we only have three cabins
03:36 and we don't have space here.
03:39 Basically, this Bakuran is inspired by our family.
03:43 We call it "Bakuran" because it's very subtle
03:45 unlike other resorts
03:48 or other places we go to when we're on vacation.
03:51 This is a very small place.
03:54 It's perfect for small groups.
03:57 It's just a 1,300 square meter space
04:01 plus 300 square meters of parking area.
04:05 Every cabin is around 20 to 25 square meters each.
04:11 Each cabin is made of wood.
04:13 It's mainly wood
04:15 so you can feel the mountain vibe
04:18 and the metal framing.
04:21 So that's what makes each cabin's framing unique.
04:24 My favorite area in Bakuran is the Kubong-Kubon.
04:32 So that's like our view deck area.
04:35 I said it's just a small space.
04:38 So when you're in Kubong-Kubon, you'll see everything
04:41 that Bakuran has to offer.
04:44 If you're planning to build your own place
04:50 like a house or something like this
04:53 that's open for other people,
04:56 I think the best advice is to not rush
04:59 and take your time
05:00 because there are things that you need to think about
05:04 so you won't regret it in the end.
05:06 You won't feel like you're being loved
05:08 or unsatisfied with what you have.
05:11 So take your time
05:13 and think about what's best for you.
05:16 Future plans for Bakuran are
05:24 to get to know each other,
05:25 like in Bulacan or other places.
05:28 We don't have much to do here
05:30 because our space is limited.
05:32 So we'll see each other soon.
05:34 So maybe we can go to Bakuran somewhere else.
05:37 Maybe Bakuran Tagaytay or Bakuran Baguio.
05:41 But that's still a long time.
05:43 It's just wishful thinking.
05:45 But hopefully.
