00:00 Earlier this morning, the center of the storm Agjon was last seen here in the coastal waters of Lucena City in Quezon Province.
00:10 And earlier this morning, the storm Agjon intensified.
00:14 And now, this is a tropical storm with a strong wind that is close to the center, reaching 65 km/h
00:22 and a strong wind that is reaching 90 km/h.
00:26 The storm continues to move, with a low wind speed of 10 km/h.
00:31 And we can see here in our latest satellite images,
00:35 the thick clouds that cover a large part of Lucena are being affected by heavy rains.
00:43 Meanwhile, in a large part of Visayas and the whole of Mindanao,
00:47 we are expecting generally improving weather conditions today.
00:51 And let's recap the last landfall of the storm Agjon.
00:56 Our latest landfall was last night in the area of Torijo in Marinduque.
01:01 This is the seventh landfall, last night at 10 p.m.
01:05 And our latest location, we can see the movement of the northwestward of the storm Agjon.
01:11 Our latest location was earlier at 4 a.m.
01:14 It is now here in the coastal waters of Lucena City in Quezon.
01:17 So anytime from now, more in particular, within the next three hours,
01:21 it is possible that there will be an eighth landfall of this storm Agjon anywhere in this area.
01:26 So here in the lands that surround this part of Tayabas Bay,
01:32 within the next three hours, we expect a possible landfall in these areas.
01:37 And this is our latest track forecast for the storm Agjon.
01:41 And we can see the generally movement of the storm Agjon northwestward.
01:47 It is now here in the part of Tayabas Bay in Quezon.
01:50 We are expecting this landfall in the mainland Quezon area.
01:53 And this generally northward movement will continue.
01:57 It will be accompanied by strong winds and rain in the mainland Calabar Zone.
02:02 And within the next 24 hours, tomorrow early in the morning, so 2 a.m. on Monday,
02:08 it will emerge in the eastern part of our country.
02:13 It is now here in the coastal waters of Casiguran, Aurora for the next 24 hours.
02:18 24 hours after that, the direction of the movement of the storm Agjon will change.
02:23 It will be northeastward.
02:25 It will start moving away from our country.
02:28 This is what we call a recurvature period.
02:30 So 24 hours after that, or more in particular, at 2 a.m. on Tuesday,
02:37 it is now here at 325 kilometers east of Aparic, Cagayan.
02:42 And it will accelerate or the movement of the storm Agjon will be faster
02:46 and its strength will intensify more, possibly into a severe tropical storm category
02:51 where by Wednesday, Wednesday next week, Wednesday early in particular,
02:57 the possible location of this is 970 kilometers east northeast of the extreme northern Luzon.
03:04 And because this storm has already grown as a tropical storm,
03:09 we have also seen a rise in Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 in some areas of southern Luzon.
03:15 So Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is now rising here in the northern and central portions of Quezon,
03:22 including the Apolillo Islands.
03:25 Meanwhile, Wind Signal No. 1 is still here in the southeastern portion of Isabela,
03:32 southern portion of Quirino, southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya,
03:37 the eastern and southern portions of Nueva Ecija, and in the area of Aurora.
03:43 Wind Signal No. 1 is also rising in the eastern portion of Pampanga,
03:48 in the area of Bulacan, here in Metro Manila,
03:51 in the northern part of Quezon, in the area of Rizal, Laguna, in the area of Cavite, and in Batangas.
04:00 Wind Signal No. 1 is also rising here in the northern portion of Oriental Mindoro,
04:05 in the area of Marinduque, here in Romblon, in Camarines Provinces, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur,
04:11 in the northern portion of Albay, and in Buryas Island.
04:16 So what are we expecting to see? A strong wind.
04:19 So it's possible that the wind we'll experience will be stronger,
04:22 especially if we're located in coastal areas,
04:25 like our coastal areas, or mountainous areas, like these mountains where we're more exposed to the wind.
04:34 So we're expecting a minor to moderate impact.
04:39 So examples of minor to moderate impacts, possible damages to poorly built
04:44 or infrastructure or any buildings made of light materials,
04:50 possible damage to small trees, and possible damages to our crops like rice and other agricultural products.
05:00 Meanwhile, we're expecting minimal to minor impacts in areas where the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is rising.
05:08 And based on our latest analysis, the highest possible wind signal we can raise for Baguio-Agjon is Wind Signal No. 2.
05:19 For heavy rainfall, or heavy rains brought by the Tropical Cyclone Agjon,
05:24 today, May 26, we'll continue to experience intense torrential rains in the entire Quezon Province,
05:30 so the Polynesian Islands, and the high chances of heavy rains
05:35 that could lead to continuous flooding or possible landslides.
05:40 Meanwhile, we'll experience heavy to intense rains in the Aurora,
05:45 eastern portion of the Bulacan, in areas or in a large part of the Calabar Zone, here in Rizal, Laguna,
05:51 here in Metro Manila, and in the province of Camarines Norte.
05:55 Moderate to heavy rains here in Nueva Ecija, in the rest of Bulacan,
06:02 eastern portion of Pampanga, in some parts of the Calabar Zone, Oriental Mindoro,
06:07 Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Burrias Island, and the western portion of Camarines Sur.
06:13 So starting tomorrow, May 27, we'll notice that the areas that will experience heavy rains will gradually decrease.
06:20 So moderate to heavy rains are the only areas that we'll experience,
06:23 in the eastern portion of Isabela, northern portion of Aurora, and Polilio Island.
06:27 So we'll notice that a large part of the Luzon, starting tomorrow,
06:30 generally improving weather conditions, especially here in the central and southern Luzon area.
06:35 However, we'll still assess the high chances of heavy rains with thunderstorms.
06:40 So since we've experienced heavy rains for the past few days,
06:43 the land is possibly saturated.
06:45 If we'll experience heavy rains in the coming days, it's still possible that it will result in floods and landslides.
06:52 The precautions that were mentioned earlier, in the areas that will experience floods or landslides,
06:59 are also possible, especially if we'll experience heavy rains continuously.
07:09 And as of 5 a.m. today, we've issued gale warnings to several towns in our country.
07:14 More in particular, in a large portion of the southern Luzon,
07:17 we're expecting rough to very rough sea conditions.
07:20 Here in Marinduque Island, the whole Quezon, including the Polilio Islands,
07:25 the southern coast of Batangas, and the northern coast of Camarines Norte.
07:30 So to our fellow fishermen and those who are concerned about sea traffic in these areas,
07:36 we're asking you to avoid going out there because we're expecting the sea to continue to be very rough.
07:44 Meanwhile, we'll experience moderate to rough sea conditions in the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon,
07:50 so in the eastern seaboards of the northern and central Luzon, and also in the seaboards of Bicol Region.
07:58 And for a more detailed explanation of our forecast track,
08:02 we're expecting the 8th or the next landfall scenario anywhere in the southern portion of Quezon within the next 3 hours.
08:11 And over the next 12 hours, the movement of the storm will continue.
08:14 It will affect a large portion of the mainland Calabarzon, including the Polilio Islands.
08:19 Especially here in Metro Manila, we're expecting a possible effect of strong winds and rains brought by the storm.
08:27 In Metro Manila and Calabarzon area, for the next 12 hours, we'll experience the effect of the storm.
08:32 And after that period, the storm will emerge here in the ocean, in the northern portion of our country,
08:39 particularly here in the Quezon Aurora area, later tonight or tomorrow morning.
08:45 And after that, the movement will start moving away from our country, generally northeastward.
08:50 And during this period, it's possible that it will be seen as a tropical storm.
08:55 And we'll see that since this has an interaction with our mainland, in the area of Metro Manila and Calabarzon,
09:00 we're not going to remove the possibility of it becoming a tropical depression category.
09:06 And starting from Monday throughout the rest of the forecast period, so from Monday to Thursday this week,
09:13 we're expecting a fast-paced storm.
09:16 So the movement of the storm will accelerate, and at the same time,
09:21 it will also intensify as a severe tropical storm category by Tuesday.
09:26 We're also not removing the possibility of intensification or further intensification into a typhoon category
09:33 while it's still within our Philippine area of responsibility,
09:36 even though Agjon is already far from our mainland in the event that this happens.
09:41 And the possible exit of our Philippine area of responsibility is possibly between Wednesday and Thursday.
