Rishi Sunak has expressed his disappointment as it's been revealed his flagship smoking ban is set to be shelved. The Bill, which bans young people from ever being able to smoke tobacco legally, will not pass before Parliament shuts down on Friday ahead of the general election. Report by Kennedyl. 00:00Well, there's always a normal process at the end of a Parliament to see which legislation
00:04you can pass in the time that's available. I'm pleased that yesterday we got the Horizon
00:08Bill through to make sure that we can deliver compensation and justice to the postmasters
00:12that were so badly impacted by what I described as one of the worst miscarriages of justice
00:17that we've ever known. Today we'll be debating the bills that will ensure that the Compensation
00:22Authority for those impacted by the infected blood scandal get the justice that they deserve.
00:28So we are making progress and the smoking ban, of course, disappointed to not be able
00:32to get that through at the end of this session given the time available. But what I'd say
00:35is that's evidence of the bold action that I'm prepared to take. That's the type of Prime
00:39Minister I am, that's the type of leadership that I bring. I stepped up to do something
00:43that is bold, that will make an enormous difference to the future of our country. That's what
00:47the situation right now demands. Someone who is willing to take bold action, that has a
00:51clear plan, because that's how we deliver a secure future for everyone and their families.
