00:00 The International Court of Justice, otherwise known as the World Court, will on Friday reveal
00:07 whether it will order Israel to stop its military action inside Rafa in southern Gaza, after
00:13 South Africa made an urgent appeal to the court for intervention there.
00:18 Both Hamas and Israel have been releasing videos they say shows the continuation of
00:23 fighting inside Rafa, where Israel claims the last bastions of Hamas are hiding out.
00:31 About a million Palestinians have fled from Rafa since Israel began its partial invasion
00:36 there at the start of this month.
00:38 And South Africa has asked the ICJ to issue an order that would require a halt to the
00:44 Israeli action in Rafa, saying it's necessary to ensure the survival of the Palestinian
00:50 people.
00:51 Now, even if the ICJ does issue an order halting the Rafa offensive, Israel doesn't necessarily
00:59 have to comply, because the court has no way to enforce its decisions.
01:05 And decisions made by the court have been ignored before in other circumstances.
01:10 Israel is already foreshadowing that it won't stop in Rafa.
01:15 No power on earth will stop Israel from protecting its citizens and going after Hamas in Gaza.
01:26 We will destroy Hamas.
01:28 Although a ruling to end the military action inside Rafa wouldn't necessarily see the fighting
01:34 there stop, it would lead to increasing isolation and condemnation for Israel.
