00:00 If you don't join GGI, you're missing out.
00:02 It's a safe space.
00:05 GGI became a lifeline for me.
00:07 I got support, I got friendship, and I got community.
00:10 Women of all ages are welcome to connect with others.
00:14 So what is Girl Gone International, or GGI?
00:18 We went to one of the organization's events in Valencia to find out.
00:22 GGI has a thousand volunteers.
00:26 We're present in 91 countries and have about a million members across all platforms.
00:31 GGI is a global community that empowers women and non-binary people living overseas and provides support.
00:40 There are women who are married in the group, there are women who have children, there are women who are single with no kids.
00:46 It's very diverse regarding life situations.
00:49 It was founded in Hamburg in 2010 by Globetrotter Anne Scott.
00:52 All of the women in that group have something in common, which is that we're normally away from home.
00:56 It's a community, we need each other, and so everybody in there kind of understands what that feels like,
01:00 and so you see a lot of empathy because of that.
01:02 From all over Europe to exotic islands in Asia,
01:06 Girl Gone International creates a safe space where women from all over the world can connect, learn, and support each other, no matter what their age.
01:19 GGI events are for our members to find friends.
01:23 And so our events are basically anything you would do with a group of friends,
01:27 anything from picnics in the park to hobbies, workshops that are about developing a new skill.
01:34 But there are some limitations on who can join the organization.
01:39 When I meet guys here and they're asking me questions, I always feel bad because I can't recommend them to join GGI.
01:48 GGI is a male-identifying person, free zone.
01:52 According to the World Health Organization, about 30% of women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence.
02:00 Moving abroad alone as a woman can feel daunting.
02:03 Over the years, GGI has gained popularity as a community that offers women a safe space.
02:09 The way we really support and understand each other, like the connection and the feminine energy is very important for every woman.
02:17 So this is why we always want to be part of a community or get together.
02:22 At GGI, women not only make new friends, they can also develop business contacts.
02:29 I am a freelancer. I've met some of my clients, so I could also work on beautiful projects thanks to GGI.
02:39 For those who want to join the community, Internet access is a must.
02:45 To find your local community, search for your city name plus Girl Gone International on Facebook or go to the website girlgoneinternational.com.
02:53 Girl Gone International. Go anywhere. Belong everywhere.
02:56 It all started with a woman feeling lonely in Germany.
03:00 Now, one million women living abroad can feel connected, no matter where in the world they are.
03:06 they are.
