North Yorkshire Police were called to Carlton-in-Cleveland after a mudslide left one person dead.

North Yorkshire Police said yesterday (Wednesday 22 May): We are currently responding to a mudslide at Carlton-in-Cleveland.

We can confirm that one person has sadly died as a result of the incident. Our thoughts are with their family and friends during this difficult time.

The incident occurred at approximately 1.15pm on Wednesday 22 May.
One person has sadly died.
No one else was injured.
Emergency services are at the scene and managing the situation.
