Staffordshire Police is out of special measures after improvements in key areas

Staffordshire Police has come out of special measures after making significant improvements in its operations, bosses have announced today. Chief Constable Chris Noble welcomed the news. Video: Staffordshire Police

00:00 Hi, I just wanted to make you aware of Staffordshire Police progress against our inspection bodies'

00:06 decision to move us into engage, or what's been commonly known as special measures. As

00:11 of today I've been informed that we are now coming out of special measures, out of the

00:15 engage stage of inspection. There was two reasons why we came into that in the first

00:20 place. One was around how responsive we were to the public, and I'm right at the heart

00:24 of our force control room now, which has shown significant improvements in how we're responding,

00:28 not just the emergency calls, but one on one, but more to be done to improve that service

00:33 further. The second area was around the quality of our investigations, how we respond to victims,

00:38 how we support them, how we bring offenders to account. And again, progress in that area

00:43 to the point that again, our inspection body have said that we are now coming out of engage

00:48 and coming out of special measures. So excellent progress, really pleased for our staff in

00:53 terms of the service they provide every single day, but they are our harshest critics and

00:57 they know there's more to be done to deliver an even better service for communities of

01:00 Staffordshire.
