00:00This Giro d'Italia is so emphatically his that it's almost ridiculous, Tadej Pogacar,
00:25the destroyer of dreams, the writer of history and the winner at will, another extraordinary
00:33chapter in this amazing career unfolds before our very eyes at altitude in the snow of the
00:40Giro d'Italia, Pogacar is incomparable.
00:44Today your third stage win with the Maglia Rosa, is it the most enjoyable?
01:14Today was one of the best days for me, not the whole day, I would not say the best day
01:21on my career but it was a really nice stage, really good route, nice climbs, the team did
01:28a super good job, we had this stage in mind since, I don't know, December or whatever
01:35and I'm super happy that we keep it under control, it was a really strong breakaway
01:41but I gave it all in the last 10k or so or 15k and I'm super happy that I can win a
01:50Queen stage in Livigno, one of my favourite places in Italy.
01:54G, how was that?
01:59Solid day, UAE rode really well, super hard pace, where Pog went to be honest, it didn't
02:08feel super so I thought just instead of trying to follow and blow up, I'll use the other
02:15guys and actually came round a bit by the end.
02:21Nineteen seconds between you and Taimen Haraldsman, it will be a big battle in the last week?
02:26Yeah, now only 90 seconds but yeah, I hope that this was the worst day so maybe the other
02:35days will be better and yeah, maybe, for sure, I'll try to defend.
02:42Filippo Ganna, the fastest at the finishing line by a cavernous amount, well over a minute,
02:48he dislodges his teammate Tobias Voss by one minute and 26 seconds over 32km and that was
02:56borderline insane from Ganna.
03:04Queen stage into the Italian Alps, a mighty 222km with a finish in Livigno over a total
03:12of five categorised climbs, three of which were Cat 1 climbs, a massive day in the King
03:18of the Mountains competition and a massive day ahead in the general classification.
03:24Bright sunshine on the shores of Lake Garda as the race got underway and an aggressive
03:29start as riders went off in search of a potential breakaway victory, Simon Geska being piloted
03:36to the front of the race in search of King of the Mountains points.
03:41On the first climb then, his most immediate rival Lilian Kalmzjan was out sprinted to
03:45the first climb at Lodrino by Laurence Pithy of Groupama FTJ.
03:50As the groups got back together again, they approached the second climb of the day, Luke
03:56Plappe at the front of the race, the Australian national champion, attacking with Simon Geska.
04:02A little group getting away and Alpecin Deceuninck with Simon Geska in the blue jersey trying
04:08to knit it all back together again as Geska in the company of Christian Scaroni went over
04:15the top of the collie San Zeno, Scaroni getting maximum 18 points.
04:22They headed then down onto a descent with six riders off the front and, meanwhile, back
04:28in the peloton, UAE Team Emirates taking it up.
04:32The groups came back together again and at one point there were over 40 riders at the
04:35front, Polti Carmetta riding very aggressively, but still these six riders including Harrison
04:42Wood of Cofidis and two riders from Astana including Davide Ballarini were off the front
04:47as they went through the first bonus sprint at Malono.
04:52After that then it was the mighty Passo del Mottirolo, the first of the Cat 1 climbs and
04:58bit by bit the riders at the front of the race fell away, meanwhile pressure was being
05:02exerted behind by UAE Team Emirates.
05:04At the front of the race then three Italian riders were joined by Nicola Conci as they
05:09headed towards the top of the climb, but it was Astana's Christian Scaroni who picked
05:12up 40 more King of the Mountains points and went off in pursuit of second place in that
05:17competition.
05:19Diving down then, the second long descent of the day, the groups came back together
05:23again on the flat approach to the next bonus sprint and the Intergiro.
05:32They were riding hard behind though and the big breakaway group splintered and reformed.
05:36A steep approach to the bonus sprint.
05:39It was Vismalisa Bike's Attila Valta who went over the sprint in first place and after that
05:45the Intergiro was taken by Polti Carmetta's Davide Pigonzoli.
05:48Then they approached the last two categorised climbs and that was where Nairo Quintana attacked
05:54and went clear.
05:55A reaction then and the big expected move from the Maglia Rosa.
06:13Quintana went over the penultimate climb in first place, the Movistar Man, the winner
06:17of the Giro d'Italia in 2014, was being pursued though as behind, Tadej Pogacar was picking
06:24off the riders, bit by bit.
06:26Eventually, on the final climb to the finish in Lovigno, Tadej Pogacar got on terms with
06:32Nairo Quintana and then dropped him with two kilometres to go.
06:36This Giro d'Italia is so emphatically his that it's almost ridiculous.
06:41Tadej Pogacar, the destroyer of dreams, the writer of history and the winner at will.
06:49Another extraordinary chapter in this amazing career unfolds before our very eyes.
06:55At altitude, in the snow of the Giro d'Italia, Pogacar is incomparable.
07:11He takes another stage victory.
07:27Win number four for Pogacar at the 2024 Giro.
07:31Quintana in second place, Steinhauser in third, but this man's advantage on GC is now huge.
07:38Six minutes and 41 seconds to Geraint Thomas in second place.
07:41Eventually, Jonathan Milan came to the line, still with a firm grip on the Maglia Ciclamino.
07:49Pogacar extended his lead in the King of the Mountains competition.
07:54But in the white jersey standings, Antonio Tiberi lost a lot of his time today to Tiemann
07:59Arendsen.
08:00He's only got a few seconds to defend as the third week of the Giro looms large.
