00:00We're updating the relationship health, sex and health education guidance. It's guidance that was
00:05introduced in 2019. It was made statutory in 2020. There was a review to see how it'd been embedded
00:10in 21. Lots of teachers and headteachers were saying that we hadn't made clear enough age
00:15appropriateness and could we give more clarity on that. And lots of parents as well getting in
00:19touch saying they wanted to make sure that they had access to the materials. That wasn't clear in
00:23the guidance either. We do need to do things and we have to take some leadership positions to help
00:28support teachers and to help make sure parents are very clear about what rights they have as well to
00:33get access to materials and be able to see what their children are being taught. They're the first
00:37educators of their children. Gender reassignment as a protected characteristic absolutely should
00:43be taught. The fact that adults can change their gender when they're older, they can reassign that
00:49and they can go through a process, that's a protected characteristic that can be taught.
00:53It's very different from some of the gender identity ideology which covers things like
00:59you know gender's a spectrum. There can be 70, 80, 90, I don't know how many different identities.
01:06You can be fluid in your identity. No, that is not. That's a contested fact. That is not what
01:10will be being taught in our schools. Biological sex is important and that will be being taught
01:15in our schools.
