00:00 These guys are ridiculous.
00:03 These guys are ridiculous.
00:07 Now, how about them damn Celtics?
00:10 And we are back with another episode of How 'bout them Celtics.
00:13 Sam and I are here recording Monday, May 13th after Celtics-Cavs game 4.
00:17 Celtics win 109-102, 7 point win, their lowest margin of victory of the postseason.
00:23 But a win is a win, as they say.
00:24 Celtics pull it out.
00:25 No Donovan Mitchell, no Jared Allen-Cavs.
00:28 Tested the Celtics because what else would happen?
00:31 Of course, it works.
00:33 Celtics brought home the victory though.
00:36 Jason Tatum 33-11-5, Jaylen Brown 27-8, Drew Holiday another big game.
00:42 16 points on 4 of 8 from 3.
00:44 Pritchard made 3-3's as well.
00:46 Meanwhile, Garland exploded for 30 points, 12-27 and 4-13 from 3.
00:50 Max Struis gave them 5-3's as well, much to Sam's chagrin.
00:54 Karius LeVert also had 19, Evan Mobley 19 as well.
00:57 Celtics brought home the win, but it wasn't without the stress.
01:00 Yeah, this was the ultimate Sam wrote the script game.
01:04 Two of the Celtics blog articles I did about this series were Max Struis and
01:10 LeVert.
01:11 Oh my God, I can't believe the Celtics had to fucking play these guys again and
01:14 they combined for 34 points.
01:16 And then I wrote the one that went up this morning about Pritchard having
01:19 brass balls and he had one of the most impressive stretches in this game.
01:23 Probably eclipsed by the Holiday stretch in the fourth quarter.
01:26 But end of the third quarter, makes a couple free throws, 6, step back 3.
01:31 Brings the lead back to 10 before the final horn.
01:35 Overall, this was a really weird game.
01:39 It was a roller coaster game.
01:41 I was saying to my dad before Jack and I started recording here.
01:45 I feel like the Celtics played some of their best basketball in the playoffs.
01:49 Certain stretches of this game.
01:50 Certain stretches of this game I wanted to put my head in the microwave and
01:54 then when I was done go dive off my deck.
01:57 Just very polarizing Celtics game.
02:02 I thought they started really,
02:03 really well after they gave up the initial 8 to 2 stretch from Cleveland.
02:07 Punched back with a crisp 19 to 2 run championship-esque response.
02:12 Gets the second quarter and they're just like,
02:15 we're not gonna close the door on this one, no, no.
02:18 And they go into the half only up five, Cleveland cut it to one.
02:21 Then they come out of the half like even worse.
02:24 They're like Tatum's free turnover and then Mobley dunks it.
02:27 I was like, maybe they're gonna lose this game.
02:29 Maybe they're gonna lose it.
02:32 Mentioned the Pritchard stretch at the end of the quarter.
02:34 Mentioned the Drew stretch at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
02:36 Jalen had a decent start to the fourth too.
02:38 He put them up 15 and then they went five minutes.
02:43 Five minutes without a field goal.
02:45 Not what you wanna see in this game.
02:48 But they did it.
02:48 They won their first clutch game of the season.
02:51 After those five minutes, Tatum comes off a nice screen.
02:55 Hits Jalen for an open three.
02:58 Sends LeBron packing.
03:00 Sent them home.
03:02 - Yeah, I thought the Celtics were shit.
03:05 I thought they were really bad.
03:06 I don't think they were good at all.
03:09 They had like stretches like you mentioned,
03:10 like after Joe called that first time out.
03:12 But I thought this was a really bad game.
03:14 And the fact that they won it anyways is obviously a good thing.
03:16 But I thought the offense looked horrible.
03:19 They had 38 field goals and only 15 assists.
03:22 They only took 78 shots and 32 threes.
03:25 Cavs took 16 more shots and 16 more threes in them.
03:28 You shouldn't win that game.
03:29 They did a good job of being aggressive.
03:30 They got to the line 24 times, made 21 of them.
03:32 So like that's huge.
03:33 It's the only reason they won the game.
03:34 And I credit them for that.
03:36 They had some big offensive rebounds.
03:37 They had 10.
03:38 That was good as well.
03:39 But they also turned the ball over 14 times.
03:41 And they weren't just like normal turnovers.
03:42 Like they handed the ball to the Cavs.
03:44 They were terrible turnovers.
03:45 Joe Mazzuolo after the game had a quote.
03:47 And everyone like laughed at him.
03:48 But he was like, "No, I'm fucking serious."
03:50 And so Adam Himmelsbach asked Joe Mazzuolo.
03:52 So he just cleaned up the turnovers in the second half.
03:56 What was the key to that?
03:57 And he said, I transcribed it.
04:00 He said, "Just passing the guys to the guys with the green jerseys.
04:04 That's poise.
04:05 That's the most poise you can have."
04:06 And then Adam Himmelsbach is like following up.
04:08 He goes, "Literally, just pass."
04:10 And Adam's like, "So that's what you said?
04:13 That we're not poised for not passing to each other?"
04:15 And Joe goes, "Yes."
04:16 And like balls are getting deflected and thrown out of bounds.
04:19 And just like pass.
04:19 It's that simple.
04:20 I'm being dead serious.
04:21 Just stay spaced.
04:22 Make the right pass.
04:23 I know.
04:23 I'm sorry.
04:24 I'm not coming off that way.
04:25 But I'm being serious.
04:26 Like he was just so serious.
04:27 Like just fucking pass the ball to the people in the green jerseys.
04:29 And the Celtics didn't do that.
04:30 There were offensive foul turnovers.
04:32 They were literally passing it out of bounds turnovers.
04:35 Pritchard dribbled it off his foot one time.
04:36 Like they were just playing sloppy basketball and gave the Cavs a window to get in this game.
04:40 I thought the defense was rough at times.
04:42 I don't think they closed out on Max Strews quick enough in transition.
04:44 Joe had two fucking angry timeouts where Max Strews just waltzed into a transition three and he had to call a timeout.
04:50 He was getting pissed.
04:51 They gave up two to Sam Merrill that were butt naked wide open in the first half.
04:54 Darius Garland got a couple that were way too easy off the pick and roll drop coverage.
04:59 Looked really bad in this game and they're still going to it.
05:02 Don't know why the fuck they're not playing Tillman.
05:04 Bobby Manning tried to ask about it before the game and Joe just like denied him.
05:08 He like asked the question.
05:09 Joe just goes, "What was your question?"
05:10 And he goes like something about like to get out rest and Joe goes, "Al's fine."
05:14 And that's it.
05:15 It was period.
05:15 End of the question.
05:16 What are you watching the same games that we're watching?
05:19 I don't think it is.
05:20 I think you credit the Celtics for how they were aggressive and they overcame the Cavs defensive adjustments to basically take the three-point game out of the equation.
05:31 Celtics made fucking 12 threes in this game.
05:33 That's got to be like top five fewish they've made in the game all season.
05:36 But I credit the Celtics for staying aggressive and finding ways around that of scoring.
05:40 I thought Jason Tatum was pretty good.
05:43 Not from the three but from inside the arc.
05:46 I thought Jalen Brown did a good job of that as well.
05:47 Same thing at your holiday.
05:48 But the Celtics made 38 shots in this game.
05:52 You don't win many of those games.
05:54 Like credit to them for winning it but I thought they look like shit.
05:58 Can't wait for the box court Twitter people to get their hands on this and be like,
06:03 Adam Silver put in the call 24 free throws for the Celtics just 7 for Cleveland.
06:09 They earned them.
06:10 They earned them.
06:11 They were the more aggressive team.
06:12 This is the reason that teams usually shoot more free throws than the Celtics and the Warriors.
06:17 Like the Warriors don't take any free throws like the Dynasty Warriors because they took so many threes.
06:20 That's what the Cavs did tonight and the Celtics said, okay, you're going to take away three.
06:23 We're going to be aggressive and get inside and they did that.
06:26 Max Drews is the most fucking dumb complainer I've ever seen.
06:30 He'll take a fucking castrate Jalen Brown and they go, what do you mean?
06:35 I didn't do anything like come on.
06:37 Give me a break.
06:38 LeBron must have been impressed like Max Drews was palms up in front of the palms up.
06:43 Go that that is history that you got to see with your own eyes today to go back to Max Drews.
06:51 I did tweet out the King rat picture when we went to Vegas and they had the Christmas set up with the rat in the crown.
06:57 So there's a little Max Drews love Tatum really good Tatum game.
07:04 I thought I thought Tatum had great stretches in this game.
07:07 He came out set the tone after Cleveland goes up when Cleveland got close.
07:13 I think it was the second quarter.
07:15 Maybe it was in the third trying to think it was a second because they were shooting on the right side of the screen.
07:21 He has two great pick and rolls with Luke.
07:27 Yeah, and it was like Cleveland had just cut to one Tatum takes control of the game and he does it without taking difficult shots or shots at all.
07:37 He just made the right read.
07:38 He put pressure on the defense.
07:40 They crushed.
07:42 They wilted and they gave Luke an open dunk twice.
07:46 I was just so happy with with the decision making from him throughout this game.
07:50 There were a couple iffy.
07:51 There was one where it was the fourth quarter, I think, and maybe it was a third and he was at the nail and it was one of those.
08:01 I am shooting this no matter what possessions from Tatum.
08:04 But besides that, I really thought he was pretty good in this game.
08:07 I know he had four turnovers, a couple of them were early and there was the one out of the break.
08:12 But overall, these two games have been a great like, hey, look at me response from Tatum and for what it's worth.
08:19 Tatum made two big shots at the start of the fourth quarter to two tough middies like the ones he wasn't yesterday in the fourth.
08:25 He made a couple of those.
08:26 So I thought that was good business shots from Tatum.
08:29 And the play you mentioned that sent LeBron home was what they should have been doing the whole fucking game.
08:35 Like that's all you need to do.
08:37 Like, why aren't we parlaying our aggressiveness into open threes?
08:41 And I get and I don't want this to sound because I do think there's a balance like credit the Cavs.
08:45 The Cavs have done a good job of taking the three pointer away and you can't just say just do that because the Cavs have made it their point to take that away.
08:52 And I think the Celtics can work harder and have the ability to get back to playing the offense that get them threes.
08:57 But you have to also acknowledge that the Cavs are actively trying to take that away.
09:00 And so I think if the Celtics worked a little harder, they should be able to get to more of those those driving kick threes like the driving kick game.
09:07 I tweeted I tweeted.
09:10 Let me find it here. Midway through the game.
09:13 I tweeted about the offense.
09:16 I said Celtics offense looked really rough.
09:17 Lost two games.
09:18 Way too much mismatch hunting.
09:20 Not enough ball movement slash off ball activity.
09:22 It's why the three pointer attempts are down. Can't get out shot from free by this Cavs team.
09:26 Richard White DMs me that tweet and says the timeline demanded it.
09:30 Basically like all the time was getting there which no threes and we just had like a back and forth like people take threes and they make it into this.
09:38 Like all the responses I got to that tweet were it's not a bad thing.
09:41 They're shooting 60% from the field. They're winning.
09:43 Like that's a good thing and someone else said I'm not sure why it's a bad thing.
09:48 We're taking less threes were shooting 60% and won the game and one game three.
09:52 I'd say we should be shooting more but if it's working not going to go against it.
09:55 And then another one. It's not the offense at the problem tonight.
09:57 They're allowing the Cavs to take 25 threes in a single half.
09:59 That's a defensive issue and I agree that but like it's not Celtics one game three and we'll win game for this is not a bad trend.
10:07 This is playoff basketball. Someone tell Missoula to pipe down and watch Jason Tatum play ball.
10:11 Buddy that is not what needs to happen.
10:13 I never want that. I never want to watch Jason Tatum play ball on his own.
10:18 I want to see Jason Tatum use Jason quote unquote Jason Tatum playing ball and move it into a drive and kick three like he did with Jalen Brown.
10:25 I want to see Jalen Brown use his aggressiveness and kick it out to Al Horford.
10:28 Al Horford who's struggling but like they can get open threes that way and it feels like if they're working a little harder they can get there.
10:33 That said credit them for their aggressiveness and the way that they were able to get to the free throw line so many times and overcome the fact that the Cavs chase them off the three-point line.
10:40 So it is a balance but I just I really haven't liked the offense.
10:43 He's lost two games. Yeah, I agree with you.
10:46 I think the three-pointers are an important like little like level up that they get because they're getting the math boost to it really helps them be one of the top offenses.
10:56 However, I was impressed in this game again for stretches.
10:59 There were you know, the the five-minute without a field goal stretch the fourth quarter that'll make you sweat.
11:05 You don't love to see it. But there were great stretches in this game that they just forced the issue
11:09 and they got to the line when things weren't going well, like even during that five-minute stretch.
11:14 They did score a few times from the line.
11:16 They got themselves to the stripe got easy looks and actually made them Jalen seven of nine big boy game from him at the free throw line shout out.
11:25 And I think that's seven of seven after the first two.
11:28 So even even more props to him. He's been pretty decent in these spots in the playoffs.
11:34 But yeah, it's different watching them play this way, but I'm happy to see that they're able to win.
11:41 Despite that I agree with you that it is important to win the math battle
11:46 and the way they've won games all season has been through the math battle
11:50 and they've also won games this season defense first and in the first half you saw a ton of that.
11:56 They got stops at the beginning of the game.
11:58 Cleveland was turning the ball over just as much as the Celtics were in the cellies got out ran and made him pay.
12:04 So if they can get going on defense, I trust the offense will fall into place regardless of the threes.
12:10 But if all else fails you do hope to have the math advantage in your back pocket.

12:46 One of our favorite picks here at the how about them Celtics podcast is the drew holiday blocks.
12:52 It's usually point five. He just needs more than point five blocks.
12:56 That means one drew holiday block and that pick is in the bag price picks is really simple to play.

13:21 It's that easy. You want to talk about math?
13:28 So the Celtics have only had 15 games this season playoffs and regular season combined
13:33 where they've taken 38 or fewer threes. They are five and ten in those games.
13:38 Yep, five and ten in those games that not including tonight.
13:42 That means of the what 17 18 games.
13:46 They've lost this season 10 of them was when they took 38 or fewer shots
13:51 and the Celtics took 38 or fewer shots tonight and won the fucking game.
13:54 So I think that's something they only have done that one other time this playoffs
13:58 and it was game. I don't know which game against Miami.
14:01 This was that was game four against Miami.
14:05 They only made 36 shots, but the heat only made 35 and so they won
14:10 but the Cavs made more shots than the Celtics in this game.
14:12 They made three more shots and they made three more threes.
14:15 That is a what they had a nine nine point advantage on field goals alone
14:23 and the Celtics overcame it with three throws and aggressiveness
14:25 and so credit to them for that credit to them for the second chance opportunities
14:28 credit to Tatum for being aggressive and making plays in big spots.
14:31 Like you mentioned credit to Jalen Brown for using his aggressiveness
14:33 making his threes as well.
14:37 We do I feel like I'm saying the same shit over and over again.
14:43 Can we please play Tillman like it? I don't get it.
14:47 I don't get it. It doesn't make any sense. That's all we've talked about up here.
14:51 I don't give a fuck what game it is. Just please God give this man Al Horford some rest.
14:54 He's okay. He can't do it. I was a do it right now.
14:57 It was awesome. Like Cornette best guy on the floor stretches in this game to me,
15:01 even though somehow he was a minus four. He was awesome in the first half.
15:05 He was all over the offensive glass. He was converting put backs.
15:09 He had very very consistent looks underneath.
15:13 What did he finish the game four or five? Yeah, he just looked dominant at times.
15:18 Evan Mobley didn't have an answer for him.
15:20 He had a couple good contests on Mobley to like I was excited watching Cornette play today.
15:24 I was like at a crossroads. I was like, is this the Cornette overtaking of Horford?
15:31 Yeah, Cornette was really good. Like you said, it took us 14 minutes to talk about this man.
15:36 He was a unit. Yeah, dude. He I tweeted and he carries sitting next to me.
15:41 So you hear me when I say this. I tweeted about Luke Cornette bodying Evan Mobley in the paint for a rebound.
15:47 And I just said it looks like a regarding the other day,
15:52 but it did do the Luke Cornette sort of for that rebound and made Evan Mobley look like a fucking third grader.
15:57 Cornette was awesome in this game. He deserves a ton of respect for the way he played.
16:00 And this is like me saying play Tillman isn't saying don't play Cornette more play Cornette more.
16:04 I'm fine if you give Cornette more minutes and for what it's worth,
16:07 Horford did only end up playing 28 in this game largely in thanks to Cornette.
16:11 So that is a good thing. But man, Horford just he's a step slow everywhere, man.
16:15 He doesn't have his touch. He's getting hooked. I know he had a huge bottom.
16:20 The rest of the challenge, but he just it's it's not fun to watch, man.
16:26 We love out here and it's I know you love Al. I know our everyone loves out.
16:31 You need it. You need him back. I don't doubt that I'll be back.
16:33 It's just it's frustrating to see him struggling out there because you know what he's capable of
16:38 and he's it's the Cavs are kind of picking on him. Al Horford over 10 game three and four Celtics to it.
16:44 So they were able to survive it, which is true positive.
16:48 And hopefully they close out in five.
16:51 And by the time the next series rolls around, he's rested slash Porzingis is back.
16:59 Yeah, you sent me something. So we're going to watch this video.
17:02 I need to say something first. I accidentally left the video playing in another tab.
17:06 I came back to talk here and I thought I had tinnitus
17:08 because it's just like this is a whirring sound like I'm just here.
17:11 I'm like sitting here. If you notice, oh, is that what you were doing with? Yeah.
17:14 I was like, what the fuck is going on over there?
17:17 Is he got his ears ringing from their in arena production?
17:21 Yeah, dude, but this game, I don't want to say a ref show.
17:27 This game, officials are making their presence known tweet.
17:30 Absolutely. It didn't it didn't matter because I don't think it like I mean,
17:35 Cavs fans are going to say it way in the Celtics favor,
17:37 but I think it was just a product of the Celtics aggressiveness in the Cavs three point shots.
17:42 But this happened Tyler Ford.
17:45 So Jalen Brown, this is from Brian Robb.
17:49 No, no, he's not the guy that kicked him out. No, that's Evan. Evan something.
17:53 Yeah. He's an Asian. He's an Asian man.
17:58 I know his name is Evan something. Now I want to know NBA ref Evan Scott.
18:07 Tyler Ford. It's sad that I knew that offhand.
18:10 Jalen Brown got very fired up after having to clear out referee Tyler Ford before his clutch three
18:15 with 109 left in the fourth quarter and Brown talked about this postgame.
18:19 He literally said let me find this and see if it's transcribed yet,
18:23 but he wanted a whole thing about it. Like he was asked like three questions about this and like.
18:28 Kept going and going and going about it. But the snippet Brian Robb,
18:32 shout out Brian Robb put in the tweet was I was telling him to get his ass out the way.
18:37 But here's the clip of what happened and what Jalen did to quote get his ass out of the way right here.
18:48 In jail as defense. No, that's you. If you let it keep going, you see him say it.
18:55 Wait, does he say it on the way back? Yeah. After team slaps the shit out of him.
19:05 Get your ass out of the way. For I Jalen talked about that after the game too.
19:13 Jason hitting him and he goes out. Yeah, I'm gonna get him back for that.
19:17 And Jason's the shit out of him again. Yeah. Jason said, Jason said, yeah,
19:23 I didn't realize how hard I hit him. I guess I've been hitting the weight room too much.
19:27 That was a offended attraction. But yeah, no, Jalen was fired up after the name dropped him to it was that referee.
19:33 Tyler, he's just fucking in the way. I said, get your ass out the way.
19:38 That's a heater. It was very funny.
19:44 I'm writing about the offense after the game. And so I asked Joe and Jalen or season Joe and Jason about basically,
19:51 like how have you like the aggressiveness with the Cavs basically running you guys off the three-point line
19:57 and they gave very similar responses and you could probably fucking write it with AI,
20:01 but I'll read it anyways, just because it's my angle.
20:04 And this is I guess my podcast, but Joe said, let me see.
20:10 I gotta find it. God damn it. Sorry. This is rolling to do over there.
20:17 I know. I know. I know. This is bad podcasting by me. Oh, yeah.
20:21 Joe said again, it's never really been about the three-point shot.
20:23 It's been about taking the best shot. And regardless of that,
20:25 we've been fighting to take really good shots and that's the most important thing.
20:28 And so again, AI answer, but Jason Tatum, that's not transcribed yet,
20:34 but Jason Tatum was basically like the same thing.
20:38 He just he just said the same shit as Joe. He's like, yeah,
20:40 we're fighting for the best thing we can get credit to them, their defense, etc, etc.
20:44 But I do think it is, I don't know the word for it.
20:51 Not disappointing, but like jarring to see how easily the Cavs defense has shaken them
20:57 from their offensive identity. Like they played the same way the whole year.
21:02 I don't I don't think it's going to be hugely impactful moving forward one
21:06 because I think they will just naturally figure it out and learn and adapt and to two
21:13 because they fucking won the game anyway,
21:15 so they did find a way around it and it was okay.
21:17 And also three if Porzingis comes back, I think that will drastically change things
21:22 and they just missed a bunch of shots, but I don't know it was I don't like
21:26 that they only took their 32 threes tonight like like that.
21:28 That is that that's a like half the reason why they lost game two against the heat
21:33 because they got outshot from three and they didn't do that this time,
21:36 but I'm not a fan of how this offense has been going.
21:39 It just felt like a lot a lot of ISO and mismatch hunting overly so I will say they improved
21:44 on the one screen and will rock from there from game three that was frustrating to watch,
21:51 but it just did feel like they settled too much at times in this game,
21:55 even though it felt like in game three was a lot of settling for the middies
22:00 and bad step backs and this one it was we're going to drive
22:03 and it would just be selling for mismatch,
22:05 but they end up driving on it and I think that's how they capitalized it more so which is a good thing.
22:09 If you ask me, that's how they should definitely attack mismatches.
22:13 Like if you're going to do the mismatch hunting,
22:17 that's how you do it attack because the whole point of attacking a mismatch is to put pressure on the defense.
22:23 You're not putting pressure on the defense.
22:25 If you're taking follow a mid-range shots now at the beginning of the fourth quarter Tatum took a couple made a couple
22:31 and he made his presence felt and it was good.
22:34 Then it opened it up for the drive and things got going for the rest of the guys.
22:37 I believe holiday was the beneficiary but couple driving kicks at least at the beginning
22:41 and you know as the quarter went on they ended up getting the dagger from a nice little driving kick from Tatum attacking a mismatch off a pick from.
22:52 I think Derek White came up and set the pick and gave him Garland and then Jalen was open.
22:57 But the point is you got the small guy on you go inside.
23:00 That's the whole point that that's why you're attacking Garland.
23:04 It's not so you can shoot over the top of them as pretty as it looks.
23:08 It's to force the issue and as ugly as it was at times.
23:11 I think they did the best job that we've seen them do of it so far.
23:17 Yeah, I guess that's the one positive from tonight about the offense,
23:21 but just like do that and use it to create threes and I again,
23:26 like I said, the stuff I think a big part of it is the Cavs are just living with the one-on-one drives
23:30 and staying home on the three-point shooters.
23:32 And so there is that mix but I think they're forcing the Celtics to play a low scoring offense style
23:40 and the Celtics just need to respond with good defense,
23:42 which we can talk about that to like Joe is that's about it after the game like how they performed in clutch time.
23:46 He said I thought everyone talks about clutch offense,
23:48 but I thought our clutch defense was great and I do think they did a better job of their clutch defense.
23:53 But like you said at the start of the show,
23:55 it felt like there were stretches in this game where they played great lockdown defense
23:59 and then there were stretches in this game where they just fucking melted into the floor
24:02 and let the Cavs do whatever they wanted.
24:04 And so it was frustrating to see both of those.
24:07 And I think the drop defense got torched a little bit too much again.
24:10 I thought their transition defense was pretty bad again,
24:13 which was a trend from games to especially when they lost.
24:18 Yeah, but I don't know it was it was a mixed bag one thing.
24:22 I'll say about the offense and then we can wrap or talk about something else.
24:27 So you mentioned the shot differential 94 for Cleveland 78 for Boston differential of three made shots three made threes as well.
24:38 But then you get a little let's see, let's say that they made up 12 shots from the free throw line
24:43 because they took 24 free throws. So then they're only four shots behind Cleveland
24:50 and they won the battle on the glass big time.
24:52 They out rebounded them by 16 points. The turnovers were the big culprit today.
24:57 So if they I think that the Celtics can play the offense that you saw today
25:03 and it shouldn't be a problem as long as they tighten things up.
25:07 I don't think what you saw today should be the standard, but I think they're making progress.
25:13 This is what we've been talking about for a while or at least me screaming to the heavens saying
25:18 when the threes aren't falling there needs to be something else that they can turn to.
25:22 I don't think they need to abandon the threes. I think the threes are great.
25:25 I think the threes played a huge role in how they played and dominated the regular season,
25:30 but to see them be able to win a game tonight despite going without a field goal for five minutes of the fourth quarter.
25:37 They built a 15 point lead early on in that quarter through the offense that they played in this game.
25:45 It's not a bad thing. This is like a learning process and you know,
25:50 Missoula and the boys are going to learn from it because that's been their mantra all year is to grow
25:54 and move from game to game. So this is a nice thing for them to keep in their back pocket.
26:00 It's the slider in the pitch mix instead of just the fastball at the end of the games.
26:05 I think we saw something good today, even if it wasn't pretty.
26:10 Hey gang, let me tell you a little something about game time.
26:13 The NBA playoffs have arrived. It's the most wonderful time of the year.
26:18 Who doesn't want to get in on the fun? With game time,
26:20 you can experience it with your own eyes, get yourself great seats to games with even greater prices.
26:28 That's right. You can save when getting your tickets with game time.
26:33 It's an authorized ticket marketplace of the NBA,
26:35 which makes getting those playoff tickets even faster and easier.
26:39 Plus the prices on game time usually go down the closer it gets to tip off.
26:45 Who doesn't love to save a little bit of money? I certainly do.
26:48 I used to game time back in March when I took the lady to a game.
26:51 We went to see the Celtics play our Pistons and it was great.
26:55 I could look and see what the seat view would be just using the app.
26:59 Didn't have to be surprised when I showed up. Plus you do get those last minute deals.
27:04 They have the flash deals and zone deals. Zone deals,
27:07 which you can choose a section of the arena and let game time choose those seats.
27:11 You'll save a little bit of money that way. You can download the game time app,
27:16 create an account and use code CLNS for $20 off your first purchase.
27:21 Again, that's code CLNS for $20 off your first purchase.
27:25 Terms apply. Again, create an account and redeem code CLNS for $20 off.
27:31 Download game time today. Last minute tickets. Lowest price guaranteed.
27:38 I just I don't like it's twofold for me
27:41 because I don't like how easily they were thrown off their best offense,
27:45 but I also like how they were able to adapt and win in a different way.
27:49 I just worry that this number of free throws this efficiency from the field
27:56 isn't sustainable because they made a lot of tough shots tonight.
27:59 Like they made a lot of tough shots inside.
28:02 They made a lot of tough midis like the ones Tatum made like I mentioned.
28:06 I think on the flip side Horford will start making shots again like that Matt.
28:10 I'll leave it out. We didn't talk about it.
28:13 Derek White is just like non-existent now. He's doing what he can.
28:17 The Cavs look like ironically Richard White message me about it.
28:21 His take quote offense changed impact shooters like Sam and Derek easy to see
28:25 why their percentages drop plus Cavs not giving Derek looks ball went to Allen.
28:29 They never rotated live with the out jumper like it does feel like they are taking the three-point line
28:33 and because of that like Mr. White mentioned Derek White's not going to be as effective.
28:40 Listen, I don't know. It's weird.
28:42 If you're going to get 27 combined from Drew and Peyton Pritchard,
28:46 I'll live with one of six from Derek White Derek White by the way,
28:48 who's one make was a big one made a three when the sellers are kind of reeling.
28:52 So shout out to him for stepping up in the big moment.
28:57 Yeah, I mean I see what you mean with the maybe the shot making isn't sustainable,
29:02 but if you force the issue like this the way they did you will get foul calls
29:06 or you should there's the that's palms up.
29:10 We didn't get the call and then they don't get back and it unravels
29:14 but you're concerned about the getting thrown off the initial game plan.
29:18 That's what teams are going to do to them up until the finals Miami did it in the game to that the Celtics lost
29:23 even though Miami shot the lights out.
29:25 You did see a lot more mismatch hunting.
29:27 If you go back like that's what we talked about after the game and game two in this one.
29:33 It felt like it was more of just Cleveland bringing the heat
29:36 but this the Celtics adjusted and they managed to win.
29:39 So it's it's not the worst.
29:42 It's not you don't want this should not be the primary attack,
29:45 but it's good that they have it's a good thing.
29:49 I think in the end it's I you know,
29:53 how you say you can't rely on the officials.
29:55 You can't rely on the officials like I get that aggressiveness will bring foul calls,
30:01 but I wish you could work for better shot quality in general.
30:05 That's my only right there were stretches where my dad and I were like everything's tough.
30:10 This has been Noah's biggest thing to she's like talked about it.
30:13 We like a lot while we've been on the trip drop defense.
30:16 She fucking hates it. I see like the value a little bit.
30:21 It's getting torched. It's getting torched
30:23 and the Celtics have done a good job of playing over the screens and contesting from behind especially like they did in Miami a lot.
30:28 Pitt Pritchard did a good job on hero, but it's given a lot of space to work with.
30:34 And I'll say this. Jalen Brunson is going to fucking murder drop defense.
30:39 If they get there like like, you know what I'm saying? Like, come on.
30:43 Come on. If they get there, but Halliburton also will for what it's worth.
30:48 I said, yeah, either team. I don't know man.
30:52 I would love it to be Halliburton. I really don't want to go to India.
31:01 No, I hear you. I hear you. At least it won't be the most expensive place to go.
31:06 I know but I would say I'm on flights if it's New York's I could drive you take the train to yeah,
31:10 I think we would take the train folks about that. I will say though.
31:13 I said I want to come to Cleveland. Cleveland's kind of nice. I had a good time in Cleveland.
31:17 It's like a nice this is cool. We did play pickup.
31:20 We played pick up all me got on list everyone out there nine of us.
31:24 It was me Kari Bobby Kravitzky and Bobby Manning.
31:27 Justin Turpin, Kari Thompson, Noah does L. John Corrales,
31:33 Richie Lemay who is CLNS is photography guy and just way Pavone. Did I get everybody?
31:37 I think I had everybody we played pick up. We played four and four half court is very small court.
31:43 So like there was no corner three like it was very close.
31:47 Yes, it was a health track sport. Yeah, it sucked because we're playing four and four and there's no spacing
31:52 and we play half court because there's somebody on the other half the court.
31:55 Yeah, it was just all packed. I guarded Corrales for the first couple games.
32:00 I played pretty well. I thought and then Kari beat my ass.
32:06 It happens man. He's he's fucking huge. It got to the point where so they're like I'm down low trying to like fight for positioning with Kari
32:13 and they're up at the top like not even checking the ball and they're like,
32:15 what's the score is it this and I scream I'm like, hey, figure it out.
32:19 I'm dying because Kari's just like shut up. Yeah, like I fucking did pick something but it was good.
32:25 I hit it. I hit a couple good ones. I got past Kari.
32:27 One to give me a little shove and I finished anyways respect.
32:31 There was another one where there's another one where I am.
32:36 I am talking. He just goes talking about how I whooped.
32:41 Can you hear him? But there's another one where I have I had the ball.
32:49 Somebody set a screen for me and Noah tried to like pick up on it,
32:52 but I like spun moved past your Eurostat past Corrales and finished.
32:55 I should have quit there. I was like on the drive. I truly think you're pretty good on the drive.
33:00 I'm just out of shape and slow.
33:04 This are going to walks change. You go out for a walk, put on a podcast.
33:08 So like make your day up and doing it. I know my problem is I was fucking exhausted.
33:14 So like the last game I lost every game. First of all, it was bad showing stuff.
33:19 I first three games. I was with some combination of Kari, Richie, Josue and Bobby.
33:26 We like we kept losing. So we would kept shooting to see who stays on and who's off.
33:31 Me and Richie's pick and roll was elite by the way. Shout out Richie.
33:34 Like we were kicking ass. I was like dream on to his stuff.
33:40 I was talking to Noah today. She goes one half of my body hurts because you would car.
33:43 I just kept fucking screaming. But we lost those games and I was guarding Corrales in those games
33:51 and we just we lost. We couldn't score whatever and then Corrales left.
33:56 And so I jumped in with Bobby Gritsky, Noah and Justin who are on crosses team
34:03 and I had to guard Kari and then he just kicked my ass and that was so I lost every game.
34:09 We even played two on two is me and Terpen versus Bobby and no one we lost those two.
34:13 So I literally did not win. I literally did not win a single fucking game.
34:16 I will say Terp Justin shooter.
34:19 My fucking lose that Noah brother just post up.
34:26 Now Bobby's strong motherfucker, dude. He Ludore.
34:30 Yeah. I couldn't I tried but I spent the whole podcast criticizing drop defense,
34:39 but I had to drop to cover Bobby on the roll.
34:41 And as soon as Justin got screened, no, I just did a fucking step back
34:44 and made everything which is annoying. It was fun.
34:48 I had a good time. This is me complaining, but I can't wait to get you guys beat my ass.
34:53 I was awful immensely game yesterday. So yeah, you guys lost.
34:57 I heard fucking bombs. Yeah, we lost. We had five people four of us played bad not winning formula.
35:05 Also insider inside on how about them Celtics ESPN records on their phones.
35:11 Like I see Tim Bond times right now on the court. It's just him a tripod in his phone.
35:16 So if you can do it, I make you do it.
35:18 Shut up. Jay Tim Bond temps respect and then Jay.
35:22 Well, to be multi-media. Yes. Somebody said that earlier today too.
35:26 And I said I had the same reaction like what but then I figured it out.
35:32 Who is anything else? This isn't gonna be a full pot unfortunately,
35:34 but we got most thing bong to to ping bong wolves nuggets nuggets not dead to to.
35:43 Yep, and Mavs Thunder what score ads are going to go up three to one at least watching.
35:48 They're up nine in the third quarter. They're at home.
35:56 Oh Celtics undefeated on the road now. Yep. Maybe be better at home.
36:01 You're welcome. I did it for it. When at home. I'm not complaining about the road.
36:06 I'm not taking it for granted. I when the summer rolls around.
36:09 I just want to watch fucking home game highlights, please.
36:13 That's really what I want. I want to be able to watch a good game at the garden.
