Knaresborough and Ilkley Lido granted Water Bathing Status

Two top Yorkshire bathing spots have been granted this status.

00:00 As we come into the summer months and the sun is shining some days, many of us are thinking

00:06 about going bathing in our local river. Well, good news and some bad news that two rivers

00:14 in Yorkshire have been designated water bathing status. So of course, Ilkley Lido and also

00:21 the River Nidd at Knaresborough. While it's great that Knaresborough and Ilkley Lido have

00:26 been granted this bathing water status by the government, it doesn't actually mean that

00:32 the water is clean. But the good news is there'll be routine testing by the Environment Agency

00:39 throughout the summer months. So from now until September, there'll be routines testing

00:45 so you'll know at what point the water's at.
