00:35to a much-anticipated finish in Rapolano Terme in Tuscany, featuring three gravel sectors,

00:42two of which regularly feature in Strade Bianche.

00:46A long, flat run-in with a tailwind meant that the opening 70, 80, 90km of the race

00:51were always going to be aggressive as a big group tried to get free.

00:55Simon Clarke from Israel Premiertech repeatedly tried to place himself in a breakaway,

01:00but with so many different teams trying to get in a move, it was chaotic, fast racing.

01:05Julian Alaphilippe, Attila Valter, a number of riders repeatedly attacking,

01:10and they made their way to the first climb of the day, the Volterra climb,

01:14and it was there that a group finally, featuring Julian Alaphilippe once again, got free.

01:20Filippo Fiorelli going over the climb in first place,

01:24a brilliant bit of climbing from the rider from VF group Bardiani.

01:28Luke Plapp, the Australian national champion,

01:30following the move of his great friend Caden Groves, the Australian sprinter then,

01:34eventually prized away a seven-rider group when Andrea Vendrami got across,

01:39and that was the first time that the race took stable shape.

01:43But eventually, it started to split up as they headed towards the first bonus sprint

01:48at Cosole d'Elsa with Caden Groves, taking the points from Filippo Fiorelli

01:53and closing his disadvantage to Jonathan Milan in the Maglia Ciclamino.

01:58Then they hit the first of the gravel sectors,

02:00and the group of seven riders were still back together again,

02:03as behind them in the peloton, Ineos Grenadiers started to race hard

02:06to position Geraint Thomas on the lead.

02:09Up and over the last categorized climb of the day,

02:12which was also the end of the second gravel sector,

02:15Tup Grotti, those three riders were still together.

02:21Through the Intergiro sprint, inseparable, and onto the final gravel sector.

02:28And then, in the second gravel sector,

02:30the group of seven riders were still back together again,

02:32as behind them in the peloton, Ineos Grenadiers started to race hard.

03:23that has produced drama from the flag drop in Viareggio.

03:26And here we come, Platt past a beaten Sanchez now,

03:29trying to get alongside Julian Alaphilippe.
