Glasgow’s City Centre is set for major redevelopment

The city council has recently approved major renovations which will change the face of Glasgow.

00:00Glasgow is set for substantial growth over the next six years as a new range of development

00:04projects have been approved. As the local authority moves forward with its 2024 city

00:09centre strategy, here are some of the key changes that will change the face of Glasgow.

00:12St Enoch's Centre is set to be demolished and replaced with a revitalised shopping and

00:16leisure space, up to 1,700 homes. A high quality office space and the former Debenhams is set

00:22to host a four-star hotel with a rooftop restaurant. This is expected to take more than 20 years

00:27to complete.

00:28George Square is also set for a massive redevelopment with a new water feature, green space and

00:32a platform for events. The Met Tower, recently featured in the list of the world's ugliest

00:36buildings, is set to be completely transformed as it's demolished and rebuilt. The £60 million

00:42investment intends to see the site become a world-class commercial hub for tech and

00:46digital business.

00:47Ingram Street is also set to change, a redevelopment being built which will feature 109 sustainable

00:52apartments and ground floor commercial space and a publicly accessible garden with lots

00:57of greenery.
