Severe Weather Alert as Central US Braces for Possible Tornadoes Amid Ongoing Streak

A multiday severe weather threat could continue the ongoing streak of tornadoes across the central US this week. On Monday, 25 million people are under threat of severe storms from Dallas to Sioux Falls, with a level 4 out of 5 risk near Oklahoma City and Wichita. Some of the same areas hit by tornadoes last week face another round of severe storms on Monday afternoon and evening. By Tuesday, the threat may shift east into the Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley with tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds all possible.  May is typically the peak month for US tornadoes, and 2024 is already above average for preliminary counts.
