00:00 What do you make of some of your colleagues in Congress celebrating these protesters?
00:06 Not the violent ones, but protesters on college campuses.
00:09 You're applauding police action here.
00:12 Fellow New York Democrats are criticizing police getting involved.
00:14 I want to read what they posted and get your response.
00:17 Congressman Jamal Bowman posted this quote, as a former educator, I know how dangerous
00:22 the over policing and militarization of our schools is.
00:25 This is shameful and unacceptable.
00:26 Our kids deserve better.
00:28 Our teachers deserve better and our schools deserve better.
00:31 And Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted this quote, if any kid is hurt tonight,
00:36 responsibility will fall on the mayor and university presidents.
00:39 Other leaders in schools have found a safety escalatory path.
00:42 This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety, a nightmare in the making.
00:47 What's your reaction here?
00:48 Well, it's it's very selective what those members say.
00:52 I mean, Jamal Bowman to talk about public safety.
00:54 Here's a guy that didn't like a vote that was coming up.
00:56 So he pulled a fire alarm at the U.S. Capitol.
00:59 He should have spent time in jail for that, if not faced expulsion himself.
01:04 You know, anything he says is laughable.
01:06 And I don't think he's going to be in Congress very much longer.
01:09 But when when you you think about this, we have Jewish students in this country that
01:17 no longer feel safe on their campuses.
01:19 I talk to Jews in this country all the time to say that they've never felt anti-Semitism
01:24 so close to the surface.
01:26 You know, there's always a subtext to some extent.
01:29 But now it seems fashionable from the left to be anti-Jew, to be, you know, to talk about
01:36 the harm to the Jewish people.
01:39 It's time that we wake up.
01:41 No American should walk in fear in the greatest country in the history of the world, let alone
01:47 on a college campus, which is supposed to be a marketplace of free ideas.
01:50 Yet you have people blockading Jewish students from going to class, blocking entrances.
02:00 Saw some footage just this morning from UCLA where they stood and prevented a Jewish student
02:08 from going to class.
02:13 We wouldn't have tolerated this, you know, someone trying to segregate our schools, you
02:18 know, from African-American students, and we sure as hell in 2024 should never allow
02:22 someone to not be allowed to go to their class because they happen to be Jewish.
02:28 This needs to be stopped.
02:31 And these university presidents need to be held accountable.
02:34 I really salute what Congresswoman Stefanik and the House and Labor Committee have done,
02:41 shining a light on what's going on on these campuses, because we pour hellish federal
02:46 money on the big educational industrial complex in this country.
02:50 And you have a president that wants to cancel loans that these people signed for, might
02:55 not have had a job attached to the degree program, but he wants to cancel these loans
02:59 left and right.
03:01 And the American people, I know my constituents say, "Hell no, you shouldn't cancel loans."
03:08 And we need to starve off this when we see this kind of behavior on a college campus.
03:14 This is supposed to be a place where young people go to learn their vocation, to harness
03:21 their passion into something that makes them a productive citizen, not to make them a hate
03:25 monger.
03:26 And that's what we're finding right now.
03:29 Way more hate mongers being bred on America's college campuses with this anti-Semitic rhetoric
03:35 than we have people that are serious about a job.
03:39 I mean, to listen to these Columbia protesters worrying about getting arrested because they
03:45 have finals.
03:48 Actions have consequences, and you deserve to face the consequences for your actions.
03:54 On Tuesday night, when the police went into Columbia, there was a mixture of both students
03:59 and what Mayor Eric Adams called outside agitators arrested.
04:04 They weren't affiliated with Columbia University.
04:06 Do you have any indication of who these outside agitators are?
04:10 I have no proof, but let's face it, every time we have a situation in this country where
04:15 unrest is there, George Soros isn't too far behind with some of this liberal dark money.
04:23 You have these dark money organizations that fund, there's plenty of indication they were
04:28 involved in the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020, very conveniently in
04:33 a place where there was great social unrest, pallets of brick somehow got delivered.
04:39 There's clearly solicitations out there for paid agitators to go to campuses to demonstrate.
04:46 There's money funding these efforts to move the students around from campus to campus
04:50 around New York City.
04:52 There is clearly a network putting money behind this effort.
04:58 Why someone would invest in this to create unrest, I really don't understand it myself.
05:05 I don't see how this helps our country be stronger, especially if they're supporters
05:11 of this president.
05:13 But we have to take our campuses back.
05:16 We have to reimagine what higher education actually is in America.
05:22 It's supposed to prepare people for jobs in the future, in their lives.
05:26 And right now, I'm not seeing that.
