00:08 Today we went again all in.

00:12 All the girls worked really hard for this and of course it's really nice to be able

00:17 to finish it off.

00:18 So yeah, very happy with this win.

00:22 Marianne Vos on Visma Lisa bike got it spot on in Teruel yesterday and the most decorated

00:27 female rider in history would love to double up today in Zadar Gotha.

00:31 However the word on everyone's lips before the start of stage four was echelons.

00:35 There were strong crosswinds forecast throughout the day and a good chance that this race would

00:40 be split to pieces.

00:42 So everyone in the peloton, especially the overall favourites, would have to be on high

00:45 alert.

00:50 On paper this looks like one of the most straightforward stages of the week.

00:54 A mainly downhill run of 142.3km from Molina de Aragon to Zadar Gotha.

01:00 But with the wind there is very little chance of it coming down to a bunch sprint.

01:08 Lizzie Dignan said she expected this stage to be chaos and she was right on the money.

01:13 By the time the live pictures began the peloton had been blown apart in the crosswinds with

01:17 a group of just 19 riders in the front group.

01:20 Six of them were from SD Works Pro Time, including the current race leader Blanca Vaz and the

01:25 overall favourite Demi Follering.

01:28 GC contenders Elisa Longo Borghini, Kasia Nwevi-Odoma and Juliette Labusse had also

01:33 made the split, along with Alison Jackson and Marianna Vos, the winners of stages two

01:38 and three.

01:39 A very powerful group then and they led by just over a minute at the halfway point of

01:43 the stage.

01:45 Some big names had missed the move though, including Gaia Raiolini, Mavi Garcia and Evita

01:49 Musik so their teams were all chasing.

01:52 Mavi Starr also weren't happy despite having Scheele Gutierrez at the front, the German

01:56 champion Lianna Lippert going to work.

01:59 And thanks to their combined efforts the gap soon came down to around 40 seconds.

02:04 But it was never going to be easy to reel in this leading group containing some of the

02:09 best and strongest riders in the world.

02:11 They continued to collaborate smoothly and the gap soon crept up to over a minute again.

02:17 19 then became 18 at the front as Elena Ciccini stopped due to a mechanical and unlike her

02:23 team mate Marlon Reusser who had earlier fought her way back in after a similar problem, the

02:27 Italian had let herself roll back and be caught by the chase group.

02:31 Meanwhile her team mate Vaz appeared to be struggling a little bit.

02:35 The Hungarian champion was complaining of back pain yesterday.

02:38 This would perhaps be her final day in the red jersey.

02:42 A few spots of rain starting to fall as they entered the final 40 kilometres.

02:47 Oh no we've got a big crash in that second group on the road.

02:51 It soon became clear that the front group would contest the stage win with the gap reaching

02:55 a minute and 30 seconds on a very fast day indeed.

02:59 The average speed around 48 kilometres an hour.

03:02 The top four overall were all at the front separated by just 11 seconds and there were

03:06 valuable bonuses up for grabs at the intermediate sprint in Santa Fe.

03:12 Here we go and it's Miss Melissa Mike on the front doing the lead out.

03:17 Marianne Vos comes out in that green jersey ahead of Blanca Vaz.

03:20 No challenge there in the end.

03:23 Maximum points and seconds to Marianne Vos on the line.

03:27 Vos becoming the virtual race leader thanks to those six bonus seconds and she had another

03:32 prize in mind, a second successive stage victory, but EF Education Cannondale had other ideas.

03:39 And now we're seeing the attacks go in and it is American rider Kristen Faulkner who

03:43 now goes on the attack.

03:45 Our superstar lead out rider for Alison Jackson on stage two.

03:50 Kristen Faulkner absolutely flying clear as the other riders scrambled to chase her down.

03:54 But the American still had a gap of around 10 seconds heading into the final kilometre

03:59 and it didn't look like anybody was going to catch her.

04:03 Inside the final 200 metres now for Faulkner about to take the stage victory of stage four

04:08 La Bavata Feminina and the crowd are going wild.

04:12 Kristen Faulkner comes through for the victory for EF Education Cannondale.

04:20 We've got a strong sprint from behind though.

04:22 Vos is leading it out.

04:23 No, it's Georgia Baker that takes it on the line there for Liv Alula-Jaco.

04:29 Well this is turning into some Vuelta Feminina for EF Education Cannondale.

04:34 Faulkner landing their second win of the week after helping Jackson sprint to victory two

04:38 days ago.

04:40 The American joining her Canadian team mate on 10 career victories and four of them have

04:44 now come in 2024.

04:47 We came to try and win some stages and we've already won two.

04:50 So I think it's early in the Vuelta and we're already so excited and so proud of what we've

04:55 accomplished so far.

04:57 Fortunately Allison and I were in good position and we were able to make the front group and

05:00 then from then on it was just kind of fight with the group and cooperate with the group.

05:05 There was one point the gap came down to 30 seconds and we tried to rally people and then

05:12 it went back out and so it was a good day.

05:16 Faulkner winning it by 10 seconds from Baker, Vasse, Vasse and Gutierrez on a day that has

05:20 completely shaken up the general classification.

05:24 It was a very bad day for some of the overall contenders though.

05:28 The chase group containing Raeleni and co. coming in just over two minutes down.

05:33 Vasse is our new race leader thanks to her 10 bonus seconds today.

05:36 She leads Vasse by five seconds with Faulkner now third at nine seconds.

05:40 Longa Borghini and following aren't too far back.

05:44 Vasse remains the leader of the points classification with a total of 103.

05:48 Vasse is second on 95 followed by Jackson, Faulkner and Marcus.

05:53 There were no mountains points handed out today so Caroline Schinkels is still in the

05:57 polka dot jersey ahead of Maria Benito.

06:00 Four stages down and four to go and it feels like a new race will start on Thursday when

06:04 we hit the climbs.
