00:00:00 the the the the the the the the.
00:00:27 the promo. (laughs)
00:00:29 (laughs)
00:00:32 - So we're back again.
00:00:35 You can't shake us that easy.
00:00:37 Bleary eyed, however goofy punchy you guys might be
00:00:42 or these guys look with all the work they've been doing,
00:00:45 there's a guy behind the scenes right now
00:00:47 who's honestly like 90% dead right now.
00:00:51 And that's Ahmet.
00:00:52 So once again, we're gonna give it up for Ahmet.
00:00:54 - Kickin' ass.
00:00:55 - Kickin' ass and keeping us all together right now.
00:00:57 I've got, like he's got IVs and transfusions going on
00:01:01 to just keep him upright.
00:01:03 And somehow he's just mainlining,
00:01:06 he's pouring coffee directly into his eyeballs
00:01:08 to stay awake.
00:01:09 (laughs)
00:01:11 But somehow he's done it
00:01:12 and somehow he's made it through the straps.
00:01:14 And we're almost through it as well.
00:01:15 Approaching the beginning of round six.
00:01:18 The Patriots have picked 180.
00:01:20 We're not there yet.
00:01:21 We're near the tail end of round five.
00:01:23 And yes, it does appear that the Patriots
00:01:25 did exactly what we thought might happen.
00:01:28 Again, you don't have a lot of collateral
00:01:31 with two sixths and a seventh to move up here.
00:01:34 So getting into that fifth round,
00:01:36 unless you had traded down
00:01:38 from any of your fourth round picks
00:01:40 was kind of an impossibility.
00:01:41 So here they are, 180,
00:01:43 kind of the weird zone of like, I don't know,
00:01:46 let's throw some darts here.
00:01:47 We should point out,
00:01:50 they were successful here last year, picking late.
00:01:54 They got at least one clear keeper in Demario Douglas.
00:01:58 And who knows with Kehshaun Butte,
00:02:02 but somebody who, again,
00:02:04 this is where you get your troubled players,
00:02:06 your red flags, your fallers,
00:02:08 your weird physical freaks,
00:02:09 your lacrosse players and your wrestlers,
00:02:11 your guys who've been playing football for a year,
00:02:14 guys who are super fast but can't do anything else,
00:02:17 guys who aren't great and super fast,
00:02:19 but they have great lower level college production.
00:02:23 That's kind of where we are right now.
00:02:25 - And Tom Brady, don't forget Tom Brady.
00:02:26 - And Tom Brady.
00:02:27 We have satisfied our craving for offensive players.
00:02:30 That doesn't mean we don't want more.
00:02:32 So guys, I can put up your boards in a little bit
00:02:35 once we have these all together,
00:02:37 but just positionally here,
00:02:39 again, do you target a position for,
00:02:43 at spots in the draft where you're
00:02:46 likely not going to make a roster?
00:02:50 The percentages of sixth and seventh round picks
00:02:52 that stick are small-ish at this point,
00:02:56 with what's left.
00:02:58 - I think there's still some pretty quality players.
00:03:00 Yeah, there's some guys who I think
00:03:02 could at least be in the mix
00:03:04 on the roster next year at this range.
00:03:06 I think really when we get more towards
00:03:09 the end of the sixth is when that may start to tail off.
00:03:11 I was looking at tight end and there's only
00:03:13 two or three guys that I really like there.
00:03:15 Yeah, I think the seventh is,
00:03:18 this is one of those drafts where people are saying
00:03:20 the seventh are pretty much,
00:03:22 and this is sometimes the case,
00:03:23 but there'll be a bunch of undrafted free agents
00:03:24 at that point where, like you said,
00:03:26 you're taking, for the Patriots,
00:03:28 I'm projecting they're going to take
00:03:29 a really athletic corner,
00:03:31 who like Isaiah Bolden, Amir Speed,
00:03:34 fits that height, weight, speed kind of profile.
00:03:36 But yeah, I think there's still some quality guys left
00:03:38 where they should be picking.
00:03:39 - Except for in the draft,
00:03:42 Cadillac is rated like the eighth best quarterback
00:03:45 remaining at this point,
00:03:46 and that's kind of where you're at.
00:03:47 - Exactly.
00:03:48 Yeah, I mean, it's dark throws for sure,
00:03:50 but again, they hit oftentimes.
00:03:53 So it's not like, and not that they do this,
00:03:55 but it's not like you can just pack it in.
00:03:57 You still gotta read it out, see who calls.
00:03:59 This is where for the Patriots,
00:04:01 yes, you mentioned them satisfying their craving
00:04:05 for offensive talent.
00:04:06 They can go defense here if they want.
00:04:09 If they have a defender they really love,
00:04:10 I think, no, you don't think so, John?
00:04:13 - I'm just messing around.
00:04:15 I'm just messing around.
00:04:16 - I was gonna say, they can sort of take a swing here
00:04:20 and try and fill that out,
00:04:21 because look, they're gonna have to take a defender
00:04:22 at one point.
00:04:23 It's just, I find it very hard to believe
00:04:25 that they go eight picks all offense.
00:04:28 Again, crazier things have happened, but I think-
00:04:30 - The sins of the father.
00:04:31 - What's that?
00:04:33 - You're paying for the sins of the father here.
00:04:36 - Yeah, I know.
00:04:37 But this is where they can take that swing,
00:04:38 and I feel like Patriots fans won't be as upset
00:04:41 if they did it at, you know, call it pick 34.
00:04:43 - I don't think anyone is upset with anything at this point,
00:04:45 but are you for, like, it's more strategic here.
00:04:49 I think, you know, again, you always wanna see that,
00:04:52 well, you know, the high upside guy,
00:04:55 but also this is where you're getting your special teams,
00:04:58 you're plugging holes, and again,
00:05:00 players that might be able to stick in some capacity
00:05:03 or projects, big time projects at this point.
00:05:07 But do you wanna see a big swing, Taylor?
00:05:09 Or are you like, you know, just grab some bodies
00:05:11 and see if they can, you know, fill a backup role
00:05:14 or something like that?
00:05:15 Are you looking for your next DiMario here?
00:05:17 - I don't know if there's a ton of swings
00:05:18 they can take, really.
00:05:19 I can check again, but I do like,
00:05:22 like we'll go over the prospects,
00:05:23 but Taylor McLaughlin's one of my guys
00:05:25 who I think really could be a legitimate quality player
00:05:28 with starter upside who's still available.
00:05:30 I'm gonna go through the list right now
00:05:31 and see who's undrafted still on the board.
00:05:34 Jaheim Bell is someone I know a lot of people like.
00:05:36 I'm not a huge fan, to be honest.
00:05:38 Like people say he's a use check type.
00:05:40 One, use check is one of one.
00:05:42 I, you know, it's kind of like a Debo
00:05:44 where he's always the prototype, but it's like, yeah,
00:05:46 but no one is him.
00:05:47 Although his versatility is pretty interesting,
00:05:50 but yeah, I'm looking at the board
00:05:51 and I'm not really over the moon for a lot of the guys here.
00:05:54 So at this point, yeah,
00:05:56 maybe you get like a tight end in a running back.
00:05:58 Isaiah Davis just went off the board.
00:06:00 I'm interestingly, Jordan Travis is off the board
00:06:03 if they wanted to double dip a quarterback,
00:06:04 although I don't love his game either,
00:06:06 to be totally honest, but Dylan Laube is still there.
00:06:09 So if you want to swing,
00:06:11 yeah, he's probably the most exciting prospect, I think.
00:06:14 Him and Tanner McLaughlin for me on offense
00:06:16 are those more exciting kind of guys.
00:06:19 - McLaughlin's interesting because it's a notably weak
00:06:22 tight end class, right?
00:06:23 It's Brock Bowers and then pretty much everybody else.
00:06:26 You know, Jadavion Zanders a little bit, I guess,
00:06:28 is, you know, higher up on the board,
00:06:29 but it's really, you know, bunched together.
00:06:31 And I say that because obviously, you know,
00:06:33 Taylor, you refer to, we refer to a lot of, you know,
00:06:35 well-respected draft guys and, you know,
00:06:37 one of the best is Daniel Jeremiah
00:06:39 and he actually had Tanner McLaughlin
00:06:41 as his second tight end behind Brock Bowers.
00:06:43 So, I mean, take that for what it's worth.
00:06:46 I feel like that's an interesting little nugget.
00:06:47 Again, they're bunched up and it's a weaker class,
00:06:51 like I said, Browers and everybody else,
00:06:52 but for DJ to have McLaughlin as his number two,
00:06:56 I think it's pretty noteworthy
00:06:57 for him still being on the board.
00:06:59 - I think also it's pretty noteworthy
00:07:01 that the Patriots were able to get something
00:07:02 for Nikhil Hari as I'm seeing a pick 231, you know?
00:07:06 So there's some value there.
00:07:08 The Nikhil, isn't that so sad?
00:07:10 Look at that.
00:07:11 Mac Jones, first round pick, first round pick.
00:07:14 It's just the saddest thing on that full screen right there.
00:07:18 It's like, they got a sixth round pick
00:07:20 for their franchise quarterback they took three years ago
00:07:23 and a seventh rounder for their number one receiver
00:07:26 they took, you know, a couple of years prior.
00:07:27 It's just like, oh man.
00:07:29 - First round picks.
00:07:31 If you want a guy who they take a swing on,
00:07:33 who's exciting, Quintez Stiggers is a guy
00:07:36 who I know they had in for a visit.
00:07:38 I think he played in the CFL or something.
00:07:40 - CFL, yep, CFL.
00:07:42 - He's got a really interesting profile.
00:07:43 I tried to look at like highlights or tape.
00:07:45 I couldn't find any.
00:07:46 The only highlights I could find were basically punts
00:07:50 that he picked off.
00:07:51 It was pretty funny, but he does have the kind of size
00:07:54 and explosiveness that they like.
00:07:56 So if you want to swing in a guy who may be a little out
00:07:58 of left field, I think he kind of fits that profile.
00:08:01 Again, interesting height, weight, speed
00:08:03 kind of a situation there.
00:08:04 - Yeah, no doubt about that.
00:08:07 And as we said, we'll go through your list here
00:08:09 in a little bit as we get a little bit closer.
00:08:10 We're 175 and we'll throw out some names
00:08:13 and some positions that they might attack here shortly.
00:08:17 But in the meantime, I wanted to ask you guys and hold on.
00:08:20 Did we, we did not get the chat.
00:08:22 We didn't, we saw Walker's Instagram,
00:08:26 IG post, right?
00:08:29 I mean, Baker, Baker, Baker, not, sorry.
00:08:31 Baker's Instagram post, which again, confidence,
00:08:35 interesting, you know, dude.
00:08:38 And definitely he's got a lot of swag,
00:08:40 but then he met with the media
00:08:42 and he was just dropping gems left and right.
00:08:46 And again, you talk about swagger and, you know,
00:08:48 for those who didn't see the IG post, he's,
00:08:51 you all messed up.
00:08:52 Every one of you messed up.
00:08:56 You know, you're going to pay for it.
00:08:57 You couldn't, you should have drafted me.
00:08:58 I waited too long.
00:08:59 I waited too long.
00:09:00 So he's got that swag.
00:09:02 And then he went out with the media.
00:09:03 And again, this guy certainly has a pretty healthy opinion
00:09:06 of himself.
00:09:08 - What do you tell the Boston Patriots fans about your game?
00:09:11 - Oh, just, just, just come to the home stadium
00:09:15 and bring out popcorn.
00:09:16 That's all I can tell y'all.
00:09:17 Bring your popcorn.
00:09:21 I made, I made people in wheelchairs stand up.
00:09:23 Bring your popcorn.
00:09:26 - That was awesome.
00:09:28 - I love that.
00:09:29 - As soon as he said the first quote,
00:09:32 he had that first quote and I was just like, all right,
00:09:36 my fingers are on the keyboard.
00:09:38 I'm typing every word.
00:09:39 - So good.
00:09:44 So again, you love that.
00:09:45 I mean, you love it when it works, right?
00:09:47 When it doesn't, it's like, ah, but I mean, that's, it's,
00:09:52 what position in sports do you need a little bit of swag
00:09:55 more in, I'm talking in all the sports than receiver.
00:09:58 Corners too, because they got to,
00:10:00 they got to go up against these guys.
00:10:02 It's, it's just you and you're on these islands
00:10:05 and you just got to go and you got to do it.
00:10:07 Receiver's like, I'm the guy that's going to make
00:10:10 this thing happen.
00:10:11 Give me the ball.
00:10:13 And you do have an, again,
00:10:14 I know people are going to be looking at 40 times.
00:10:16 You do have two guys that when the ball's in the air,
00:10:20 want the ball more than anything else,
00:10:23 more than anybody on the planet wants anything.
00:10:26 And that's kind of what you got here
00:10:28 with, with, with these two receivers.
00:10:30 And again, we talked about it at the end,
00:10:32 as we break down how you got to this point,
00:10:36 you traded from 34 to 37 and ended up with Jalen Polk.
00:10:40 And it's J-Von, not J-Von,
00:10:43 the way he wants it pronounced, we've been told.
00:10:45 J-Von Baker here with this receiver hall.
00:10:49 And again, you got a little bit of attitude.
00:10:51 You got a little bit of grit.
00:10:52 You got some guys who want to get up and go after it.
00:10:54 And it's just like you said,
00:10:55 it's just listen to him talk right away.
00:10:57 You're like, this is going to be fun to cover, right?
00:10:59 - And you talk about these guys like down field.
00:11:03 I think Greg, I posted,
00:11:04 they both had perfect grades on deep targets,
00:11:08 which Drake May, I said, bombs a May,
00:11:10 because that's his game.
00:11:12 He likes to go deep down field.
00:11:13 And these are guys who can win that way.
00:11:15 And also Jim Nagy for the senior bowl said,
00:11:18 I'll pull up the exact quote that he used,
00:11:20 but he basically called out that he was,
00:11:22 I think the fifth fastest player they tracked
00:11:24 or something like that.
00:11:25 And like, was basically trying to get the point across
00:11:27 that even though J-Von Baker didn't run the 40 very well,
00:11:30 like we said, he's a fast dude.
00:11:32 It's a little bit more buildup speed.
00:11:34 He's not like he'll blow past you immediately,
00:11:36 but he's fast and has enough to win vertically
00:11:39 and be that threat after the catch.
00:11:41 Yeah, also just personality, man.
00:11:43 He's fascinating.
00:11:44 - Yeah, he's going to be exciting.
00:11:45 I mean, it's what you need.
00:11:47 We talked about a billion times, I feel like,
00:11:50 on these streams, which, you know,
00:11:52 John, if we're still keeping track,
00:11:53 I think this is number seven.
00:11:55 - Yeah.
00:11:56 - We, you're talking about, you know, character guys
00:11:58 and guys who are just good fits in the room.
00:12:03 This one's a little different,
00:12:05 but it's not in a negative way.
00:12:06 It's just in a confident way,
00:12:08 in a alpha male, number one, true X wide receiver way.
00:12:12 And I can't wait, I can't wait to cover him.
00:12:14 And in the chat, someone just said, "Stiggers is gone."
00:12:19 Quantez Stiggers just went.
00:12:20 I'm kind of surprised.
00:12:21 I feel like, you know,
00:12:23 Patriot could have got him later on.
00:12:24 He, you know, there was thoughts
00:12:25 that he might even end up going undrafted,
00:12:27 but I liked his game a lot.
00:12:29 They need help at cornerback too, so.
00:12:31 - Yeah.
00:12:32 - Let's go, Miles Martin.
00:12:34 - We're getting close.
00:12:35 176, Jets up.
00:12:36 Where did he go?
00:12:38 - Jets.
00:12:39 - He went to the Jets.
00:12:40 - That just happened, Jets.
00:12:41 So we are now at 177.
00:12:42 Patriots are at 180, coming up in just a little bit.
00:12:47 180, their last two picks, as we had said here,
00:12:50 103 and 110 were made hours ago.
00:12:54 The good thing about the gap
00:12:56 is Ahmet got four minutes of sleep, which was great.
00:13:00 - Yeah, seriously.
00:13:01 - You know, in between doing everything else
00:13:03 that he had to do, so that was pretty good.
00:13:05 But again, as we said, you know,
00:13:07 a big, big gap here between rounds four and round six here,
00:13:12 coming up at 180, and then you have that Mac Jones pick
00:13:16 that is also going to come into play here later.
00:13:18 We are gonna hang through pick 193
00:13:21 and then probably give it a wrap.
00:13:23 These guys might be back something a little bit later,
00:13:25 but that's probably what we're gonna do today
00:13:29 on the draft, and honestly,
00:13:32 it's possible we've already done too much.
00:13:33 But hey, you guys are still here and we're fun.
00:13:35 It's fun hanging out.
00:13:37 If you're here, we're here, right?
00:13:38 You know, there's no reason,
00:13:40 there's no reason to not be as well.
00:13:43 So final thoughts here on the earlier picks
00:13:45 before we move ahead, guys?
00:13:47 - According to plan.
00:13:50 - Yeah, sorry, you got it, buddy.
00:13:52 - No, according to plan, just quickly.
00:13:53 I mean, offense, offense, offense, offense, offense.
00:13:57 And that's, you know, that's what we needed.
00:13:58 They need to revamp that offensive,
00:14:01 you know, the players there.
00:14:02 So like, it's hard to be disappointed about it again,
00:14:06 because they have hit all three needs
00:14:09 at quarterback, offensive tackle, and wide receiver.
00:14:11 - Yeah, this was an older post from Jim Nagy
00:14:13 just talking about the speed versus the time speed
00:14:17 of a player, you know, like Baker.
00:14:20 Just talking about prior to Mobile,
00:14:25 biggest question was speed.
00:14:27 Fifth fastest overall player.
00:14:29 Only wide receiver faster was Tez Walker.
00:14:33 Equally impressive third best max deceleration.
00:14:36 So again, in and out of cuts, separation,
00:14:39 that's the kind of stuff that shows up on the field
00:14:41 maybe more so than from a three-point stance
00:14:44 running in a straight line.
00:14:45 Former four-star Alabama recruit,
00:14:48 and again, we've seen the argument.
00:14:49 If Baker had the same exact college tape,
00:14:51 but with an Alabama helmet,
00:14:53 he'd be getting earlier round buzz.
00:14:55 So again, another person coming out
00:14:57 with a lot of things to say about that,
00:14:59 Javon Baker Pickens, why you guys had him
00:15:02 high on your board to the point that you were
00:15:04 interested in him potentially even in the third round
00:15:08 as a prospect, and to get him in the fourth there,
00:15:11 I think certainly a lot of people
00:15:12 are pretty psyched about that.
00:15:13 We're gonna bring up Taylor Kyle's top targets here.
00:15:16 It's possible some of these, a couple of these are gone.
00:15:19 We had to build this list earlier,
00:15:22 but let's go through a couple here, Taylor.
00:15:25 - Yeah, so Tanner McLaughlin, I already touched on him.
00:15:27 I think he could be a well-rounded tight end.
00:15:29 Travis Glover's one of my dudes.
00:15:31 I loved him at the senior bowl.
00:15:32 I think he could be a good, versatile tackle
00:15:34 with some starting potential,
00:15:35 at the very least a spot starter.
00:15:37 Gabriel Murphy's an interesting one.
00:15:39 He was the guy who played across from LA to Lotu.
00:15:42 He's a good pass rusher.
00:15:43 He had some lane discipline issues from what I saw,
00:15:45 but he's got an intriguing skillset,
00:15:47 can play inside and outside.
00:15:49 Christian Boyd's a guy that I believe
00:15:50 they hosted for a 30 visit,
00:15:52 kind of in the mold of that undersized explosive,
00:15:54 kind of short armed interior defensive lineman.
00:15:56 They've had a lot of interest in, in the pre-draft process.
00:15:59 And then Dylan Loughby,
00:16:00 like I think he overlaps with Antonio Gibson,
00:16:02 but he's such a fun player.
00:16:04 He was cool to talk to at the conference.
00:16:06 - Breaking news, Luke Cornett is available tonight.
00:16:10 Sorry, I had to get it out there.
00:16:12 - So that's how it feels when I do that.
00:16:14 - Exactly. - Yeah, seriously.
00:16:17 - I did the Taylor.
00:16:20 - Yup, and the Taylor's like, "What, what, what?"
00:16:23 And it's about the Celtics center.
00:16:25 - It's your third center.
00:16:28 He's available.
00:16:29 Luke Cornett, anyway, go ahead, Taylor.
00:16:31 - Yeah, no, Dylan Loughby, local guy,
00:16:33 lot of fun like that.
00:16:35 He has a Danny Woodhead skillset.
00:16:37 He just does.
00:16:37 He like practiced route running
00:16:39 with Christian McCaffrey's brother, Luke,
00:16:41 who was drafted in the third round.
00:16:42 So yeah, he's another fun guy.
00:16:44 - Yeah, and let's bring up Mike's, Mike's big five here.
00:16:51 All right, baby, what do we got?
00:16:53 Mekhi Wingo, defensive tackle, LSU.
00:16:56 - I just pulled these out of a hat five minutes ago,
00:16:58 but let me try to remember what it is.
00:17:00 - Yeah, that's okay.
00:17:01 Mekhi Wingo, someone you can add to,
00:17:04 well, all right, most of them are legit.
00:17:07 The fifth one in Keaton Slovis, I'm gonna start with him.
00:17:10 It's not really a target for me, kinda is.
00:17:12 I mean, I'd be happy because I've loved Keaton Slovis
00:17:15 since his time at USC.
00:17:17 I bet Keaton Slovis to win the Heisman
00:17:19 back-to-back years in like 2020 and 2021.
00:17:22 He obviously didn't do that, but he was good at USC.
00:17:27 He went to Pitt, struggled, went to BYU,
00:17:29 struggled a bit more, still found his way
00:17:31 into the NFL draft, good question, Bobby.
00:17:35 According to Taylor, it's probably Cole Strange.
00:17:38 It's probably David Andrews, Jake Anderson,
00:17:40 and Cole Strange is the-
00:17:41 - We won't be third setting.
00:17:42 - Jaheim Bell, Jaheim Bell, Taylor mentioned
00:17:46 he's not a huge fan.
00:17:48 I don't necessarily disagree on the fact
00:17:49 that he's not a, what the heck's the guy's name?
00:17:54 Yuzchek, but they did show interest in him.
00:17:58 I believe they met with him at their pro day,
00:17:59 and I think they also had him up for a 30 visit.
00:18:01 So, Fit, I don't know, but at least somebody to watch
00:18:04 because there's been some breadcrumbs there.
00:18:07 And then Frank Crum is a left tackle prospect,
00:18:10 which I think they could potentially take a swing at
00:18:13 in the later rounds because you talk about Wallace
00:18:16 being that guy, but besides that,
00:18:18 they don't really have a actual left tackle
00:18:21 on the roster besides Conor McDermott, so.
00:18:23 - Yeah, yeah, so there we go.
00:18:25 There's some names, and honestly, you know what?
00:18:28 You know what the good part about this point in the draft?
00:18:31 You can't get mad anymore, right?
00:18:34 - Yeah.
00:18:35 - That's it, it's like, okay, let's see if that person
00:18:38 can do anything, but you can get a little excited.
00:18:40 You can say, oh, that's kind of cool.
00:18:42 Like, this is an interesting one.
00:18:43 So again, it's intrigue, it's upside,
00:18:46 it's who the hell knows, it's a bit of a dark throw.
00:18:49 And this is kind of fun.
00:18:51 This is house money.
00:18:52 You pluck someone here, and again,
00:18:54 the Patriots have had success both with late round picks
00:18:56 and undrafted free agents quite a bit over the years.
00:18:59 In fact, late round picks have saved a lot
00:19:01 of not so great drafts that maybe the top
00:19:04 had produced ordinary NFLers and were able
00:19:07 to get some really quality ones late.
00:19:09 Again, sixth round is very late for this sort of thing.
00:19:13 But was Douglas a sixth rounder last year?
00:19:16 I forget.
00:19:17 - Yeah. - DeMario?
00:19:18 - Yeah, both him and Booty were sixth rounders.
00:19:20 - Booty was sixth or seventh, I thought.
00:19:22 I couldn't remember.
00:19:23 - Booty was sixth rounder. - Booty went first.
00:19:25 - Oh, did he?
00:19:26 - Yeah, Booty went first.
00:19:28 - Oh, seventh week before, yeah, my bad.
00:19:30 - Yeah.
00:19:31 - Okay.
00:19:32 - Interesting one, Johnny Wilson is still on the board,
00:19:34 which I did not expect.
00:19:36 Like, everybody talks about--
00:19:37 - Wilson, yep.
00:19:38 - Everybody talks about Keon Coleman
00:19:40 as like a prototypical ex.
00:19:41 I disagree, I think he's more a guy
00:19:42 you gotta move around a little bit,
00:19:43 but can play ex.
00:19:44 Johnny Wilson was the ex at Florida State.
00:19:47 Now, his ball skills were a little up and down.
00:19:49 That was kind of a big issue for him,
00:19:51 but he's a rare athlete.
00:19:52 He's much more athletic than people give him credit for.
00:19:55 Everyone talks about him like he's a tight end.
00:19:57 He's not a tight end.
00:19:58 He's much more fluid than a tight end.
00:20:00 Was one of the most productive, isolated receivers
00:20:03 in college football last season.
00:20:05 So I don't think the Patriots
00:20:06 are gonna take three receivers,
00:20:07 but if he keeps falling and they have a pick,
00:20:10 I wouldn't be shocked to see him go,
00:20:12 'cause he's a talented player.
00:20:14 - Yep, no doubt about it.
00:20:17 Where are we now?
00:20:18 We're close, 179 Seattle, and the Seattle pick is in.
00:20:21 This is gonna pop on Twitter any second.
00:20:23 - Yeah.
00:20:26 So the Patriots are on the clock.
00:20:29 - On the clock.
00:20:31 Here we go, Patriots on the clock, pick 180.
00:20:34 So we've got something to talk about in a little bit.
00:20:35 And again, pardon us if we have to Google,
00:20:38 because we might have to.
00:20:39 We have no idea where this name's coming from right now.
00:20:42 - Yep.
00:20:42 - Yeah.
00:20:45 Let's see.
00:20:47 Go ahead, guys.
00:20:48 Give it to me. - Refresh, refresh.
00:20:50 - Give it to me, Chad.
00:20:51 Who do you want?
00:20:53 Taylor, should Taylor just--
00:20:55 - I would-- - Taylor, just say yes.
00:20:57 - Dave Murphy, those are my guys.
00:21:00 - Okay, is McLaughlin still there?
00:21:02 - Think so, yeah, he's still--
00:21:04 - Okay.
00:21:06 - I think they're gonna go defense.
00:21:09 - I think so too.
00:21:10 - My guess.
00:21:11 Chad, do we want defense or do we want all offense?
00:21:21 DB?
00:21:26 - Marcellus Dial, so they get a cornerback.
00:21:28 Let's see. - Oh, it happened?
00:21:33 - Yep, they got Marcellus Dial.
00:21:35 Cornerback, all right.
00:21:37 So let's look him up real quick.
00:21:38 He's another guy.
00:21:39 I didn't study a whole lot of defenders.
00:21:40 I'm only really corners they had in for visits.
00:21:42 I don't think they had him in for a visit.
00:21:44 But another area position to need,
00:21:46 so let me look him up real quick.
00:21:47 All right, so according to Dane Brugler,
00:22:04 looking at his scouting report,
00:22:06 a three-year starter at South Carolina,
00:22:08 Dial played outside corner
00:22:09 and defensive coordinator Clayton White's
00:22:11 multiple coverage scheme.
00:22:13 Once he arrived in Columbia,
00:22:14 he was one of the most productive defensive backs
00:22:15 in the SEC with a combined 25 passes
00:22:18 he's been in over the last two seasons.
00:22:20 Dial is a good-sized athlete
00:22:21 with the length and speed desired at the position,
00:22:24 but his lack of fluidity hurts his ability
00:22:26 to stay connected and impress man.
00:22:27 Though he can click and close with a head of steam,
00:22:29 his instincts are spotty,
00:22:31 and finishing skills as a tackler need to be addressed.
00:22:34 Overall, Dial has the ball skills and burst
00:22:36 that give him a chance to earn an NFL role,
00:22:38 but his undisciplined spacing and coverage
00:22:39 must improve to match up with NFL receivers.
00:22:42 He could be an option for zone scheme,
00:22:44 so that's pretty interesting.
00:22:46 - Okay, so again, this could be in the special teams
00:22:49 sort of mold here.
00:22:51 You know, this is a bottom of the roster sort of thought.
00:22:56 But again, a couple pop-off-the-chart
00:22:59 sort of measurables for this player.
00:23:01 Again, a 4-4-6 speed, a 40-inch vertical leap here.
00:23:06 So again, bringing some athleticism here as well.
00:23:10 You know, supposedly a man-coverage cornerback,
00:23:13 but he has some of the physical tools
00:23:17 that you would need there.
00:23:17 But as you said, Taylor,
00:23:20 lacks a little bit of refinement here.
00:23:22 I don't know if this is a person
00:23:23 who might be able to stick in the backfield
00:23:25 or strictly special teams,
00:23:26 but again, this is what you get with your sixth-round pick.
00:23:29 - Anybody have this guy remotely on your radar?
00:23:32 - No.
00:23:33 - Oh, not really, no.
00:23:34 I really only looked at the corners
00:23:35 that they had in for business,
00:23:36 'cause I wasn't locked in on offense.
00:23:39 - But Mike Reese, I just gotta say,
00:23:42 that dude is too good at this.
00:23:44 Before they were even on the clock,
00:23:47 Mike Reese put four phone emojis and writes,
00:23:51 "Time to dial up some D."
00:23:53 And I'm thinking, oh, okay, they're gonna go defense.
00:23:56 You know, not only are they going defense,
00:23:59 they drafted a defender with the last name Dial.
00:24:01 Mike was that dialed in that he knew the pick
00:24:04 like three things before.
00:24:05 That's just, it's clever.
00:24:07 He's, that's why he's the best.
00:24:09 - So ESPN guys aren't allowed to tip picks.
00:24:12 - Right, yeah, but they can do that.
00:24:14 - Because, you know--
00:24:18 - We'll do it to you, to drop this guy.
00:24:19 - You gotta watch the product, yeah.
00:24:22 - Evan says he's a main corner,
00:24:25 so there's some disparity there.
00:24:27 - No, that's what, that's the profile that I had.
00:24:30 - Who wins, your line?
00:24:34 - Red was that as well.
00:24:36 - We are, interesting.
00:24:37 - That a man corner.
00:24:39 - Pre-snap recognition and instincts fall below the mark
00:24:44 and run support is below average.
00:24:45 - Sounds like a rotational corner
00:24:49 in obvious pass situations.
00:24:51 Mike Pellegrino, if you want a guy
00:24:53 to get better technique-wise,
00:24:54 you give him to Pellegrino, so I like it.
00:24:57 - He likes it.
00:24:58 Patriots have, it's 10 more picks until they go
00:25:01 and we'll see where we're at here,
00:25:02 but again, Marcellus dialed a pick, the first defense.
00:25:06 I'm curious if we know the last time
00:25:07 they waited this long to draft defense.
00:25:09 I would imagine the answer is never.
00:25:12 - Yeah, seriously.
00:25:14 - I'm in the Belichick era.
00:25:15 - I would imagine this is never here.
00:25:19 And as we said, the Patriots taking this corner
00:25:23 still have Patriots in the lineup.
00:25:25 Still have pick 193.
00:25:27 We are at 182 right now.
00:25:31 And we've told you about as much
00:25:32 as we can possibly tell you about Marcellus Dial.
00:25:35 Some people in the chat here seem to know
00:25:39 and like some things about him.
00:25:41 So again, I'm not really sure what type of player
00:25:43 they got here and what we are fully expecting to do.
00:25:47 So one more pick here, 193.
00:25:50 They have gone defense.
00:25:51 I don't know.
00:25:54 I mean, a lot of the names you guys mentioned
00:25:55 are still there.
00:25:56 So there's still something there.
00:25:58 I want one more big Taylor reaction
00:26:01 out of this day before we're done.
00:26:02 I wanna see it pop one more time.
00:26:04 Yeah.
00:26:05 - You and me both, brother.
00:26:07 - I wanna see it.
00:26:08 And again, I'll throw it up again
00:26:12 just to see what we were looking at here.
00:26:14 Have we lost any of these people?
00:26:18 - No.
00:26:18 - I feel like running back.
00:26:22 I honestly, again, positionally speaking,
00:26:24 I feel like this is the spot for running back.
00:26:26 How many running backs have gone so far?
00:26:28 - Let's see.
00:26:32 Looking up now, prospects.
00:26:35 - I will say right now we have Brooks for sure.
00:26:46 Benson, Cor, three, four, five.
00:26:50 - Taylor Wright.
00:26:51 - Taylor Wright.
00:26:52 - SMA.
00:26:53 - 17 running backs have gone.
00:26:58 - 17 have gone?
00:26:59 - Even A. Bakke went to the Lions in the fourth round.
00:27:01 - How many running backs?
00:27:03 - 17, the way I can see.
00:27:05 Yeah.
00:27:05 - Have already gone?
00:27:07 - Yep.
00:27:08 - Launched.
00:27:09 - Yeah, Jonathan Brooks, Jalen Wright, Trey Benson,
00:27:11 Marshawn Lloyd, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Ray Davis,
00:27:14 Will Shipley, Blake Corham, Isaac Arendo,
00:27:17 Braylon Allen, Isaiah Davis, Audrick Estime,
00:27:20 Rashin Ali, Keelan Robinson, Bucky Irving,
00:27:23 Kimani Vidal, and Sione Bakke.
00:27:26 - And Tyrone Tracy Jr., I believe as well, was in there.
00:27:30 I don't know if he said that.
00:27:32 - He went yesterday.
00:27:35 Or yeah, yesterday.
00:27:37 - No, no, no, he went in the, I thought he went.
00:27:39 - Earlier this afternoon.
00:27:40 - He went in the fifth, he went today.
00:27:42 So.
00:27:43 - My bad, my bad, I missed off.
00:27:46 - So yeah, this is, and again,
00:27:47 just felt like a place where they were going to do that.
00:27:51 But again, need and the pressing, pressing need
00:27:55 for both receiver and offensive line trumped everything.
00:28:00 And again, now you're just kind of,
00:28:03 if it wasn't already clear, it's pretty clear.
00:28:08 They had to fix a couple of things,
00:28:10 or at least take a first swing and put some spackle
00:28:14 on some of the gaping holes on their roster right now.
00:28:19 And again, that's what they did.
00:28:20 And we are fully into, as we said,
00:28:23 gravy sort of mode right here.
00:28:25 There's a lot to like athletically with the pick here.
00:28:33 And they did that last year, right?
00:28:35 I mean, you got a couple of guys who could burn,
00:28:37 even though mainly special teamers.
00:28:40 - Kyle had explosive grades and great speed grades
00:28:44 by relative athletic score.
00:28:46 His agility grades were just poor
00:28:47 and he's light for the position.
00:28:49 - Yeah.
00:28:51 Yeah, he's light.
00:28:53 5'11, 190, definitely has enough speed to play outside.
00:29:00 As you said, quickness not great,
00:29:02 but the explosive metrics with the leaping
00:29:04 and everything like that, he can get up after it.
00:29:08 So we'll see here.
00:29:10 (sniffles)
00:29:12 With what's going on.
00:29:13 - Evan tweeted, "Heard some good things about Dyle's week
00:29:18 "at the Shrine Bowl this year.
00:29:20 "He has also played some safety and slot,
00:29:22 "feels similar to Amir Speed and Isaiah Bolden last year."
00:29:25 - That's, yeah, that's what we were saying earlier,
00:29:27 is someone who can run special teams,
00:29:31 sort of situation could seem to come into play.
00:29:34 And if you're able to put any sort of depth
00:29:37 in that defensive backfield, that's fine.
00:29:39 That's fine as well.
00:29:41 All right, guys, what do you got?
00:29:44 - So we're at 184, so we're coming down to it.
00:29:46 - We're coming down to it.
00:29:51 - Where's Tanner?
00:29:53 Is he still there?
00:29:53 Maybe they'll, someone like Christian Good or something,
00:29:56 maybe they just stick to defense here,
00:29:58 but I would like to see them get a tight end.
00:30:00 - Tight end would be good.
00:30:03 Someone along the defensive line could also be good.
00:30:08 - Outside of what they've done already,
00:30:09 I did wanna ask this question,
00:30:11 because this has been kind of interesting to me,
00:30:13 and I'm not saying anything bad happened here,
00:30:17 but it is particularly interesting
00:30:20 when you see a situation like the Eagles
00:30:22 and how their draft goes down.
00:30:24 And Roseman is very much considered
00:30:26 one of the best in the business when it comes to that.
00:30:28 There's a couple of facets to drafting, right?
00:30:30 There's having the personnel people
00:30:32 and/or the conviction in your decisions
00:30:35 to be able to pick the right types of players that you need,
00:30:39 deciding what you need and when,
00:30:42 always having to look ahead.
00:30:43 Like I can't have no receivers
00:30:45 under contract four years from now,
00:30:47 and you wanna be able to spread and space things out.
00:30:49 It's something that you have to consider as well.
00:30:51 Patriots didn't do a great job at that recently.
00:30:53 They had a lot of clusters of positions
00:30:55 all coming up at the same time.
00:30:57 This year, tight end, for example, was one.
00:31:00 When you see that happen, it's never necessarily great.
00:31:02 But the notion of when to wait for stuff to fall to you
00:31:07 and still get what you need,
00:31:09 and when to move and to move around.
00:31:11 You look at what Philly did, for example.
00:31:13 You wait and you get arguably the top two corners
00:31:16 in the draft at 22 and 40.
00:31:18 That's insane to me that they did that,
00:31:21 and they were both positional needs.
00:31:22 And everyone's like, "Wow, how lucky are they?
00:31:25 "Last year, they had the best defense."
00:31:27 They keep having these elite defensive players
00:31:30 fall to them, and they're like,
00:31:32 "How are they doing this?
00:31:33 "How do they keep doing this?"
00:31:34 It's not luck, it's skill.
00:31:36 So while you might have someone like Elliot Wolfe,
00:31:38 and again, I'm not saying this as a knock,
00:31:40 but it is interesting.
00:31:41 If Wolfe is running this room, he's a scout,
00:31:45 a head scout here.
00:31:47 There's no question in terms of you would believe
00:31:49 in the ability to evaluate talent.
00:31:51 But I wonder how different you guys think it is
00:31:53 when it's actually your job to go in there
00:31:55 and run the draft.
00:31:57 And you're in there, and all of a sudden, you're like,
00:31:58 "Ooh, this is harder than I thought."
00:32:00 I hearken back to Don Sweeney in his first year
00:32:03 with the Bruins, and they had three first picks,
00:32:05 and they were three first-round picks,
00:32:07 and that was the dreaded Zach Senechen,
00:32:10 DeBrusk, and Zaboral draft,
00:32:12 where everyone assumed, "Oh, they're gonna move up.
00:32:14 "They're gonna try to get Hannifin."
00:32:15 And nobody answered their phone, nobody did anything,
00:32:18 and all of a sudden, it got to Sweeney.
00:32:19 - And then you just gotta freaking pick, yeah.
00:32:21 - You gotta pick these guys, holy crap!
00:32:23 I'm not saying this is happening here,
00:32:24 but I think being in your first draft,
00:32:26 there's something to be said for draft experience
00:32:29 and being able to run it.
00:32:31 - You mentioned being a scout versus,
00:32:35 Taylor, what's the face for?
00:32:37 - ESPN had Marcello's dial labeled as a safety.
00:32:42 - Oh, interesting, okay.
00:32:45 - Pretty interesting, yeah.
00:32:46 - Listen, Evan pointed that out in his thing,
00:32:48 played some safety, some outside.
00:32:50 He can profile as a safety,
00:32:53 so maybe that's what they're picking him as.
00:32:56 - Yeah, I look at the clear snaps.
00:32:57 He's played much more corner than safety,
00:33:00 but to see him put there--
00:33:01 - Well, maybe X is a free safety here at the next level.
00:33:04 That might be how they're looking at it.
00:33:05 You see that all the time.
00:33:06 - Oh, I like that, okay.
00:33:07 - That guy played tackle all his life
00:33:08 and they'd list him as a guard when they drafted.
00:33:10 But anyway, Mike, you were saying?
00:33:11 - No, just as far as being a scout
00:33:12 versus actually running the show, right?
00:33:14 Like, you know, Wolf has prepared for these drafts,
00:33:19 taking in all of his intel, scouting these guys,
00:33:22 and then saying to the man in charge,
00:33:24 this is the person I like, this is what I would do here,
00:33:27 you make the decision.
00:33:28 - And then they have to figure it out, yeah.
00:33:30 - Right, now he's the one who has to figure it out.
00:33:32 He has to take the intel from the guys he trusts
00:33:34 and make the decision on not only what he knows
00:33:38 and what he sees, but also the opinions
00:33:39 of all the other guys.
00:33:40 So you're right, it's gotta be a whirlwind
00:33:42 to have to do that.
00:33:43 And then not only are you doing that,
00:33:45 but you're the point person making calls,
00:33:46 trading back, trading forward.
00:33:48 You're on the phone while also doing it.
00:33:49 Like, I'm surprised he, we asked him on Thursday night,
00:33:55 but like, you know, are you tired?
00:33:57 Are you exhausted?
00:33:57 Are you nervous?
00:33:58 He was just like, no, I'm ready to go.
00:33:59 So he seemed dialed in, but like you said, John,
00:34:01 it's definitely a different beast
00:34:04 when you're actually the one running the operation.
00:34:07 - I just wonder the challenges in there
00:34:09 and how tough and stressful it is.
00:34:10 And you don't really know until it happens, you know,
00:34:14 how to wheel and deal and how to make those moves.
00:34:16 You know, you saw that great clip that was posted
00:34:18 with Arizona's GM with the Houston trade down.
00:34:22 That was fun to watch, right?
00:34:23 And it's like, you know, not only do you have a good sense
00:34:27 of what it's gonna take to do,
00:34:28 to make this major potentially franchise altering move,
00:34:32 you also know how fast you have to talk just simply
00:34:35 to get off the phone, to assess it,
00:34:37 to get to your people, to talk about it,
00:34:38 to call somebody else back, the pace of it all.
00:34:41 It's really nuts if you're moving
00:34:43 and you're trying to do a lot of things,
00:34:45 you have to have so many things in mind.
00:34:47 And I was so impressed by that 'cause you could see it.
00:34:50 It's like, they usually send the clips out
00:34:52 of everybody kind of sitting back after they've decided
00:34:55 and they make it and then they high five.
00:34:57 But to watch like, are we doing this?
00:34:59 Are we doing this?
00:34:59 Are we doing this?
00:35:00 Are we doing this?
00:35:01 Like, it's kind of interesting and stressful.
00:35:02 And I could see why in year one,
00:35:05 only one trade is what happened here.
00:35:09 They might've gone in here with the idea
00:35:11 that like, let's trade a bunch, let's amass some picks.
00:35:14 Let's do what Bill does.
00:35:16 Let's pop around.
00:35:17 Like how many balance check drafts?
00:35:19 Like Bill does it all the time.
00:35:20 He's just like trade, trade, trade, trade, trade.
00:35:22 And it's like, then you get down to it.
00:35:24 You're like, it's probably easier to say no.
00:35:28 - Right. - You don't know.
00:35:28 - Jonathan's video was me where he's just like,
00:35:31 he's just so excited, just fricking happy to be there.
00:35:34 I was like, if anyone ever let me into a war room,
00:35:36 that's exactly what I would act like.
00:35:39 - Like who?
00:35:40 - Like Jonathan Gannon, the head coach.
00:35:42 - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:35:43 - He was just excited and just fricking juiced up.
00:35:45 - He's like, what's going on here?
00:35:46 This is amazing.
00:35:47 - He's like, that's awesome, yeah.
00:35:50 - Look at this guy go.
00:35:50 He's doing the thing.
00:35:52 - There's a run on receivers right now, by the way.
00:35:54 The Dolphins got Malik Washington,
00:35:56 who was a Shrine Ball standout.
00:35:58 Basically Mario Douglas,
00:36:00 except like I think a little more physical.
00:36:01 Johnny Wilson went to the Eagles.
00:36:03 Really good, honestly, kind of like a Jordan Matthews
00:36:06 now that I think about it.
00:36:07 That's kind of funny.
00:36:08 And Casey Washington went to the Falcons.
00:36:10 You know, not a huge one,
00:36:11 but that's three receivers in the last four picks.
00:36:14 But actually five,
00:36:15 'cause Jaquan Jackson went to the Titans as well.
00:36:17 So I don't think the Patriots are gonna get another receiver
00:36:19 or just kind of interesting receivers on the board.
00:36:20 - One of our chatters here
00:36:23 seems to have some intimate knowledge of dial.
00:36:25 Tremendous value zone awareness for days.
00:36:28 Didn't see the football thrown in his direction much.
00:36:31 Outstanding ball skills when it does arrive.
00:36:33 Doesn't miss any tackles either.
00:36:35 Hey, I'll trust that.
00:36:36 I'll trust that analysis.
00:36:37 - I'm gonna get to see these guys tape.
00:36:38 I'm so excited.
00:36:39 Like I'm gonna do,
00:36:40 so after this week, like once everything settles down,
00:36:43 I'm gonna start doing like deep profile dives
00:36:45 so I can really get into the film.
00:36:47 And like Javon Baker, Jalen Polk,
00:36:49 and now Marcellus Dial, man, I'm pumped.
00:36:53 I'm not great at offensive line,
00:36:54 so I'm not as excited.
00:36:55 Although if you, you know,
00:36:56 offensive line play is still exciting.
00:36:58 But those are my positions,
00:36:59 like defensive back and receivers.
00:37:01 So it's gonna be a good time.
00:37:04 - So last draft must've been fun with the O-line stuff.
00:37:06 I remember saying afterwards,
00:37:07 like do a video on the guards.
00:37:09 And you're like,
00:37:10 what am I gonna say about these guards?
00:37:12 You know, like they're guards, man.
00:37:15 You know, like.
00:37:16 - Right, they guard.
00:37:18 - They guard.
00:37:19 - Tried to put some good stuff about Moffey,
00:37:21 and I was just like,
00:37:22 he's physical, but like other than that,
00:37:24 I'm like, I'm leaving a lot of stuff out
00:37:25 'cause he is some red flags.
00:37:27 But Patriots are one, two, three, four, five picks away.
00:37:32 - Yep, we're getting close.
00:37:33 - Back, maybe a trade up?
00:37:35 - Who knows?
00:37:39 And you said there's just a receiver.
00:37:41 - Hmm?
00:37:41 - What do we think of Dillard's lobby here?
00:37:44 - I still would rather McLaughlin,
00:37:46 because it's a bigger position in need.
00:37:47 But if they take Lowey, period, I'm happy.
00:37:49 I thought he was awesome.
00:37:52 And I think they also had an informal meeting with him, so.
00:37:54 - Yeah, that would have been cool.
00:37:55 - But McLaughlin had a good flow there.
00:37:56 - That would have been cool.
00:37:57 - Yeah, that too, yeah.
00:37:58 (humming)
00:38:03 - It's a sneak peek.
00:38:06 - Oh, we forgot to check out, what's his name?
00:38:10 Dial is on Zoom, but I'm gonna skip it,
00:38:14 because we're coming up soon.
00:38:16 And yeah, catch it after the fact.
00:38:20 Okay, that makes sense.
00:38:21 Yeah, we're gonna get you guys through 193.
00:38:23 And then these guys, like I said,
00:38:24 are probably gonna scoot for a little bit.
00:38:26 Might be some stuff coming up afterwards for you guys,
00:38:29 for us to wrap it up here.
00:38:31 But other than that, like I said,
00:38:34 we're gonna hang till about 188.
00:38:38 When, here we are, 188.
00:38:39 We're gonna hang till a little bit after 193,
00:38:41 see who the Patriots grab,
00:38:42 see if it's someone we have some familiarity with,
00:38:45 and talk about that as well, and then move it on.
00:38:48 But I mean, fun weekend, interesting weekend.
00:38:51 And again, I know there's a little bit
00:38:53 of deflating kind of moments with some of the things,
00:38:56 because some things felt reachy,
00:38:58 and maybe people had other things on their mind.
00:39:01 But the prove you wrong sort of thing
00:39:05 is kind of interesting.
00:39:06 And we don't have Dial on here yet,
00:39:09 but Dial goes at around 6, 180.
00:39:12 And then going back on here,
00:39:14 which pick would you say you've changed your mind
00:39:16 the most about, given the benefit of a little bit of time?
00:39:21 May, you were all in on, nobody has to think about it.
00:39:23 But Polk is someone you didn't have on your,
00:39:26 I would say the next three picks,
00:39:28 nobody really had on their radar in that range,
00:39:31 or period, honestly.
00:39:32 Whereas Baker, you had.
00:39:34 Who have you come around on the most,
00:39:36 just thinking about it, reading about it,
00:39:38 looking at any film or tape?
00:39:39 Mike?
00:39:40 - Caden Wallace, all day.
00:39:43 I know Taylor, you have the same answer,
00:39:44 so sorry I had to go first.
00:39:46 But it's Caden Wallace.
00:39:48 I mean, look, 'cause look, John,
00:39:49 you mentioned not having Polk on the radar.
00:39:52 I didn't have him on the radar that early,
00:39:53 but I was talked into, you know,
00:39:55 you know what, switch it up.
00:39:57 I'll give Taylor Caden Wallace.
00:39:59 I've turned on Jalen Polk even more
00:40:01 at pick 34 over the last day,
00:40:03 because at the time it felt like a little bit of a reach,
00:40:08 just 'cause A.D. Mitchell was there,
00:40:11 and we both projected Polk as more of a third round guy.
00:40:14 But hearing around the league that, you know,
00:40:16 he could have been a first rounder.
00:40:18 Peter Schrager loved him.
00:40:21 You know, it's just, it makes,
00:40:24 not only did they--
00:40:27 - Evan Lazar loved him.
00:40:28 He had him as 24 overall, I think.
00:40:30 - Exactly, and so they could have had him at 34
00:40:32 like they wanted.
00:40:33 - He already loved him.
00:40:34 - They traded back to 37 and got him,
00:40:36 and then we're able to move up and get Javon Baker.
00:40:40 So that pick, that execution was phenomenal.
00:40:42 Sounds like Bobby Manning, phenomenal.
00:40:45 - Yeah, for me it was Caden Wallace,
00:40:48 just because I didn't,
00:40:49 I thought he was a right tackle in the process
00:40:51 and didn't really pay him a ton of mind because of that.
00:40:53 I was like, all right, you know,
00:40:54 I had some idea of what his skillset was,
00:40:57 but I was confused.
00:40:58 I was like, all right, maybe I need to do some more digging
00:41:00 because this doesn't make sense to me.
00:41:01 The left tackle thing, I was like, all right, I get it.
00:41:03 And I definitely warmed up to it.
00:41:05 Leighton Robinson would be my second one,
00:41:07 where it was only because I wanted them to get Javon Baker.
00:41:11 Really, that was the biggest thing.
00:41:12 I was like, yeah, I think you need another weapon.
00:41:13 If you miss out on Baker, I'm going to be pissed.
00:41:15 But after that happened, I was like, all right, yep, sweet.
00:41:18 You got two pass catchers
00:41:19 and two pass protectors and run blockers.
00:41:22 I'm cool with it.
00:41:23 - Yeah, we are 189, rounding the corner here to 190.
00:41:29 Patriots are at 193.
00:41:31 One more pick beyond that in the 227 range.
00:41:35 - Haven't heard from Ahmed in a while.
00:41:37 Should I send like, should I do like a,
00:41:39 send somebody to his house and knock on the door
00:41:43 and make sure he's okay?
00:41:44 - Check.
00:41:45 Also, so Andrew Callahan tweeted that Marcellus Dial
00:41:51 said the team was impressed by his football IQ.
00:41:54 Asked about his game.
00:41:54 Dial said he has good ball skills.
00:41:56 He can test pass as well.
00:41:57 And then he's a sticky corner in coverage.
00:41:59 Just his perspective.
00:42:00 Also interesting, they liked his football IQ.
00:42:05 That kind of makes you think
00:42:06 that they're probably gonna move him around.
00:42:08 - Mike also said it's an honor to be
00:42:12 the first offensive player on their draft board.
00:42:14 - Guys, carry this for one second.
00:42:17 I just gotta do one thing.
00:42:18 I'm popping.
00:42:19 - Mike, what do you think about MaKai Wingo
00:42:21 going to the Lions, which makes so much sense?
00:42:24 - Yeah, it makes a lot of sense.
00:42:25 That was my guy.
00:42:26 So now you gotta take him off the graphic on,
00:42:28 make it back in the lab.
00:42:29 No, I mean, look, the Patriots could use some help there.
00:42:33 I think Alex mentioned this morning on our show
00:42:36 that a lot of their defensive linemen
00:42:38 are heading into contract years or close to it.
00:42:40 Obviously, it seems more likely than not at this point
00:42:43 that maybe by next week,
00:42:45 even they could lock up Christian Barmore.
00:42:47 But I liked Wingo, a guy who also played with,
00:42:51 I'm sorry, I can't think of his name.
00:42:53 I'm way too, my brain's a puddle,
00:42:55 but there was a second LSU defensive tackle
00:42:58 that they played together on the defensive line.
00:43:00 - I know who you're talking about.
00:43:01 I can't remember either.
00:43:02 - They've worked well off each other.
00:43:03 So you wonder how they can translate
00:43:05 when they separate, obviously.
00:43:07 But Wingo goes, a lot of sense going to Detroit.
00:43:11 So yeah, I mean, what do we have?
00:43:14 Three more picks.
00:43:16 Billy, Billy L.
00:43:18 - Just traded another second consecutive pick
00:43:20 and that went to the Lions for Wingo.
00:43:22 - Oh, okay.
00:43:23 The Eagles have now executed nine trades in the draft.
00:43:26 - That's what I said.
00:43:28 - Howie's on his shit.
00:43:29 - It's just, it's a skill, man.
00:43:32 It's crazy.
00:43:33 Like anything you've ever done in life,
00:43:35 you think you got the skills,
00:43:37 you do it for the first time and you're like,
00:43:39 this is really hard.
00:43:40 So again, there's something to be said
00:43:42 for how challenging the actual live draft,
00:43:46 'cause the NFL draft is like nothing else.
00:43:48 It's not, I mean, baseball draft is crazy too,
00:43:50 because there's 7,500 rounds, but like,
00:43:53 you're legit, you're trying to stack.
00:43:56 You're looking into the future.
00:43:58 You're trying to figure out how things are gonna work,
00:44:01 salaries, blah, blah, blah.
00:44:03 And you're drafting people who are gonna be useful
00:44:07 to your organization all over the place.
00:44:09 And there's so many names in so many different positions.
00:44:13 You can go in a zillion different directions,
00:44:15 but you gotta have some conviction
00:44:17 and just say, I like this guy.
00:44:19 And again, it makes sense that that's why people,
00:44:22 why you would stick and pick.
00:44:26 Hold on one second.
00:44:29 Because moving around is stressful, yeah.
00:44:32 - I thought you wanted a little help.
00:44:34 Marcellus Dial said he met Kendrick Bourne
00:44:37 at a hibachi restaurant.
00:44:38 - No, no, no, it's all good.
00:44:41 I was trying to type a note while I was talking there.
00:44:46 Philly on the clock, as we said, at 190.
00:44:49 Anything else coming out of the Dial stuff
00:44:50 that you guys see in terms of his,
00:44:52 as we said, he's meeting the media right now?
00:44:54 - Not really, but I will say everybody who was on my list
00:44:57 is still on the board, so still hope for those guys.
00:45:01 - Yeah, we could throw it up one more time
00:45:03 and see top targets.
00:45:04 And again, positionally, I like running back
00:45:08 above all else here, 'cause I think it's actually something,
00:45:12 I think it's someone who could stick on the roster
00:45:15 as the position you draft them,
00:45:16 not strictly a special teamer or anything like that
00:45:19 at this point, so we'll see.
00:45:22 But again, as you said, 17 running backs went already.
00:45:27 That's quite a few, so anything at this point
00:45:29 is definitely a bit of a flyer.
00:45:31 Pick Night 191 coming up, Arizona.
00:45:34 Patriots are almost on the clock.
00:45:35 And see what we've got here.
00:45:40 I would like to thank Bobby Manning
00:45:42 for joining us from Miami.
00:45:44 He's out there, he's at the arena right now
00:45:47 watching this stream with the Celtics
00:45:50 and the Miami Heat playing tonight.
00:45:55 6 p.m. game, "Guard" report's gonna be live
00:45:58 right after that, Celtics versus Heat game three,
00:46:01 so make sure that you tune in there.
00:46:02 As we said, there's also a Bruins post-game show tonight
00:46:06 over on our Bruins YouTube channel, so check that out.
00:46:09 Bruins ringside, Cardinals pick is in,
00:46:13 which means we are now at 192.
00:46:15 Patriots are almost on the clock.
00:46:17 - I love this (audio cuts out) faster.
00:46:19 - It's great, right?
00:46:21 - So much better.
00:46:24 - It's great, and at this point,
00:46:26 it's kind of like what's so interesting is
00:46:28 the risk of your guy getting taken here is so much less,
00:46:31 which is why it's so easy
00:46:32 to just hand in a card quickly, right?
00:46:34 - Right, exactly, and usually, you've got your list,
00:46:38 and everybody's lists are so different.
00:46:40 I feel like it creates more opportunity for certain guys
00:46:42 and just get picked, and you got your backup plans.
00:46:45 - Yeah, yeah, and we have Wingo off the board,
00:46:49 but still plenty of Mike's guys still there.
00:46:52 - Yeah, so Wingo's gone.
00:46:54 Thanks for adding that.
00:46:55 I was joking, Amit, that you had to edit the thing.
00:46:58 John, when you were gone, we were talking that Wingo went,
00:47:01 and I go, "Amit, get back in the lab
00:47:02 "and go figure this thing out," but man, he does it.
00:47:05 I don't know how.
00:47:06 I don't know how Amit's still awake.
00:47:08 I don't know how he's still alive,
00:47:09 but Dylan Lelby is now the featured image on my graphic,
00:47:12 so that's my pick.
00:47:14 I like it here.
00:47:15 I want them to go get Dylan Lelby at 193.
00:47:18 Add to that running back room.
00:47:19 I know that tight end, like you said, Taylor,
00:47:20 is a little bit more of a need
00:47:22 just as far as contracts.
00:47:25 Gibson's on a one-year deal.
00:47:26 What, Taylor?
00:47:29 - Tayshaun Palmer went to the Cardinals.
00:47:31 - Oh, okay.
00:47:32 - I love him on the guy.
00:47:33 I like him a lot, man.
00:47:34 He's a freak athlete, like for real,
00:47:36 and he's gonna make a roster 'cause he blocks his ass off,
00:47:39 and he's gonna contribute on special teams.
00:47:40 I really like him.
00:47:41 - Yeah, so if Lelby's there, I like it,
00:47:44 but I understand going tight end instead
00:47:45 because Henry and Hooper on one-year deals,
00:47:49 and Stevenson's going into a contract here,
00:47:53 but Antonio Gibson on a three-year deal,
00:47:54 so a little bit more room to mess with the backs
00:47:56 where tight end is more of an immediate need,
00:47:58 so feel like they could likely go tight end at 190
00:48:01 if that's where they're looking,
00:48:02 but they did also sign, what are they?
00:48:04 They just signed someone else, Mitchell Wilcox.
00:48:06 I mean, that doesn't do much,
00:48:07 but it adds some depth to the position, I guess.
00:48:10 - Yeah. - So yeah.
00:48:14 Frank Crum, left tackle, and Keaton Slobis, my guy.
00:48:17 Wouldn't that be fun?
00:48:19 Who did the Seahawks take?
00:48:20 Patriots are on the clock.
00:48:23 - Nobody is updating anything anymore, so.
00:48:25 It's slow.
00:48:28 Patriots are on the clock?
00:48:31 - Yeah.
00:48:32 - Patriots are on the clock?
00:48:35 - Why is it moving? - Take 193.
00:48:37 - Let's see, let's see, let's see.
00:48:40 I can't believe Gabriel Murphy's still here.
00:48:47 That's kind of surprising.
00:48:49 Some other guys.
00:49:08 Frank Borgina, I think he's gonna go into seventh.
00:49:11 Christian Mahogany is still on the board?
00:49:13 That's interesting.
00:49:16 - Yeah, it is.
00:49:18 - Brendan Rice too, yikes.
00:49:19 - That's crazy.
00:49:21 - He's plummeting.
00:49:22 - What happened there?
00:49:24 - It didn't happen on my board.
00:49:26 Did I have him on my big board?
00:49:27 I might have.
00:49:28 I didn't love his game though, to be honest.
00:49:31 - No?
00:49:34 - He did like draw a lot of penalties.
00:49:35 More things you definitely like.
00:49:37 There were things that you could talk to yourself.
00:49:39 But I think it'll probably be a better,
00:49:43 oh, he wasn't on my list, but yeah.
00:49:44 He like barely made it.
00:49:44 I didn't really love him.
00:49:45 I still wanted to love with him as the process went on.
00:49:48 - Oh my God.
00:49:49 Joe Milton.
00:49:52 - Shut up.
00:49:54 - Is that who they took?
00:49:57 - Barstow's gonna lose it.
00:49:59 - What did I say?
00:50:02 They're taking a quarterback.
00:50:03 - Wow.
00:50:04 - Oh my God, I actually watched him too.
00:50:11 - That's awesome.
00:50:14 - Why is Barth gonna lose it?
00:50:15 - Wait, I'm gonna ask RG3 about the double dip.
00:50:18 I actually, I prepared for this.
00:50:20 - I said a double, again, I advocate for this.
00:50:25 I think you should always be looking late round quarterback
00:50:28 and see what's out there.
00:50:29 What is, why is Barth gonna lose it?
00:50:31 - He loves him.
00:50:32 He's his guy.
00:50:33 He's been telling Joe Milton all draft season.
00:50:36 - Yeah?
00:50:39 - Yeah, wow.
00:50:40 That's crazy.
00:50:44 - Oh my God, wow.
00:50:45 That's nuts.
00:50:46 - There it is.
00:50:50 Another quarterback competition for Drake May.
00:50:53 - Oh, let's see.
00:50:54 I think Bailey Zappi's a free agent next season too.
00:50:57 - Bailey Zappi's a free agent today.
00:51:00 Like, let's be honest.
00:51:02 Again, we have to, you know,
00:51:05 he got cut in favor of no one last year, you know?
00:51:10 So like you have to,
00:51:12 I mean, this is the point.
00:51:14 Joe Milton lives so Bailey Zappi doesn't have,
00:51:18 and again, no disrespect to Bailey Zappi.
00:51:20 He did everything that was asked of him.
00:51:21 But again, he's only there
00:51:23 because there was no other option at all.
00:51:26 No veteran backup.
00:51:27 And then Mac just puked all over himself.
00:51:29 And they brought seven guys in last year.
00:51:32 And they're like, if you're better than Zappi,
00:51:33 the job is yours and none of them could do it.
00:51:35 So.
00:51:36 - So, all right.
00:51:37 I don't like to say this,
00:51:39 but I think it's a good thing.
00:51:40 I don't like the Joe Milton pick.
00:51:43 - Okay, good.
00:51:44 Tell us why.
00:51:45 - Because he's not gonna make the team.
00:51:49 He's just not gonna make the team.
00:51:52 It's gonna be.
00:51:53 - Why would he make the team over Nathan Roark
00:51:56 or Bailey Zappi?
00:51:57 - Why wouldn't he?
00:51:58 - Why would he?
00:51:59 Like if you're of the-
00:52:00 - Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
00:52:02 - I mean, no, I'm saying he could be your QB three.
00:52:04 - Oh no, but I just think Zappi's a,
00:52:07 I don't know.
00:52:08 - No, I don't think-
00:52:09 I also think you could sneak him out of the practice squad
00:52:11 and if you lose him, like, oh, that's-
00:52:12 - Yeah, that's okay.
00:52:13 I'm okay with the practice squad,
00:52:14 but I just feel like, you know.
00:52:15 Sorry, I'm reading Rappaport's thing.
00:52:18 It just, I don't know.
00:52:19 I don't like it.
00:52:20 I feel like they could have just stuck with what they had.
00:52:23 Maybe even-
00:52:23 - I like it.
00:52:24 - Like it.
00:52:25 - I like it.
00:52:26 - It feels a little too cute.
00:52:27 And it feels like when you could get
00:52:29 that developmental tight end,
00:52:30 Tanner McLaughlin's still there.
00:52:31 When you can get Dylan Lobey, add him to the offense.
00:52:33 - Dylan Lobey's gotta get to the Bengals.
00:52:35 - What?
00:52:36 - He went to the Bengals, Tanner McLaughlin.
00:52:38 - Before us?
00:52:39 - After, right after the Joe Milton.
00:52:42 - See?
00:52:43 Like, that's tough, passing up on a tight end
00:52:46 that would make the roster,
00:52:48 instead of a guy who's not going to.
00:52:49 Now, obviously it's fun.
00:52:50 - Didn't I say you can't get angry at this point
00:52:54 in the draft and you guys are getting angry?
00:52:57 - I'm not angry.
00:52:58 I think it's logical.
00:52:59 They don't have any quarterbacks other than Matt Jones,
00:53:03 other than Drake Mayweather, 25.
00:53:03 - Man, Kobe.
00:53:04 - It makes perfect sense.
00:53:06 - There's chatter, Joe Milton may convert to tight end.
00:53:09 - I don't know.
00:53:10 He's a big dude.
00:53:13 He's a big dude.
00:53:14 - It was in the chat, someone said it.
00:53:16 - Someone just threw it in the chat.
00:53:17 He's a big dude, 6'5", 240.
00:53:20 He's a big dude.
00:53:21 - Let's see.
00:53:24 Now I gotta put a fifth string on my roster breakdown.
00:53:27 That's funny.
00:53:29 - I'm seeing tight end other places too.
00:53:37 - Really?
00:53:38 - Yeah, Benjamin Solak from the ringer.
00:53:40 Excellent draft for the Patriots.
00:53:44 Multiple pass catchers at wide receiver
00:53:46 and now a good developmental tight end in Joe Milton.
00:53:50 - I feel, is that sarcasm?
00:53:57 - I can't tell if it's sarcasm.
00:53:59 - Ben, it very well could be.
00:54:02 - I honestly think it's sarcasm.
00:54:05 It's just funny that after that chat,
00:54:07 never in a million years would I have expected him
00:54:12 to profile as a tight end at the next level.
00:54:16 This is a guy, he's huge, sure.
00:54:18 He's got a rocket arm.
00:54:20 I just don't think you know where it's going, right?
00:54:22 Like he's got a big arm.
00:54:25 - That's Dan Brugler.
00:54:26 Dan Brugler mentioned a tight end conversion in the beast.
00:54:29 - So people are not messing around here.
00:54:34 - That is super interesting.
00:54:36 - Wow, okay.
00:54:38 - So you got your tight end, Mike, so stop crying about it.
00:54:43 - Wait, I gotta, that's pretty nuts.
00:54:46 Wait, let me look this up.
00:54:48 I'm like processing, this is such an,
00:54:52 they got an exchange for Mack Jones,
00:54:53 a draft Joe Milton, that's funny.
00:54:55 - Oh yeah, that's the best story.
00:54:57 - I was gonna say, it's gonna be the most exciting
00:54:59 preseason in Patriots history.
00:55:00 (laughing)
00:55:02 - All right.
00:55:06 - Pretty funny.
00:55:07 Rapaport says Bailey Zappi likely available for trade.
00:55:11 Boy, line up and trade for Bailey Zappi, everyone,
00:55:14 instead of waiting for the Patriots to leave.
00:55:16 I mean, come on.
00:55:18 - I had a mock draft.
00:55:19 Did I have a mock draft where they took him?
00:55:20 I might've gone back on it.
00:55:23 I don't remember, let me see.
00:55:24 I know I was going to,
00:55:26 I think I might've swapped it out for somebody else,
00:55:28 but I feel like I did.
00:55:30 Let's see.
00:55:31 The Catholic moment is my favorite mini arc.
00:55:50 (laughing)
00:55:52 I don't know.
00:55:56 I don't know.
00:55:57 I don't know.
00:56:01 I mean, look, I don't like it,
00:56:04 but it doesn't really matter at 193.
00:56:07 - No, it doesn't.
00:56:07 That's what I said.
00:56:08 I was like, aren't we not supposed to be mad here?
00:56:10 - Right, right, right.
00:56:12 - I'm cool with it.
00:56:13 - Here's Barth.
00:56:17 - Yep.
00:56:17 - There's our guy.
00:56:21 Alex Barth of the Patriots Beat podcast on CLS Media,
00:56:24 most exciting player in the draft.
00:56:27 - Ugh.
00:56:28 - Good for me.
00:56:30 Good for Alex.
00:56:31 - If you're not going to draft a punter to make Alex happy,
00:56:36 at least get his guy here, you know?
00:56:38 You got to give the kid something.
00:56:43 So there it is.
00:56:44 All right, so that's what we got.
00:56:47 The Patriots have one more draft pick after this, round seven.
00:56:50 Again, this is at least fun and interesting.
00:56:53 And I am curious about this tight end conversion theory
00:56:58 and whether it's real.
00:57:02 As you put from a broogler, physical.
00:57:06 Did you just read this, Taylor?
00:57:08 - Yeah, I posted it.
00:57:10 - No, but did you read it on the air?
00:57:12 - No, no, I didn't.
00:57:14 - Overall, Milton has the physical tools
00:57:17 that scream first round pick,
00:57:19 passing instincts and ability to read the field
00:57:21 and then the ball.
00:57:22 And he's got a lot of that.
00:57:23 And I'm curious about this.
00:57:24 I mean, I know you're a big fan of him.
00:57:26 I know you're a big fan of him.
00:57:28 But I'm curious about this.
00:57:29 I mean, he's got a lot of that.
00:57:30 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:31 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:32 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:33 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:34 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:34 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:35 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:36 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:37 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:38 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:39 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:39 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:40 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:41 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:42 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:47 He's got a lot of that.
00:57:52 - Yeah, yeah.
00:57:53 - Was it with Malik?
00:57:55 - Yeah, he went to back up Lamar Jackson.
00:57:59 Everybody was happy for him.
00:58:00 And they were like, yeah,
00:58:01 go somewhere we'll actually use you.
00:58:02 - Yeah, that's right.
00:58:04 - So that happened.
00:58:06 But here again, it's more about the project.
00:58:10 And I guess we're definitely curious
00:58:12 to see what happens here.
00:58:14 I don't know that Wolf's gonna give it all away
00:58:16 and say, yeah, the tight end here.
00:58:18 But it is interesting to see whether,
00:58:21 you might bring him in and say,
00:58:24 let's see if you can play quarterback at all.
00:58:28 Maybe get him with some coaching
00:58:29 and see if you can fix some of those issues.
00:58:30 Because again, the raw physical talent is insane.
00:58:34 - And the Patriots do like to have,
00:58:37 and like a Malik Cunningham,
00:58:38 the Patriots like to have their athletic QB in camp
00:58:40 where you can like simulate certain things.
00:58:42 Like how they would have, what's his name?
00:58:44 Penn State, who was here last year?
00:58:50 - Trace McSorley.
00:58:51 - Trace McSorley.
00:58:52 Actually he was throwing at the combine.
00:58:54 We saw him on the field during the receivers.
00:58:56 But yeah, they use Trace McSorley.
00:58:58 They literally just put him on another field
00:59:00 and have him run like zone read and stuff like that.
00:59:03 So, I don't know how much they're gonna let
00:59:05 Milton actually throw, but at the very least,
00:59:07 he could be a camp body who simulates
00:59:09 those kinds of things for you.
00:59:11 And then, maybe they move him around
00:59:14 like they did with Cunningham.
00:59:15 So it's at the very least interesting.
00:59:17 This is a very fascinating draft for the Patriots.
00:59:20 And I don't really dislike any of the picks.
00:59:22 - There you go.
00:59:23 So again, we're gonna let Taylor and Mike go to work
00:59:27 and go in there.
00:59:29 I know it's a big, big room in here, guys.
00:59:31 I think we've gone as far as we can go
00:59:33 with a lot of this stuff.
00:59:34 We made you through all the way, pick six.
00:59:37 And again, Patriots, and Ahmed,
00:59:41 I don't know if we have the full big board updated,
00:59:43 but I'll put up what we have up until here.
00:59:47 Drake May, quarterback.
00:59:49 So again, you talk about offense, quarterback,
00:59:52 wide receiver, O-line, O-line, wide receiver,
00:59:55 a cornerback, possible safety in Marcellus Dial,
00:59:58 and then yet another offensive player.
01:00:01 Could be a quarterback, could be a tight end.
01:00:03 We're still not entirely sure what's going on here
01:00:06 with Joe Milton.
01:00:07 There's some intriguing players here.
01:00:09 There's players who I think we're gonna learn
01:00:10 a great deal more about.
01:00:12 There's players who Taylor cannot wait to dig in,
01:00:15 to film a little bit deeper,
01:00:17 to be able to unearth some of the things
01:00:19 that we're talking about.
01:00:20 Mike and Taylor will be back a little bit more later
01:00:22 just to profile some of these picks for you,
01:00:25 and after they get a chance to listen
01:00:26 and to talk to these guys.
01:00:28 But we are most likely going to wrap it up for you here.
01:00:33 We did wanna tell you once again about our sponsor here

01:00:39 If you wanna get in on the action,

01:01:04 As soon as you put it in there, it just fills out,
01:01:06 and there's that updated thing.
01:01:08 Ahmet's last gasp effort before he--
01:01:13 - Go to bat. - Just bathes out.
01:01:15 - Go to bat, Joe. - Joe Milton.
01:01:17 Which you traded Mac Jones,
01:01:20 you traded a quarterback for a quarterback's,
01:01:22 you traded a quarterback sort of for a quarterback sort of.
01:01:26 - Yes. (laughs)
01:01:29 - And Mac Jones, a quarterback in name
01:01:33 for a quarterback in name.
01:01:35 Mac Jones for Joe Milton, and that's where it ends.
01:01:37 I can't tell everyone in the chat how thankful we were
01:01:41 that you guys hung out with us for these couple of days.
01:01:45 This is always a super fun time of year.
01:01:47 I wanna hat tip.
01:01:49 We've been giving Ahmet a lot of props,
01:01:51 and he absolutely deserves 'em,
01:01:53 but I wanna tip my hat to both Mike and Taylor,
01:01:56 who put in, you have no idea how much work it takes
01:01:59 just to even educate yourself on 50, 75, 100 of these guys
01:02:04 and the amount of film that you have to watch.
01:02:07 And I know Taylor doesn't do it for,
01:02:09 just 'cause it's his job, he's doing it also for fun.
01:02:13 And because it's exciting to see what these guys do,
01:02:16 and it's what make these guys tick,
01:02:18 and it's what brings this type of coverage to you guys.
01:02:21 And I do really appreciate it.
01:02:24 I appreciate the chat and how knowledgeable
01:02:27 so many of you guys are in here,
01:02:29 and how much you watch and how much that you bring to it,
01:02:33 and have your opinions and have your takes
01:02:35 on some of these picks,
01:02:37 and also are going back and forth with one another
01:02:40 in a civil way.
01:02:41 I think two guys said, "Let's meet in Foxborough and fight."
01:02:44 And that was it.
01:02:45 Beyond that, yeah.
01:02:47 - Yeah.
01:02:48 - There was a bit of,
01:02:49 there was a bit of, "I'll meet you in Foxborough.
01:02:50 You're not that guy, pal," going on a little bit earlier,
01:02:52 but that was about it.
01:02:54 But it is honestly one of the most fun times of the year.
01:02:56 Why?
01:02:57 Because when you have a team like the Patriots,
01:02:59 it's about promise of a new day,
01:03:01 and always free agency and the draft.
01:03:03 These are opportunities to improve,
01:03:05 and the Patriots certainly did.
01:03:08 There's really nowhere to go but up,
01:03:10 but there's definitely some things to be excited about
01:03:12 as we get into the mini camp,
01:03:13 and then eventually training camp,
01:03:15 and there's a lot of stuff to watch.
01:03:16 So again, it's gonna make covering the team
01:03:18 in the lead up to the season that much more exciting,
01:03:20 because you got new toys, you got fun stuff to look at.
01:03:24 Everyone's gonna be interested.
01:03:25 If the receivers can make a day one impact,
01:03:26 if May is gonna be able to get in there and play early.
01:03:30 So again, a ton of stuff and a ton of fun stuff
01:03:33 that we can do.
01:03:34 But guys, final thoughts before we wrap it here.
01:03:36 - One thing I will add about Joe Milton,
01:03:39 when I watched him at the senior bowl,
01:03:40 like one, he was honestly solid,
01:03:42 like keeping the offense on schedule
01:03:44 and making some of the throws
01:03:45 that you just wanted to see him make
01:03:46 like underneath accuracy.
01:03:47 But the way he carried himself really stood out.
01:03:49 Anytime there were coaches speaking to him,
01:03:52 he was locked in and receptive.
01:03:54 He was like getting the teammates together
01:03:56 and really orchestrating that kind of thing.
01:03:58 So this whole class,
01:04:00 I feel like it's a lot of high character guys,
01:04:01 and I think he's the latest addition to that.
01:04:03 But again, I like this draft class, man.
01:04:05 I know I'm Mr. Optimist and everything,
01:04:07 but there's not a whole lot of critiques
01:04:09 I feel like you can make.
01:04:10 They address positions of need.
01:04:12 They added depth at corner, which we said they needed,
01:04:14 maybe even at safety,
01:04:15 depending on what Marcella's style does.
01:04:17 And they did need depth at quarterback.
01:04:19 I really did think that maybe they should have addressed
01:04:21 running back or tight end,
01:04:23 but the seventh round pick is still there.
01:04:24 We'll see what they do.
01:04:25 He still got undrafted for agency.
01:04:28 And the Elliot Wolf follows the Packers model.
01:04:30 They'll probably have a decent amount
01:04:32 of undrafted guys as well.
01:04:33 So I'm pretty optimistic,
01:04:35 and I'm excited to see what they do with these guys.
01:04:37 Thanks everybody for watching.
01:04:38 - Hey, thank you, Mike.
01:04:40 - Yeah, it's good.
01:04:41 - My little thoughts here.
01:04:42 - All good, it works.
01:04:43 Five to six offensive players and seven picks,
01:04:50 like you hit on everything you needed to.
01:04:51 So overall good stuff, excited for Drake May.
01:04:54 Everything else is solid for them to build around.
01:04:58 So overall good weekend for the Patriots.
01:04:59 And thank you all for watching,
01:05:00 and thank you guys for letting me
01:05:02 be a part of the draft coverage this weekend.
01:05:03 - No, it was our pleasure, Mike,
01:05:05 and it just added to the coverage, which was outstanding.
01:05:08 So I applaud you guys for all of your work
01:05:10 and all of your efforts and all of your knowledge here.
01:05:13 And again, thanks again to the fans in the chat.
01:05:15 Tons more, as we said tonight.
01:05:16 So make sure that you do check it out
01:05:18 for anybody interested.
01:05:19 And I know because I recognize a lot of these names
01:05:21 in the chat, we do have Garden Report coming up.
01:05:25 Game tip off is in an hour.
01:05:26 So around 8.30, you're gonna have a nice post-game show
01:05:29 there, Bobby and Josue are in Miami.
01:05:31 So make sure to check it out.
01:05:33 In the meantime, stay with Patriots,
01:05:35 CLNS and Patriots Press Pass.
01:05:37 Head over to Discord if you wanna chat, why not?
01:05:40 Ahmet's there, he's doing everything.
01:05:42 But keep it here, there's a ton more coverage.
01:05:45 We're gonna have more interviews up there,
01:05:47 more analysis, and as things break down,
01:05:49 more kind of post, more and more information comes in,
01:05:51 and Taylor's gonna have a lot of film reviews as well.
01:05:54 So thank you guys.
01:05:55 We will see you, honestly, pretty freaking soon.
01:05:59 Take care. - Next time.
01:06:00 Next.
