00:02 - So we haven't talked since free agency here,
00:05 the Vikings, you know, watch Kirk Cousins
00:07 take his ball to Atlanta.
00:09 And so they entered the NFL draft,
00:12 essentially looking for at least one quarterback,
00:15 maybe even two, I would assume that
00:16 that's their biggest need.
00:18 I know that you wrote about this
00:19 over at Sharp Football Analysis.
00:21 They need defense, they need everything.
00:22 It seems as though they could be even more
00:25 and maybe headed into that R word,
00:27 the rebuild word for Minnesota.
00:28 I mean, so many different players and personnel
00:31 headed into this season.
00:33 Inevitably, what do you think happens with them?
00:35 - I think that the rumor is true
00:38 that they are desperate for a quarterback
00:40 to replace Kirk Cousins.
00:41 No offensive-minded coach, he's a play caller,
00:43 wants to deal with, you know, Sam Darnold and Nick Mullins
00:46 as like your one and two options there at quarterback.
00:49 So I believe that they're looking to trade up.
00:52 The question is, does the board fall right
00:54 to allow them to do that?
00:56 And can they offer something intriguing enough
00:58 if they give up both of their first round picks
01:00 'cause they don't have a second round pick,
01:02 then, you know, that doesn't leave them very much
01:05 in this draft aside from this pick
01:08 that they would be getting a quarterback
01:10 if they move up the board.
01:11 And, you know, there's a chance
01:12 that a guy like Penix falls to them,
01:14 but are they really in love with Penix
01:16 to be the successor to Kirk Cousins?
01:19 Because if you go with that guy
01:22 and you're drafting him as high as they are picking,
01:24 and we're talking a lot of draft capital,
01:27 just with that pick that's involved
01:28 in drafting a quarterback,
01:30 you're gonna have to build around this guy
01:32 for a couple of years.
01:33 You can't just move off of him after one season
01:35 if he doesn't end up panning out.
01:38 So, and it's not like you're gonna be able
01:40 to let him sit on your bench very long
01:41 when Sam Darnold is the number one guy.
01:43 Like you kind of need this guy to play
01:46 at least half the season, in my opinion.
01:48 So I just, they're in a tough situation
01:51 because they don't have a lot of draft capital.
01:54 They have an offensive line quarterback coach,
01:56 and they definitely, desperately want a quarterback.
01:58 So we kind of know what they're looking to do,
02:01 and it'll be interesting to see if the board falls
02:04 in a way that they can get aggressive enough
02:06 to move up and grab that quarterback that they're eyeing.
