The Unity Government has never neglected the welfare of the Indian community but rather various programmes had been initiated to assist in the development of the community at large, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his opening speech at the 5th International Convention and Celebration of Indian statesman Dr Ambedkar’s 133rd birthday on Sunday (April 14).

00:53 So I come here for two issues.
00:55 Of course, first, America.
00:58 Whom I personally admire immensely
01:02 for his vast contribution to the center.
01:07 He's a man of ideas, who believe in a just cause,
01:12 not only for his community, but also
01:15 for the rest of India in time.
01:18 We must all strive to make Malaysia
01:20 a place where a healthy, vibrant intellectual discourse can
01:27 thrive.
01:28 Diverse perspectives are valued.
01:31 And disagreements are approached with civility.
01:36 We see this not only among the Malays,
01:40 but some of the Chinese, and also
01:42 Indians, other than some indigenous tribes.
01:48 If we want Malaysia to survive, we
01:51 have to go back to the core values and principles
01:56 of humanity, of justice, of unity,
02:01 because that will ensure our success.
02:04 Not to pander to the racist agenda of various races,
02:09 to showcase their importance by showing
02:13 that it's only their problem, or their assessment
02:18 of the population, without regard
02:20 to their interests, the country.
02:23 My statement is, again, today, that with this mandate
02:28 in this government, as long as I'm given the confidence,
02:32 I will not compromise in making sure
02:36 that this country is for all Malaysians.

03:23 We are here to show a good example.
03:32 I'm a Muslim.
03:34 How do you expect me to be a prime minister?
03:36 This is unjust.
03:38 The continual discrimination, or in some other countries,
03:41 the discrimination against Muslims or minorities,
03:43 that's their problem.
03:45 I want to prove a point.
03:47 They want you to lead this country.
03:49 You must be just.
03:50 You must be just to all Malaysians,
03:53 to all our citizens.
03:54 Again, thank you for your patience.
03:59 Thank you for the [INAUDIBLE]
