Premier Jeremy Rockliff says he's secured a guarantee of confidence and supply from independent MP David O’Byrne, giving him the numbers to deliver key election promises. A day after his cabinet was sworn in, Mr Rockliff plugged a plan to get rid of stamp duty for first home buyers.

00:14Premier Jeremy Rockleaf says he's got a guarantee from independent David O'Byrne, giving him
00:20the numbers to deliver his promises and stay in power.
00:24He's provided that written assurance of confidence and supply and I appreciate David for doing
00:29But unlike the agreement with the Jackie Lambie network, it's not a done deal yet.
00:35In a statement, the former Labor leader says he intends to provide confidence and supply,
00:39but won't be signing up to any agreement that limits his ability to stand up for what matters.
00:45I welcome the constructive nature of which David O'Byrne is the new independent member
00:51for Franklin.

01:06Branch members last night voting to reinstate him and declared no confidence in the party's
01:11president unless the decision is reversed.
01:14He might have to worry about crossbench members and the Jackie Lambie network, but he's got
01:17problems within his own side.
01:19Tasmanians aren't interested in the politics of this, they just want us to get on with
01:22the job.
01:23A government hoping to make good on more promises and minimise disputes.
