Meet the Paddleboarding Pooch paddling across Yorkshire

Going for a walk and chasing balls isn’t quite enough adventure for springer spaniel Ruby.
The clever canine loves to take to the water and go paddleboarding with her owner, Martin Sharp, a health and fitness coach from York. Ruby, who turned two in December, first got involved in the sport when she saw Martin paddleboarding and decided to jump aboard and give it a go herself.
The spaniel has been paddleboarding on rivers in York, lakes in Cumbria and even the sea in Scarborough.
Martin, aged 46, says dogs are the perfect companions for paddlesport, adding: “They don’t complain about the rain, argue about where to go or mutter if you do it wrong. Their low centre of gravity means they won’t easily topple in.”
