The biggest survey of children in England ever produced, has revealed that four in five children don’t feel listened to by politicians. The Children’s Commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza, who led the project, says: “What they [children] feel is that they’re not being involved, they’re not being listened to. They’re watching massive changes in their lives.” Report by Jonesia. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn

00:00 The number one thing that comes across so strongly at every age is that children want to be listened
00:08 to by the people in charge and by whoever the next prime minister is. The most negatively
00:13 answered question was the people in power listen to your views and followed by and can you influence
00:20 them. Children have talked to me, their children basically saw during lockdown the power of
00:28 politicians. They saw their schools closed in a day, they saw the vaccine rollout and they know
00:37 politicians are powerful. They're not cynical but what they feel is that they're not being involved,
00:42 they're not being listened to, they're watching massive changes in their lives. They've seen
00:48 Brexit, they've seen the cost of living crisis, they're seeing war in Europe and they want to
00:53 help. They want their views heard and they want to be part of building the future of the country
00:59 and the future that they're going to live in and be adults in.
