00:00 The National Council of the Union of Democrats and Independents (UDI) approved Saturday
00:04 its rallying to the list led by Valérie Ayé (Renaissance) to the European elections,
00:09 even if this rapprochement with the Macronist camp aroused some reluctance.
00:12 To a large majority, the internal parliament of the UDI adopted the motion proposed by
00:18 the party's management, considering it essential to "bring together political formations
00:23 for which European ideal remains a compass".
00:25 Formulation that gives a blank to the president of the centrist party, Hervé Marseille, to
00:30 conclude the negotiation started informally with the presidential majority, Renaissance,
00:35 Modem, Horizon, Radical Party.
00:38 We will move on to the active phase, to confirm Mr. Marseille, who will have conversations
00:43 on Sundays in Blois, where he will participate in the Modem congress.
00:47 The strategy has not, however, been unanimous.
00:50 A dozen participants voted against, while others abstained.
00:54 Like this delegate from Martinique who did not feel capable of saying "enough", adhering
00:59 to "we are going with Macron".
01:01 Another expressed his refusal to become a figurehead in a piece written by others.
01:05 But the centrist party had no other choice.
01:08 After the failure of the list in 2019, 2.5%, no elected, we saw the limit of the possible
01:15 to recall Mr. Marseille, underlining the right-wing drift of the Republicans to better justify
01:20 the alliance with those who are closest to us.
01:22 In Europe, there is not a cigarette paper that can distinguish us from the presidential majority,
01:28 defended without a soul the mayor of Amiens Brigitte Fourret, while the senator of the
01:32 North Olivier Henault argued that this rallying serves the influence of the UDI, which had
01:36 the duty to participate in the European gatherings.
