00:00 How does it feel to win that particular category?
00:04 Really really good.
00:06 Really happy to win it.
00:07 What did you feel when you were first told?
00:10 Was it a surprise?
00:11 It was quite a surprise.
00:14 I think I was just leaving the house and then my mum got a phone call to say that I had
00:19 been nominated and that I was one of the finalists.
00:22 And I believe she's encouraged you along the way?
00:24 Very much.
00:25 All the way through pretty much my life.
00:27 So what was the first volunteering that you did?
00:30 You've done a lot.
00:32 I've done a lot.
00:33 Probably the first I did was the Tain YMCA.
00:38 I went there since I was very young and then I was voted onto the Tain YMCA committee which
00:48 is just to help run the place and direct it in the right area of what kids want.
00:55 So you obviously give a lot.
00:57 What do you get back from it yourself?
00:59 Just a lot of leadership and pride to see people that I've probably helped through volunteering.
01:09 So it must be nice to feel like being described as a role model for other people?
01:13 Yeah it feels really good.
01:14 And you've overcome some other challenges?
01:16 Big hurdles yeah.
01:17 So how would you just briefly describe what they are?
01:22 My whole life I got dinosaur dyslexia and all the rest, I can't remember them all.
01:28 When I was very young it felt like it was the end and I had teachers and family members
01:36 who helped me all the way through and told me that it wasn't stopping and it was something
01:41 to be proud of.
01:42 And so did you eventually come to see it as almost being a superpower?
01:48 Yeah, everyone's described it as a superpower and it's never been a setback.
01:53 And finally would you encourage other people to volunteer?
01:56 I would encourage everyone to volunteer and just help in any little way they can.
