00:00 "Gonna be famous forever, 'cause forever's too short, too short."
00:07 Girls 5Eva is back! Sarah Bareilles, Busy Phillips, Renee Elise Goldsberry and Paula
00:13 Pell are all reuniting for the third season of the Emmy-nominated musical comedy about a one-hit
00:18 wonder girl group from the 90s reuniting to give their pop star dreams one more shot.
00:23 The series originally ran on Peacock for two seasons before being cancelled by the network
00:28 to much disappointment from fans. But luckily, the series was quickly picked up by Netflix and
00:33 given a season 3 renewal. The cast chatted with The Hollywood Reporter all about their epic return
00:38 and Girls 5Eva getting a new life on Netflix. "So excited! Hallelujah! Beyond thrilled,
00:46 beyond thrilled. I think even more so than the first season when we found out we had another
00:51 season. You know, it's like, because it really was not just, 'Oh, we're gonna do this again,
00:56 but we're doing it on Netflix.'" Season 3 picks up with the ladies prepping for a comeback tour
01:01 and grappling with life on the road. Along the way, they'll see relationships tested,
01:05 question if they really want the big time again, and cross paths with the biggest pop star on the
01:10 planet. "Remember these ladies? Girls 5Eva!" "Don't you know I'm Magisteller!" "We were on TV!"
01:17 "I love how these, like, 90s boy bands and girl groups have people still fangirling over them. Is
01:23 there any artist or group for each of you that you guys would or have fangirled over meeting?"
01:29 "Olivia Newton-John, I cried in the Coke closet. Yep, I turned around and saw her face and then
01:34 I burst into tears and ran into the Coke closet at a steak restaurant." "I used to work at SNL and
01:40 I cried watching Prince doing, like, a guitar solo and just being in the midst of that was just
01:46 so ungodly amazing." "I used to sing backup for a lot of different artists and once I was doing a
01:53 show that was doing a tribute to Luther Vandross and he and I was so I was with the background
01:58 singers and it used to always be my biggest dream if I didn't want to be a background singer but if
02:02 I did I wanted to be one for Luther Vandross and one of the girls that was singing backup with us
02:07 was one of his background singers so he came up to us and was talking to us and saying hello to
02:12 her and I was very, you know, professional the whole time and like getting my note whatever
02:16 and then he proceeded to go sit by the piano and sing a chair is still a chair and I like
02:24 super professionally got up from my seat and I walked up to around and back to the back corner
02:29 of the house and wept and cried pulled myself together and then walked back around and sat
02:34 behind him." Outside of reliving their biggest fangirl moments, the cast also discussed relating
02:40 to another big theme of the series, facing rejection while pursuing your dreams. "What's
02:45 your advice for people that are waiting for their chance but maybe keeps getting let down?" "Well,
02:51 she's certainly had enough letdowns in her career. No, I'm kidding. I just, you know, I feel like,
02:56 I, well, I feel many things. Like I do think that at this point in my life, in my career, I
03:02 am able to recognize that those things that don't work out whether it's in your life or career
03:10 are gifts. People have asked like, 'What was it like when you knew you made it?' And I'm like,
03:15 we all have the same reaction like, 'When is that? Do you know something we don't?' Because
03:21 we're still just in process, you know, all of us." And speaking of their gifts, the ladies couldn't
03:26 leave without giving us a little acapella session, gearing up fans who've been dying to hear from
03:31 their favorite girl group. "I wanted to know, is there any favorite Girls' Type of a song that you
03:36 guys love doing a little acapella to?" "Famous five-ever, 'cause forever's too short, too short.
03:45 Gonna be famous three-gev-er, 'cause that's one more than two-gev-er. Girls' Five-ever."
03:53 Girls' Five-ever is set to hit Netflix on March 14. For more on this story, head to THR.com.
