00:00 Unified Payments Interface (UPI)
00:03 Everyone is familiar with it.
00:05 Small to large transactions are made in a snap.
00:08 And this is the reason that in the last few years
00:11 the number of people using UPI is increasing rapidly.
00:14 In many other countries of the world,
00:17 this digital payment system is being adopted.
00:20 Although, there has been a separate discussion about UPI for the last few days,
00:24 where it is being said that charges can be collected from the user on UPI transactions.
00:30 A survey was also conducted on this, in which people's fear can be clearly seen.
00:34 So, today in this video, we are telling you
00:36 that on which transaction in UPI charges are collected
00:39 and what people had to say in the survey.
00:42 Actually, a few days ago, a news came out
00:44 that charges are being prepared on UPI payments by RBI.
00:48 And the discussion started with this.
00:50 Reserve Bank of India issued a discussion paper in August 2022,
00:55 in which a proposal was made to impose structural charges on UPI payments on the basis of different amounts.
01:01 Although later the Finance Ministry clarified that
01:04 there is no proposal to impose convenience fees on UPI transactions.
01:08 But despite this, people had many questions in their minds.
01:11 And about this, the local circle conducted an online survey,
01:15 in which about 73% of the people said
01:18 that if the charges are collected, they will stop using UPI.
01:22 And only 23% of UPI users were ready to pay transactional fees.
01:29 The survey shows that about 50% of UPI users
01:32 make more than 10 transactions every month.
01:35 Now let's tell you how charges are charged in transactions.
01:39 If you are still confused, then let me tell you
01:42 that at present, no charge is collected on UPI payments.
01:48 Although all UPI apps are now collecting platform charges on recharge.
01:53 Like whenever you recharge your mobile from Google Pay or Phone Pay,
01:57 you can get a charge of up to Rs 1 to Rs 5 as platform charges.
02:03 But many people have complained about this on social media.
02:06 These charges have been being collected for many months.
02:09 But some users are also claiming that
02:12 they have been charged in return for the transaction.
02:14 But as of now, this is not the case.
02:16 In future, it may be possible that some transactional fees will be charged.
02:19 But the Finance Ministry has just clarified that
02:22 there is no such proposal and there is no such intention of RBI.
02:26 The UPI services launched in 2016
02:29 have been an important part of India's digital revolution.
02:32 And today, more than 300 million people in India are using UPI.
02:38 In February 2024, a record transaction of 18 lakh crores was registered.
02:43 But in this case, after the survey of local circles, it can be said that
02:47 there can be a heavy drop in the number of UPI users
02:50 if fees are charged on transactions.
02:53 What do you have to say?
02:54 Are you ready to pay fees on transactions or not?
