00:00 Snow leopards are beautiful, magnificent, they are awe-inspiring, they are powerful,

00:05 and I have not seen any other animal that is so supremely adapted to the high mountain landscapes.

00:13 It's taken more than three billion years of evolution to create the snow leopard,

00:20 and it's just so unique. They're also, for me, one of the most important symbols of why

00:27 we need to protect high Asian landscapes. It's also called the third pole, this region. Mostly

00:33 people don't realize that you have the north pole and the south pole, but there's also this third

00:38 pole that holds huge amounts of fresh water in the form of snow and glaciers and ice, and a region

00:45 that is actually critically threatened now with global warming and climate change and globalization.

00:53 And snow leopards are a perfect symbol to actually be able to draw attention to the third pole and to

01:00 motivate citizens and governments to actually protect the third pole.
