Express & Star TV documentary on knife crime discussed by MPs in Parliament

A TV documentary produced by the Express & Star team about knife crime in the Black Country has been discussed by MPs in the House of Commons.

00:06 have been highlighted in a recent, very powerful documentary titled Grief, produced locally

00:11 in the West Midlands by the Express and Star. It's a really poignant reminder of a call

00:16 for action and awareness, and features the brave stories of two grieving families, two

00:22 sets of parents, one from my constituency. I know the hope that the Home Secretary takes

00:27 this issue very seriously, but can my right honourable friend provide us with an update

00:32 on when we will see legislation coming forward to tackle and deliver a ban on machetes and

00:39 zombie-style knives?

00:40 Well, can I thank my right honourable friend for all the work she is doing on this issue,

00:48 that I've witnessed first-hand having visited her constituency and met with one set of those

00:55 parents that she mentions, and I would praise them for all the work they are doing in turning

01:01 the tragedy that befell them into some positive action. She kindly mentions that the Home

01:08 Secretary is committed to this issue and is continually looking at what more can be done.

01:17 I think the particular statutory instrument that she is referring to, which was laid before

01:24 Parliament on 25 January, is currently on remaining orders and is to be debated in both

01:31 Houses yet, but I think that will be extremely soon, and she knows that we are making progress
