Search for two missing people after townhouse fire

There are fears for two people missing after a house fire in Lake Macquarie in New South Wales this morning.

00:00 Lorna, around 60 firefighters were battling the blaze in a unit complex behind me here

00:09 in Terralba, which is around a two hours drive north of Sydney.

00:14 They have managed to now control the fire as well as contain it to just the one unit

00:21 here in a complex of about 22 other units.

00:25 However when they were fighting the fire early this morning they did try to get inside the

00:30 building to conduct a search and rescue operation, but the fire became too intense and parts

00:37 of the building started to collapse from the inside.

00:40 So they did have to withdraw from that and it's unclear whether or not they found people

00:46 inside there when they were doing that.

00:49 So we are still waiting to get confirmation on whether there were people inside.

00:54 There is fear that there could be.

00:56 There is quite a high police presence around here and the building that was impacted has

01:02 been completely taped off.
