Multiple tornadoes were reported across Illinois on the evening of Feb. 27.

00:00 If you can identify here.
00:02 This rotation.
00:03 This was a much tighter rotation a
00:05 couple miles off towards the southwest,
00:07 and that's where it did produce a tornado
00:09 in one of the Chicago suburbs.
00:11 So we did have a report of a tornado
00:13 near Chicago from the storm pattern,
00:15 but the Chicago downtown getting
00:17 the tail end of it as we speak with
00:20 those frequent lightning flashes.
00:21 You can see two across northern Illinois.
00:23 We've had reports of tornadoes overnight,
00:25 and in fact there's been a couple of
00:28 them stretching across northern Illinois.
00:30 With this complex of thunderstorms,
00:32 it is the main complex that we're
00:34 watching at this point in time.
00:36 We have a tornado watch box that's in
00:38 place until 10 o'clock Central Time
00:40 for places like Chicago, though.
00:41 After we see this thunderstorm pass through,
00:43 our tornado risk shouldn't significantly
00:45 go down in the Windy City.
00:47 However,
00:47 there's still more severe weather
00:49 as we go through tonight from Central
00:51 Michigan on South into the Ohio River Valley.
00:53 We do have the risk for severe
00:55 severe weather as we go through
00:57 tonight with those severe thunderstorms
00:59 and that high risk is focused in
01:01 towards Louisville and Cincinnati
01:02 near the Ohio River.
01:03 So we have a great risk here for
01:05 the potential of damaging winds,
01:07 but we can't rule out hail and
01:09 tornadoes as threats with these
01:11 thunderstorms that are going to
01:12 illuminate in time and you can see
01:14 in the next couple of hours next two
01:16 hours or so these thunderstorms
01:18 will start getting going.
01:19 And become more of a line as we
01:21 follow more of that moisture in
01:23 lower Michigan lifting north and
01:24 dissolving pretty quickly so that
01:26 line continues as we head into
01:27 tomorrow morning and so we are
01:29 still talking about that severe
01:31 weather risk right through the night.
01:32 A lot of these places you'll hear
01:34 rumbles of thunder through the night,
01:36 so you want the Accuweather app to
01:38 stay weather aware and keep those
01:40 alerts coming to your phone to help
01:42 wake you up in the case of either
01:44 a tornado warning or eventually a
01:45 severe thunderstorm warning too.
01:47 If you need to stay away from some
01:49 of the windows in your house.
01:51 Oh my god!
