Claims of widespread racism within the NT Police force

NT Police are promising an independent investigation into Mr Rolfe's claims of widespread racism within the force.

00:13 Any discrimination or racism, absolutely not acceptable in the workplace, in the community.

00:17 The statements made in the court do hurt the community.

00:20 We have great relationships with the community and really strong ties.

00:24 The Territory's top cop is promising the former constable's claims will be investigated.

00:29 There's the independent commissioner for corruption that may be involved.

00:32 There's a couple of other agencies that may be involved.

00:35 Among Mr Rolfe's allegations, claims racist terminology was used everywhere in the force,

00:41 including amongst high ranking officers.

00:43 They have no place in this organisation or any department, but ultimately it was made

00:47 in the coronial court, we need to let it run its course.

00:50 That's his evidence, that's the events he's giving to the court in the process.

00:54 When I go to Alice Springs and the other stations around the Territory, I do not see those

00:59 behaviours, I do not hear those comments.

01:01 Police are promising a thorough investigation into the claims made at the coronial inquest.

01:06 But what elders in Central Australia say is needed is accountability and transparency.
