00:00 It is only appropriate that on this occasion I share thoughts with all of you on Bharat
00:08 and the world.
00:10 Let me start with my own understanding of what is Bharat.
00:16 It actually has multiple symbolisms in different domains.
00:21 Economically, we could be speaking about an Atmanirbhar Bharat that has a connotation
00:28 of a certain resilience, a certain self-sufficiency, a contribution or a talent that is expressing
00:38 itself.
00:40 Developmentally, today, when we speak about Bharat, it also implies a commitment to create
00:49 an inclusive, just and fair society where no one is left behind.
00:56 And that is actually in many ways the true test of development.
01:00 Politically, Bharat is a statement of independence.
01:06 It is a declaration that India engages the world, that when India engages the world,
01:13 it doesn't have to be done necessarily on terms that are set by others.
01:20 Our objective in that engagement is to let our own personality and innate qualities come
01:27 out and then there is of course the cultural aspects of Bharat.
01:32 Here we could be speaking about our thinking, our traditions, our heritage and our practices.
