AFP officer not charged over conduct during arrest

An Australian Federal Police officer will not face criminal charges, after he was investigated over an arrest outside the Iranian Embassy in Canberra last year, during which a protester suffered serious injuries.

00:25 In a statement, an AFP spokesperson confirmed a criminal investigation will not be pursued

00:31 in relation to the AFP member involved.

00:35 Injury law specialist Jeremy King is representing Hamid.

00:39 He says he's concerned at the implications of the arrest on the right to protest.

00:44 The footage in Hamid's case speaks for itself.

00:47 I think the public can see that it's obviously a very violent arrest.

00:51 At the time of the arrest, the AFP said it respected the right to protest but would take

00:56 action where people fail to follow the direction of police.

00:59 Meanwhile, Hamid says he's focused on transitioning to a more normal life, including returning
