00:00 I'd like to start by saying that this is a terrible and deeply distressing tragedy
00:04 in which three young children have lost their lives.
00:08 Our thoughts are very much with the children's loved ones who are going
00:11 through a horrendous ordeal. We were first called by a member of the
00:15 public who was concerned for the welfare of the occupants of an address
00:19 early on Sunday the 18th of February. Officers arrived at 12.40am
00:24 and found three children whose lives could not be saved.
00:28 Forensic post-mortem examinations will now be carried out on the children to
00:32 establish the cause of death and it's important that we don't give
00:36 out any further detail on this until these proper processes have
00:39 been carried out. The post-mortem examinations are not
00:44 likely to be completed until the middle to the end of this week
00:47 at the earliest. Formal identification has not yet taken
00:52 place but we believe the victims are a boy
00:56 aged seven, a girl of three and a 10-month-old boy. Their next of kin
01:02 have been informed and are being given all in the help and support that they
01:05 need by specialist family liaison officers.
