00:00 Austin North is breaking his silence over his recent arrest.
00:04 The Outer Banks star was arrested for gross misdemeanor battery on February 13th after
00:09 allegedly attacking staffers at a Las Vegas emergency room, according to a police report
00:15 obtained by TMZ.
00:16 The actor shared a lengthy statement addressing the incident to his Instagram story on February
00:21 15th, writing, "I am deeply upset by the events that took place in Las Vegas this past week.
00:27 My friend drove me to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack.
00:30 Several tests were taken including blood which came back negative for any drugs or alcohol
00:36 in my system.
00:37 I was having a severe anxiety attack.
00:39 I have very little memory of the events that day at the hospital.
00:41 I have the utmost respect for healthcare workers and hospital staff.
00:45 I have battled anxiety on and off for years and this was the most extreme panic attack
00:50 I've ever had.
00:51 Going forward I hope to shed light on this debilitating disorder and send hope to those
00:55 who have also struggled."
00:56 In the police report from that day, Austin was accused of punching one nurse in the head
01:00 as well as shoving two other healthcare workers during a visit to UMC Hospital, per TMZ.
01:06 Authorities said in the report that security officers managed to restrain him to a gurney
01:10 after one of the staffers hit him with a tray in self-defense.
01:13 North was in Las Vegas over the weekend for the 2024 Super Bowl celebrations.
01:18 Seen in a video posted to Instagram February 14th, the actor attended several parties,
01:23 including meeting Rob Gronkowski during the NFL Icons bash at Encore Beach Club.
01:28 In a statement to E! News, the UMC Public Relations Director Scott Kerb said the hospital
01:33 quote "cannot share details about specific patient interactions in order to protect patient
01:38 privacy," adding, "However, that violence against healthcare professionals, our community
01:43 heroes who devote their careers to helping others, is always reprehensible.
01:47 UMC remains committed to maintaining the safest possible environment for our team members,
01:52 patients and visitors."
01:53 E! News has reached out to Las Vegas Police for comment but hasn't heard back.
