00:00 Rochester is a place of history, from the tip of its cathedral to the grounds of
00:04 its castle. This Pancake Day, one cafe is also trying to make history for a good
00:09 cause. That history was to attempt to break the record of most pancakes filled
00:13 in one minute, which according to the Guinness World Records website is 16 by
00:19 German Andrei Althoff in 2018. Jagger's cafe and restaurant placed the difficult
00:24 task on their employee Riley, who said she wasn't the fastest at filling
00:28 pancakes but she was the messiest. In the small room you could cut the tension
00:32 with a spatula. The countdown started and she was off. Riley started well, giving
00:38 each cake a squirt of chocolate and a helping of sliced banana. But once the
00:42 fluffy discs had to be folded on the plate, her perfectionist side took over
00:46 and time ran out. She came just short of the record with 14 pancakes filled. We
00:52 spoke to Riley after her attempt.
00:54 I'm a little bit disappointed but it's all for a good cause so it doesn't really matter.
00:59 The final outcome of the Guinness World Records is that it goes to a parity which is the main thing.
01:05 And were you nervous before? Yeah, very much so. And obviously with the cameras coming in and everything I was like 'oh well'.
01:12 It was a lot but it was fine, everyone was really friendly so.
01:16 While she didn't make history today, it was what she was fighting or filling for that really mattered.

01:36 It's so important to get our messages out there about what we do and how we do it and in a fun way.
01:41 That's the important thing, making pancakes is fun but the Wisdom Hospice has a very serious job to do.
01:46 We look after people with end of life care diagnosis either at the hospice or in their own homes.
01:51 So at any one time we've got 15 people at the inpatient unit at the hospice and up to 400 people at home across Medway and Swale.
01:58 Pancake day might just be an excuse to eat a sweet treat before dinner but today it stood for a lot more.
