The beast within Michael (Paul Clemens) finally emerges while his mother (Bibi Besch) stares in fear.

The Beast Within relies on Tom Burman's pioneering prosthetic special effects, which have since been used in other horror films. The story revolves around a couple who are on their honeymoon in Mississippi. Caroline (Bibi Besch) is violently raped by a hairy, subhuman creature and gives birth to a child named Michael (Paul Clemens), who appears normal until his adolescence. At 17, Michael begins to feel peculiar, and his parents return him to Mississippi to see whether his troubles are related to Caroline's long-ago rape. Once in Mississippi, Michael transforms into a hungry insect-like beast that roams the countryside, disemboweling and preying on innocent victims.
