00:00 Hi, I'm Megan, a reporter for Sussex World, and these are the top stories from across

00:05 the county for today, Tuesday, February 13th.

00:10 East Bonbarra Council has been accused of misleading the media over its reported debt.

00:15 In January, it was announced that the council owed over £112 million in long-term debt

00:20 as of September 2023.

00:23 This was reported in several media outlets as its total amassed debt, which Councillor

00:28 Robert Smart has called a 'gross error'.

00:31 He believes the council has misled media outlets by not disclosing the short-term debt, and

00:35 that the total is actually £181 million.

00:39 However, the council has said that its level of debt is well within authorised limits,

00:44 and that by the end of the financial year, is expected to total £125 million for its

00:49 general fund and about £54 million for the housing revenue account.

00:55 Police are appealing for witnesses following a reported stabbing in Crawley last month.

01:00 Sussex Police said a 19-year-old man reported cycling in Bew Bush Drive between 3am and

01:04 4am on Saturday, January 13th, when a male came up behind him on a bicycle.

01:11 After a short interaction, police said the victim was stabbed once in the side before

01:15 the suspect fled the scene.

01:17 Police have asked anyone with information to get in touch.

01:21 And finally, a dog described as an overgrown puppy is looking for a home in Sussex.

01:37 Staff at Dogs Trust say once you've taken the time to build a friendship with the 7-year-old,
