00:00 My job is to basically drive footfall into Newquay and its businesses throughout the

00:23 whole year. So we're not just focusing on that summer trade but we're actually walking

00:27 around the town centre talking to businesses, trying to do events, trying to market businesses

00:32 and basically make things happen throughout the whole of the season and then the whole

00:36 of the year including the winter.

00:37 The Newquay Town Team was set up nearly two years ago to look at how Newquay is going

00:43 to progress until year 2050 and look at primarily it is the town centre as how that can be looked

00:51 at, organised, transport, all those necessary things that are going to impact on everybody's

00:57 life for the year 2050 up until year 2050 given the fact that lots of people are coming

01:03 to live in this wonderful town of Newquay.

01:05 It's of massive importance for Newquay. A lot of people talk about Newquay and car parking

01:09 and they can't get in in the summer and in the winter, you know, they can't get a train

01:13 in, they don't want to drive because of the parking. It's always been a really big deal

01:17 for people. It's one of the main things people talk about with Newquay actually. So having

01:21 a train that actually is running every hour with an extra 700,000 seats a year coming

01:27 into Newquay is absolutely fantastic for everybody, for businesses, for locals to be able to get

01:31 into Truro, people can come from Falmouth. It's just amazing. It will really open up

01:36 Newquay for the future.

01:37 Great idea. I think it's something that's going to hopefully revolutionise the way that

01:41 transport in Cornwall goes and allows people to come in and out of the various towns that

01:46 are all joined together now, or will be joined together, by the ideas that have been put

01:52 forward and hopefully the funding will be available and start as soon as possible.

01:58 Businesses need to come along to the engagement event. It's very important that you come,

02:02 you see exactly what's happening and then you make your voices heard. You know, it affects

02:06 everybody within Newquay. It affects, this is going to be a long-term project as well

02:10 that you know will always be there. So if you're a business, look at the plans, discuss

02:15 the plans with Cornwall Council and you know, look ahead and think about the future and

02:20 work with them.
