00:00 Hello and welcome to the Maghreb Press Review.
00:07 We start our edition today in Morocco.
00:10 In Casablanca, no place is safe from aggression.
00:15 According to the Espresso newspaper, this scourge no longer settles in the disadvantaged
00:19 neighborhoods.
00:20 On the contrary, criminals are now venturing into the most hooped neighborhoods, targeting
00:25 the inhabitants in front of their homes.
00:28 The newspaper quotes the recent report, updated for 2024, on the crime index
00:34 published by the world-renowned non-B.O. website.
00:37 Casablanca is ranked 10th in Africa and 93rd in the world.
00:43 The crime index of economic capital is classified as moderate, according to data
00:49 consulted by Espresso.
00:50 Over the past decade, the Kingdom's metropolis has been the scene of a
00:55 unprecedented resurgence in crime, largely attributable to factors such as
01:01 unemployment, rural exodus and spectacular urban expansion, which have put the capacities
01:08 of local authorities to the test.
01:11 As one of the Moroccan press also decided on 1 January 2024, a tax targeting
01:18 imported vegetables from Morocco is applied in Mauritania.
01:21 This measure has aroused the wrath of Mauritanians, politicians and exporters
01:27 Moroccans, creating a real subject of controversy.
01:31 According to the Espresso newspaper, Algeria is trying to flood the Mauritanian vegetable market
01:36 to regain the place of Morocco, except that this does not seem to reassure the parties
01:40 political or the Mauritanian Forum of Consumer Protection, which threatens
01:45 to make protests against the increase in prices.
01:50 The National Reform and Development Party Tawassul has published a statement
01:58 insurgent to the flooding of prices vegetables since January.
02:02 The party should address this question at its meeting scheduled for Saturday next
02:07 in Ouakchott, and should denounce this unjustified and irrational measure, since the lack of
02:14 agricultural products on the market has led to a price increase for consumers,
02:19 and to continue that the subject is central, especially that the country should hold a presidential election
02:25 in June.
02:26 On its side, the Mauritanian Forum of Consumer Protection has called on the government to
02:32 take urgent measures to preserve consumers' rights, while
02:37 underlining that the purchasing power of Mauritanians is already strongly affected by the continuous rise
02:43 prices and monopoly.
02:45 Place now at the Tunisian press, Germany, the new Eldorado of Tunisian cooperators.
02:51 I read in the daily Webdo which indicates that Germany arrives in 2023 at the head of
02:57 countries that have welcomed Tunisians in the framework of technical cooperation.
03:02 In 2023, 20% of the total number of recruitment made by the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation
03:10 were placed in Germany.
03:11 This is what the results show recorded in the field of technical cooperation
03:16 during the previous year.
03:18 Europe comes in second place as a host country of Tunisian cooperators, with
03:24 26% of the total followed by countries of North America, Africa, in addition to cooperators
03:31 in international organizations.
03:33 If the global figures show a concentration of Tunisian cooperators in
03:39 the Arab countries, however, this trend will remain unchanged to consider
03:45 the mobility and migration programs organized by the Agency.
03:49 Regarding the sectoral distribution of cooperators, the same source indicates that education
03:55 occupies the first place in terms of the number of cooperators detached from the Agency, with
04:00 a rate of 37% followed by the health sector.
04:05 The administration sector occupies the third position, followed by the IT and media sectors.
04:12 Still in Tunisia, the suicide of children and minors continues to shake the news.
04:18 While we continue to talk about isolated acts or a simple winter event, we forget
04:24 the phenomenon the next day, it continues to amplify, title the media, the press.
04:29 Why keep silent if we know that this phenomenon no longer affects the unemployed and
04:34 the workers?
04:35 The Daily asks, which specifies that 38% of suicides are young people aged 20 to 39.
04:42 For years, to close the debate, we have been evoking the opening of a judicial inquiry
04:47 after each suicide, without going to the bottom of things and establishing a strategy of prevention
04:53 and awareness in the school environment, within families or assistance programs
04:59 for vulnerable categories.
05:01 These decades, qualified by the daily life of a black man, have not only massacred life
05:06 political, economic and social, but have carried in its wake thousands of lives.
05:12 Its sinister trace continues to mark division and repression on oneself, cultivating fears,
05:18 using weaknesses, delays, errors and instrumentalizing mistakes without
05:23 doubt.
05:24 We arrive at the end of the magazine Maghreb press.
05:26 Thank you for following it.
05:27 Good follow-up of programs on Median.
