00:00 What's up guys? I'm Playmaker Nyree and this is Beyond the Buzzer.
00:04 I'm here to show you what these athletes' lives look like when the clock hits zero.
00:07 Three, two, one.
00:09 I thought you were standing me up. I was like, "Come on."
00:22 No, never that.
00:23 Hi. Thanks for letting me spend the day with you.
00:26 For sure. Welcome to the show.
00:27 I'm excited to see what a D1 athlete's life looks like behind the scenes.
00:32 This is beautiful. This is Florida. This is Miami.
00:36 And although I'm an FSU girl, I hate that I'm saying that I actually like it, but it's pretty.
00:41 How do you like Miami so far?
00:43 I love Miami. Being from Atlanta, when I went to college, I didn't know I wanted to go to a big city.
00:49 Coming to Miami is just like being in Atlanta, really.
00:52 A lot of people say it's distracting to be an athlete down here. Do you agree with that?
00:56 Nah.
00:57 You're still locked in?
00:58 Yeah, you can choose if you want to be distracted or not. I've been locked in.
01:03 What's your favorite thing to do in Miami?
01:07 Outside of football.
01:08 Outside of football?
01:10 Try different food spots.
01:12 What's your favorite food spot?
01:13 Shadow Wagyu.
01:14 What is it?
01:15 Shadow Wagyu.
01:16 Never heard of it. It's good, though?
01:17 It's ever.
01:18 It's close to here?
01:19 I go three times a week.
01:20 You eat Wagyu steak three times a week? Is it Wagyu, literally?
01:23 Yes, I go three times a week.
01:24 Oh, so you're spending those big bucks every week, three times, Wagyu steak? It's crazy.
01:30 It's kind of crazy. It's not that bad.
01:32 Being from Atlanta, coming to Miami, what was the biggest adjustment you had to make?
01:38 It was so easy. I'd probably say it's extra hot.
01:42 Extra hot.
01:43 The practices are hot.
01:45 Oh, yeah. Especially during the summer when we're out there in camp and stuff.
01:50 Camp is bad.
01:51 Yeah, brutal.
01:52 You put all the gear on.
01:54 It's like 100 degrees out, humid, you can barely breathe.
01:57 I get hot a lot.
01:59 When we got here in the summer, we got here in June, and we had workouts as soon as we got here.
02:05 I was like, "Oh, no."
02:07 All right, Jaden, what's the first thing you do?
02:10 You wake up, you hang out, you go to practice.
02:13 What's on the schedule now? What are we doing?
02:15 I'm about to go to the facility, probably catch some balls, catch some jugs.
02:20 Today is like an off day, really, because we leave tomorrow.
02:23 Usually before I travel, I just try to get a couple of jugs in just to get my hands right.
02:28 Got your ball game coming up, just a little extra reps on the side.
02:31 Yeah, extra reps on the side.
02:33 Let's do it.
02:34 Coming to a school that has five national titles under their belt,
02:38 what was it like training under an organization like this?
02:42 Our classes were more so focused on making a name for ourselves.
02:46 We knew we really didn't have nothing to do with that, so we just tried to recreate that greatness.
02:52 We tried to do it for ourselves.
02:53 What are your expectations for this football program in the next couple of years?
02:57 I think my mindset literally has just been trying to take things one day at a time
03:02 and just find ways to get better every single day, find better ways to lead the team.
03:08 How do you feel about NIL?
03:09 I love NIL.
03:10 You said, "I love it."
03:13 I do think it's kind of negative in some ways.
03:20 I think a lot of kids are chasing money, chasing schools due to money.
03:25 That's one thing I don't like about it.
03:27 I think it's deserving.
03:28 FSU won a Power Five conference, won 13-0, undefeated, didn't make the college playoffs.
03:34 Got snubbed.
03:36 What do you think about that?
03:37 I thought that was crazy, unexpected.
03:42 Just being a ball player, stepping away from the whole rivalry thing, I felt like they should have been there, being undefeated.
03:50 That's just how it is.
03:51 That's how the community is.
03:52 That's just how it is?
03:53 Yeah.
03:54 What is the craziest experience you've had against a rival?
03:58 It was this year. I was on the kickoff team.
04:00 Me and the dude, we just kept going at it, just kept hitting each other.
04:03 You know, rivalry game.
04:04 The dude, the dude, the dude snatched my mouthpiece.
04:09 He started running and playing, joking around.
04:12 I was like, "Bro."
04:13 That was probably the craziest thing because I was ready to fight.
04:18 Playing in that game, it just meant a lot to me.
04:20 Growing up, watching those games, and being a Georgia kid, but still, you just want to play in that game.
04:27 Who's your favorite football player to come out of UM?
04:29 At Reed, Cam Kitchens.
04:32 Sean Taylor.
04:35 Michigan, Alabama, Washington, Texas.
04:38 What are you predicting?
04:39 I'm going to go with the underdogs.
04:41 I think a lot of people are kind of Washington.
04:45 You got to lean to the side.
04:48 You got to lean to the side.
04:50 Okay, but I'm falling.
04:53 But keep like--you ain't doing it right.
04:58 You ain't doing it right.
04:59 You ain't making enough sound effects.
05:01 You got to really feel that thing.
05:04 I say we got some catches in.
05:06 Let's do it.
05:07 I'm ready to see what you can do.
05:10 You got to touch down.
05:12 You got to touch down.
05:13 What's your celebration?
05:14 Pick six?
05:15 Yeah.
05:16 I done dreamed about this a couple times.
05:18 What's your celebration?
05:19 Home run away.
05:20 If we away, though, I'm going to look at the crowd.
05:23 Oh, so you're like taunting them.
05:24 I'm going to like--I'm going to like swag.
05:27 I'm just there.
05:28 I'm just swag.
05:29 Okay, and home?
05:30 Home.
05:31 Oh, no, I'm going to do the Ronaldo.
05:33 Oh, the suit.
05:35 Yeah, do it.
05:36 I'm going to do that.
05:37 Okay, that's a good one.
05:38 Coming next, you got to pick six.
05:40 I'm going to do the Ronaldo.
05:42 Mine would be the gritty.
05:44 Let me see your gritty.
05:46 No, you first.
05:47 My gritty's bad.
05:49 So, okay, let's just reenact it.
05:51 Pick six.
05:52 Okay.
05:53 In the end zone.
05:55 Ow.
05:56 Spike the ball.
05:57 Okay.
05:58 Oh, my God.
05:59 [laughter]
06:01 Yeah.
06:02 I just hope you don't get to pick six.
06:05 Why do you do the arms?
06:06 How do you do your arms?
06:07 Aren't your arms supposed to go like that?
06:09 Like, make them natural.
06:10 You just need to, like, loosen up.
06:12 Tap, tap, tap.
06:15 Your arms still.
06:17 Just do it like this.
06:18 That's getting better.
06:20 That's getting better.
06:21 You got to, like, you know what I'm saying?
06:23 I just don't have, like, that swag.
06:25 Yeah, you--yeah.
06:26 You don't.
06:28 You need some help with that gritty.
06:30 Yes.
06:34 Yes.
06:36 Yes.
06:38 I am her.
06:42 University of Miami missed out when they didn't recruit me in high school,
06:45 even though I was a five-star wide receiver out of Boca Raton, Florida,
06:49 and now they missed out on all this talent.
06:53 Ready?
06:55 Oh, no.
06:57 That's perfect.
06:58 I believe in you.
07:00 [laughter]
07:02 What's next on the agenda?
07:04 Next, it's time for my favorite part of the show.
07:08 We're going to Shadow Wagyu.
07:10 If the food is not good, you have to leave, and the video is over.
07:13 This better be the best food I've ever ate.
07:15 This is the best place on earth.
07:18 I got you.
07:19 I'm going to be a gentleman.
07:21 He's only doing this for the camera.
07:22 Only for the camera.
07:24 By itself, 8.3.
07:26 And now we're going to dip it in the sauce and see how it is.
07:28 Do you think it's a 10?
07:29 11.
07:31 [chatter]
07:35 Sauce makes everything better.
07:38 9.6, 9.6.
07:40 9.7.
07:43 9.7.
07:44 Day or night?
07:45 Night.
07:46 Chocolate or vanilla?
07:47 No vanilla.
07:48 Hamburgers or hot dogs?
07:49 Hamburgers.
07:50 LeBron or MJ?
07:51 MJ.
07:52 Cats or dogs?
07:53 Dogs.
07:54 Spider-Man or Iron Man?
07:55 Spider-Man.
07:56 This is thick.
07:58 [chatter]
08:07 She can't even see it.
08:10 Can we get a close up?
08:12 Look at that, man.
08:14 That's real Wagyu meat right there, man.
08:18 Actually, it is one of the best burgers I've ever had.
08:20 He wasn't lying.
08:22 But UM is different because they have these college kids paying $25 for a burger.
08:26 They don't do that at FSU.
08:28 Who's the best player in the NBA right now?
08:30 Who are you saying?
08:31 Right now?
08:32 Yeah.
08:33 I'm going to go with the Joker.
08:34 If you could play with any athlete, past or present, who would it be?
08:37 I want to play with Eric Reed.
08:39 That's a good one.
08:40 I want to play with him.
08:41 Start, bench, cut.
08:43 Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, AJ Brown.
08:48 Cut AJ Brown.
08:49 Go.
08:50 Off the bat?
08:51 Bye.
08:52 Start with Tyreek.
08:53 Start, bench, cut.
08:54 Patrick Mahomes.
08:55 Josh Allen.
08:56 All right.
08:57 Joe Burrow.
08:58 I'm going to cut Josh Allen.
08:59 I like Mahomes to get me a ring, and I like Burrow to go get me a ring.
09:03 Well, I really appreciate you letting me hang out with you today.
09:06 What's up?
09:07 I know you got a busy week ahead with the bowl game coming up.
09:11 Is that yours?
09:12 That is mine.
09:13 Brief and everything?
09:14 I'm impressed, Shaden.
09:15 That is mine.
09:16 Decorated and everything.
09:18 Before you leave, I do appreciate you for the opportunity.
09:21 Of course.
09:22 So this gift is for you.
09:24 Wait, it's actually for me?
09:25 It's actually for you.
09:26 You got me a gift?
09:27 Knowing the Christmas spirit.
09:29 Oh my God.
09:35 Did you actually get this for me?
09:37 I can't fit it.
09:39 Wait, Shaden.
09:42 I'm obsessed.
09:44 Oh, thank you.
09:46 Good luck tomorrow.
09:47 Have a safe flight.
09:48 Appreciate it.
09:49 All right.
09:51 Bye.
09:52 Bye.
09:53 This is so sweet.
09:54 I can't even comprehend.
09:56 It's a wrap on Beyond the Buzzer.
10:02 We're out.
